From Dark Horse:

When supernatural police officers come to take De-Mo back to the demon world for execution, Aimi, aka Shadow Lady, agrees to take on a special mission in order to save her demonic pal. Aimi must help recover the Demon Stones that were stolen and released into the human world.

I guess a story like this wasn't going to thrive in Jump. The whole thing is bordering on magical girl (got Saint Tail vibes from it) and was something fun and unique when looking at what else was going on at the time. I love these fun, lighthearted series and was sad to see this one end right as it felt like a second story arc was picking up. If magical girl stories are too fluffy for you and you want one with a more shonen approach, Shadow Lady might be right up your alley. The character interactions are fun, the story is silly but engaging, and seeing how the relationship between Bright and Aimi plays out is an enjoyable ride. I just wish there wasn't a rushed ending and us readers could have seen the true direction of the story. Nevertheless, Shadow Lady is a neat tale lost to time in the Jump archives.

very much a manga. I thought it´d have a more western influence. But it´s cool.

basically shadow lady is a girl that uses magic to give herself animal related powers that aren´t all that animal related, similar to brave starr. she has 7 overall with her default mode. She steals for the thrill but only small, worthless objects. Regardless, she does break and enter during closing hours and resist arrest. Perhaps in homage to comic book superheroes, the guy she likes is in love with her villanous alter ego.

Her character is a lot like a shy manga boy´s. Or any shy person´s in general. One thing I disliked was that the characters looked too much like Video girl ai´s, by the same artist.

that aside, the storyline follows her trying to overcome her shyness in her human identity, since her villainous one is unrestrained. In that sense, it´s like a manga love story cept the characters are 19 and 25 respectively.

I enjoyed the first two volumes the most.I think they show a more western influence. While later, they seem to add a random, and more shonen sort of running clock with crappy demons. It´s worth checking out.
