Surprisingly good, slightly underrated series

Alright, this didn't seem great at first - the art was pretty crappy in the beginning, but it got loads better once the fights started happening. The characters themselves are interesting, their interactions are engaging, and you really get to know edermask as well as the other characters much much better as the story progresses.

The best parts of this manga:
Comedy is put in very well and has nice flow
The fights - just epic and awesome in every way
The characters are lovable and unique
The continued suspense
The art - by itself it would be great but all the pages of this manga are colored. Yes, ALL.
new releases every 1-2 days! One man army is amazing.
Character development - very significant in this manga
Not geared just for guys
The author set up a LOT to look forward to in season 2 with the time skip and emphasized hidden potential of the two main characters

Bad parts:
Bit of a slow start
Though powerful, the antagonists are a bit unrealistic/disconnected and we have yet to really know about what in the world really caused between the main protagonist and antagonist to hate each other so much though we had significant glimpses of the conflict (even after 180 chapters)
Small parts of the plot seem rather pointless
Slight intellectual inconsistency of the "genius level" main characters - but I guess it would not be a good story if they could predict everything and avoid fights

The minor flaws is what keep me from giving this manga a 10 (which I would almost give manga like beelzebub, meteor methuselah, and such) but I would put this up there on par with the likes of noblesse and ubel blatt, and slightly above id

The artwork in the beginning is pretty bad. I mean I gave up on it several times. But after getting to a certain point, the artwork is splendid and the story fascinating. Give it a read. You won't be disappointed.

good read and art

When I started reading this I didn't like it. I thought: oh, stupid kids and a bit weird art in the first chapter. Now I'm thinking; thank God I'm not the one to judge the book by it's covers so I continued reading it.

For all of those who say art sucks because it is sloppy I have a question. Do you know how much time it takes to paint a digital image that isn't sloppy in the style that the artist has done in this manhwa?
Depending on panel and artist's painting proficiency it would take him 2h-10h per panel. The artist wouldn't have time to eat, sleep...
I personally love this rough art style. You can see that artist really knows his stuff.

As for the story, I was really surprised how I got hooked on it so easy. I thought that would be uninteresting and that I would hate the girl's character but it was quite the opposite.
The only think that I didn't like is a part with Edia. It wasn't bad but I didn't enjoy it as the rest of it. It was kind of like a filler, you keep wanting it to finish so that main story can continue.

I think VampireBanana summed up a lot of my thoughts on this very cute series but since I was hesitating on whether or not to read the series from the other comments before him, I thought I should add my own comment.

It seems people who commented before me had varying opinions. I personally really liked the art style. It is rough but it has a really endearing quality. Almost like a rustic charm. Everything is consistent and I think the comment on colouring being bad was a bit unfair, since some of his scenes come out quite beautifully, particularly with lighting.

Another thing I really like is the mangaka's attention to details. I don't really see what the problem with a slow moving plot is, he takes his time to flesh out their daily lives, shows the characters eating, training, shopping, just generally fooling around. I much prefer this to (for matters of argument) One Piece's constant and quite pointless fighting, where all the creativity is put into sometimes quite bizarre fighting abilities. I am not claiming that this is better than One Piece, just pointing out that what the authors are trying to achieve is completely different. Within that difference, Magician appeals to me as much more charming.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a laid-back storyline with some magic and fighting that still makes you smile. It is enjoyable and relaxing to get into this manwha

I like it

Plot/Story:
Some stuff seems quite absurd, repetitive and thin, but all in all the plot is gripping and easy to follow. I always wondered why he let them tag along in the first place though...

Pacing: The pacing seems off if you don't appreciate the characters and their interaction. In my opinion the characters are a stronger point than the plot itself and it's them that makes me read Magician. I'll be sad to see it end because of them. 7/10

Characters:
Every characters has his/her distinctive personality. If we can't stand a certain character because of his/her particular traits it just underlines my opinion - characters are only really bad if you don't care about them at all. 9/10

Art:
After the first few chapters it really picks up. Especially the landscapes are very beautiful and artistic. It appears the artist has some problems with the characters sometimes, but usually they come out alright. 8/10

Overall, I recommend it to people who like fantasy with sword fights and sorcery.

Iremi in season 2 is becoming an increasingly frustrating character to read, and it is really starting to weigh down the greatness of the artwork and story.

Those of you that can't stand overbearing female protagonists that constantly bombard the whipped wet noodle type male protagonists will understand (which is too bad, because Enzu has potential otherwise). If I do continue to read this web comic, I hope the author will bring Iremi down a peg or two in the near future, otherwise the series may as well be renamed "Iremi".

Aside from these complaints, I still recommend the series as it is quite well done. Season one features Edermask, and his badassery is too great to pass over.

well to begin its all about expectations
if you read something that is very highly rated you'll be always disappointed
you'll only like it if you're septic of such claims
well this webtoon is different from regular manhwa and manga
its more related to western european comics
its the only title i read asap and and don't have that "leave it for later" habit
the thing is the story/action/art triangle is well balanced
the story isn't the main focal point always there is always good action
sometimes nice twists and then gorgeous colored art
and another thing is you will like the characters for their personalities and not for the eye candy
the queen of this title is Iremi there is not ecchi or eye candy yet she is sometimes cool sometimes annoying sometimes beautiful sometimes cute and sometimes charming
you just don't get enought of her
maybe she is just overpowered but she also have weakness
like a real person she has many faces many aspects
you'll learn to respect her and you'll alway find something new

I'm not the biggest fan of webtoons, just because the art is normally not as good and the longer pages kinda bug me, but this was interesting enough for me to actually read it. I'm addicted to it, actually. I've even found that because of it, I'm more open to other webtoons. So, yay! Its certainly the best webtoon I've read (so far), but obviously its not quite as good as many of the manga out there.

I really like this manhwa, it's true that the plot development might be a bit slow and all but it's still really good. The art isn't very refined but it fits the manhwa pretty good so no use in complaining, at the same time I wish the chapters were each a bit longer since it's so fast to read it threw, I also belives it gives the manhwa a certain appeal with alot of images and not very much spoken.
