Boring

I've read only the first novel, because I decided not to read the rest.
The first half of the book was incredibly boring, the plot moving very slowly. Rather than "a plot" I'd call it "meet the inmates". Which is great, but when it takes 2/3 of the book it's bad. The strory only got interesting around 2/3, and only for about 2 chapters. The last chapter was meh again. All in all, I can't recomend reading it. The MC is supposed to be a former drug inspector with experience in undercover work but is actually a weakling and the story is moving at a snail's pace...

perfect but it's a pity the difficulty finding on the internet

I have the three volume scans but they are in Japanese and I can't find anyone willing to translate it. It's such a catchy and well-made story that I even think it would make a good anime adaptation. But the fact that it has almost no content on the Internet makes it difficult for people to know and be interested in the series. Well, if anyone is interested in translating them I would be immensely happy and grateful 😊

WONDERFUL

One of the few interesting mangas/novels I've ever read. Very interesting and unique in its own with lots of twist in the story. The story as well as character's role were executed very well. I love every detail of the story and how the story progressed. So far, this is the manga that made me laugh, giggle, smile, sad and cry. I know, it is a yaoi manga but honestly, it has the elements that I've looking for. This is just to wonderful.

I love the story end and I'm so happy that Yuuto and Dick got together. They deserve happiness, especially Dick. Having Yuuto with him means a new life and new happiness. Yuuto, on the other hand, is my favorite character of the story. I love everything about him. Strong personality with charm and sexiness. No wonder, most of the characters like him. Ahhh. I LOVE HIM! <3

Anyway, I really recommend this to everyone. It is worth reading and listening. (I've listened the drama CD and read the translation. hehe)

Engrossing, but can be cliche

The author does a good job of building suspense and writing action-packed, high-tension events that kept me reading one book from cover to cover. The plot is nice that it offers more than just pure romance--there are other interesting characters and an overall crime/mystery goal of the characters where I definitely felt that this book at times became more than being a "boys love" series of novels and was rather a detective/action series where the main characters happened to be gay.

That being said, the story is far from perfect. Conversations tended to drag during very dramatic moments, and it took a /very/ long time for Yuuto to grow a pair. I mean, with the first novel being in a prison setting and all, I was surprised Yuuto didn't die like the 2nd day or something. I found it really hard to like him for so much of the first book because he was so whiny and all talk but no action. Like, he really acted tough and made enemies all over but he couldn't defend himself worth **! That really annoyed me because as cool looking as the talented Takashina Yuu made Yuuto, for so much of it he really fell into the stereotypical weak-and-girly-"uke" of many BL series.

Situations also tended to be highly romanticized and over dramatized. Minor characters tended to remain flat without much growth. Some conversations and quips were witty and fun, but some dialogues could sound forced and boring.

Overall, I felt compelled to read it and keep reading it, but I'm not in a hurry to reread it ever again. I'd recommend this if you were perhaps bored on a plane, but I am sure you can find better novels than this. If you don't mind a little cheese or perhaps enjoy a little drama/romance and you just love having the hot illustrations, then I think you'd enjoy reading this more than I did.
