Wide as the Ocean, Deep as a Puddle

There's a very diverse and interesting cast of men in the manga, but the heroine herself is incredibly lacking. In the modern day, she's extremely good at archery, but she basically only uses her archery skills once in the manga. Every other time, she's the typical damsel in distress who needs the men to take care of her. Some of the male characters are obviously very interested in her, and there's a bit of tip-toeing around their relationships. However, it never develops. One of the men ends up seriously falling for her (surprise) but this part of the plot is never resolved.

The end of the manga is signaled by a final war, but it's all very confusing. Whoop de whoop, heroine-chan actually does something for once, and shoots the guy that would have stabbed the master. Now everyone is chuffed, and Heroine-chan is no longer needed. She wants to go back to her period in time, but wait, main man comes running and declares his love for her! He pushes her into the pond and Heroine-chan tells the spirit thing to wait!! Spirit thing says if she goes back, she will never return to her time period. Heroine-chan immediately responds that she wants to stay, and she bobs back to the surface of the old period, and wow! Now the whole cast is here, and Heroine-chan is so loved. This ending is particularly hilarious because for much of the manga, she's depressed and misses her family and friends. Not in the name of love!

I guess part of the reason this manga flopped is because it's based off a visual novel. It's a shame because the art is wonderful. The manga follows the path of the main guy, but she could've ended up with many of the other cast in the original. More of the story probably would've been revealed if she chose someone else. Still, the ending felt abrupt, and there were soooo many loose ends left untied that the ending is frustrating. I really enjoyed most of the manga up until the last few chapters despite the heroine's lack of courage, drive, and any characteristic that would make me want to root for her. I don't know if I would recommend reading this one.

It was okay for a game adaptation. Art was neat. The characters are likeable. The pacing, however, feels a bit too rushed for my taste. Especially when this number of characters have to be juggled around.

"It's an Otome Game Adapt."

So basically, since it is an adaptation...you can blame most of its faults on that. Although, it is pretty good for an otome game and since it is one...GORGEOUS HOT GUYSSSS!!11!
One problem I have with it is the fact that it

follows the Akatsuki route. IF ONLY IT FOLLOWED MASATOU'S ROUTE (or Kansuke < 3 (yes he's the bad guy but a super hot one at that.)

Well, there goes my dreams.

Great for an Otome Game adapt.

It seems some of the reviewers are unaware that this manga is based off of the the Otome Aka Dating game. I'm not sure what the writer is trying to do, whether she wants to incorporate all of the lover routes together somehow. It's still better than most adapts out there.

kichiX, I must agree that the flow of the story and layout could have been better. It's odd how all of men seem to have that 'Main Guy' feel. Maybe if they made it a bit more clear, my rating would have improved. Perhaps we'll be seeing a brighter future with this manga.

lovely artwork but similarities to InuYasha...

Love the artwork but the some parts of it in the first few chapters really reminds me of InuYasha...
1. school girl goes back in time accidentally while looking for something (buyo - kagome's cat and maai-kun)
2. there's a male that acts arrogant but is actually gentle
3. that same male peaks on her during a bath...

I dunno, maybe its just me seeing similarities in the first few chapters since I love InuYasha but I hope they make it really different. I agree with kichiX with that the plot kinda jumps over the place and not flowing well. Hopefully it will become a good, interesting manga.

Nice art, horrible panneling and story telling. The story may be good - I can't really tell. The way the artist has chosen to lay out each page's pannels is so bad the story really doesn't flow or make any kind of sense at all. It's jolting and jarred. Only three chapters are out at the moment so it may improve, and I can't really say much about the story because it hasn't really progressed very far yet.

Edit: With fourteen chapters out now in two volumes, I can say that the storytelling has definitely improved. If you can stick it out for the first few chapters you'll be rewarded with a...well, an average read, I'd say, but certainly not a bad one.
