don't let the classical shoujo style art fool you. this is really solid character driven post-apocalyptic sci-fi. A lot of guys might get turned off by the shoujo art, but give the first volume a try and you'll be hooked. I was.

I Thought Basara was an epic story and she couldn't get better. I was wrong, this is even better as the act work has improved. Each volume gets better and better. In fact I can't decide which character i like better Everyone is so sensational in their own way.

Most mangas tend to deteriorate in quality as they go on, but 7 seeds is one of the few candidates who grow even better. This is a story that you could read for weeks on end and still remain engaged in its unique storyline. It seems that this manga is still in its introduction phase despite its nine volumes. When reading it, however, the story sucks you in and the nine volumes seem to become extremely short. The manga gives time to develop their main characters and maybe some limelight to side characters here and there. Since all the characters have been introduced by the end of volume nine (at least I think those are all the characters), the story may unfold into a deeper and more enchanting plot. I will look forward to anything that the author gives us.

Oh! I wanted to thank the scanlating groups for doing such a terrific job! Keep it up! biggrin

Lot of people commenting 'bout the artwork, but hey it's not really a bother. I'm a manga-freak and have been read it for 18 years (so my first manga was Doraemon, haha). If you read old-school manga like Waki Yamato's (i forgot the title) and some Candy-candy's like artwork, 7seeds's artwork was really awesome.

I like unusual manga, and this one is my favorite manga of all time. The intrigue, the plot, the art, the horror they gave me during some chapters (and keep my mind wondering if 'that' would really happened, what the world would have been), i like them all. Definitely worth reading

It's a pity I have to wait for a long time till vol 17 get released in my country (have been reading till vol 16)

Very good... a true adventure

Plot and the cast seemed rather conventional at first. However, after a number of volumes, the story became far more intriguing and fascinating.

The main character is fairly wimpy at first(wow... a teenager who asks for permission to go to the toilet is a rare sight! haha! smile ) but at least she starts to evolve a lot, learning from the people and environment around her. Also, the rest of the cast evolve over time and you can see how their relations change as they interact: trust, mistrust, jealousy, acknowledgment, acceptance, fear, happiness, anger, sadness, deep pondering, etc., etc., and all these affect their teamwork and teamplay as well as their personal views and state of emotions.

Also, the details to the evolution of plants, animals, soil, clouds, star constellations, how the asteroid/meteor impacted Japan and other countries, what plans Japan made, etc., etc. are nothing short of amazing, so the background of the story is really rich.

At first, I had plenty of misgivings due to the amount of cast but the mangaka has proven her ability in layering tapestry upon tapestry of details, without affecting the quality of the plot.

And the idea to put in
Spoiler (highlight to view)
instructors/leaders who knew about what had happened, was an excellent plot device. Usually, many post-apocalypse stories turn out to be a total farce because they rely too heavily on the cast suddenly figuring out that it's a "post-apocalypse" without having much evidence or knowledge of the "supposed incidents".

As for the art itself, well... the style probably follows old-school shoujo artstyle, so some might have reservations about it. However, the ability to depict geographical, technological, modern, ecological, movement, characters' tension/moods/personalities and other details is nothing short of amazing. There are plenty of artists who excel in some but few who excel in most or all of these. To actually depict all these with some level of emotion and atmosphere is amazing! For, after all, there's a difference between "technical drawings" and "impressing upon the viewer with sombre, happiness, calmness, etc., etc.". And furthermore, to partially shape the plot with aid of such devices requires a true mastery of many things.

quite excellent. while i get tired of "post apocalyptic" stories, this one draws you in. the mangaka does a good job of presenting psychological issues that people today probably think about human nature. i'm surprised some people don't seem to like the characters though! at first i found myself annoyed on the first two volumes, but once you try to understand their motivations and reasoning, you realize that it's just being human and i found myself rooting for them. my particular favorite is natsu -- i find her to be a well rounded character because she finds her strengths along the way when she initially stars out as very timid. pity that the scanlations come out slowly, but as long as they're coming i will continually wait excitedly for the next releases.

I've put this title on hold for few years now lol.
It's an interesting read.
But waiting for each chapter is painful, because I just couldn't remember what the last chapter was about. And because of that, the plot seems very confusing when I get my hand on a new chapter, that I need to go back and re-read some volumes. Yes, it's that complicated. biggrin
Therefore, this title will be one of the very first title I'll re-read when it finishes. But then who knows when will it'll be get done. sad

I read the first 7 volumes in one day. It was like having a nightmare (for 12 hours), that is, a nightmare that's so interesting that you want to keep watching it, but you'll probably be too scared to come back and watch it again. The monsters were not only actual monsters, but, sometimes, also people (yep, living up to the "psychological" tag).

Nice artwork (although the drawing of the characters look really old school). The disgusting creatures all look so real.

I have to admit though, it's not the most original survival story I've ever seen. But it's certainly well-executed, enough to keep you thinking about it for a while.

If you think the first few volumes aren't interesting enough, keep reading, because it gets more complicated.

When I read the reviews i feel this will be interesting manga.
Yup it is interesting, despite the art isn't really.... oh nevermind.
I got confused with the plot in early volumes... cause each volumes told different story about 7seeds' teams. Up 10 volumes, they slowly interact to other teams... I like this kind of story, well there will be lot of conflict, struggle, survival, love, and I hope this manga won't turn up to be cliche love story....
so far it goes, the story fascinating me... i want more!

I don't like survival mangas, and I don't usually read art styles that are not eye catching. I REALLY do not read survival anything... but this one just caught me and I decided to go at it. In a few words... it's amazing. There's not much of a plot since they just wander around everywhere, but the characters are really interesting. Each chapter and volume... the manga is made out of the character interactions and the development of each character. They're really awesome. Even if it was good I though my disinterest in the genre would tune me out, but here I am finishing ch42 at 1 AM when I detest going to sleep late. It's an excellent manga. You need to read it.

Oh yes, and the art style will grow on you. I quite agree that it doesn't compel one to read the manga initially.
