Not bad. It's shoujo.

If you read any comments below they will spoil the story's ending for you.

I started reading this manga during its serialization. I brought the volumes as they released from Tokyopop. This is a light hearted story about a girl name Sakura who starts living with her four step brothers. The art is very cute and the story develops well. You will feel for Sakura as she goes to schools and manages her feelings. This author has developed situations which really connect with the reader, honestly this is her specialty.

I did not except the ending. I was confused on how this was all OK. I wish the story was developed differently.

Eh There're Pros and Cons But It's Good

It's Hari Tokeino, man. I love this guy's works. The art may be simple but they are so cute (esp when children/babies are involved. So damn cute. Unf). So far, all of his/her works are really enjoyable reads and this one is not all bad. There's drama but it's fairly subtle. For the most part, I was worried about the protagonist's eldest brother going for his youngest sister (LOL) when she had a decent school boy falling for her too. And, you might get tired of the brother-sister complex as well (LMAO) because in this manga, nearly everyone has it.
Anyway, what kept me reading was the subtle comedy as well. I'm a sucker for funny side characters. This manga has that sort of thing and it's good overall. Check the mangakas other works if you liked this one (or you liked it but couldn't finish it due to the brother-sister stuff).

Cute at first

At the beginning it was all about family and fun. I thought it was cute and adorable. Then a timeskip happened and our main character grew. She's now into relationships, and it her brother. That's the point I barley made it past chapter 7 (I think I went farther than that, but I can't think). It just left me uneasy with the characters.

It's okay...

It could've been better. Honestly, the main character seemed weak and pathetic- a stereotypical girl in a shoujo manga. However, I really loved the oneshots and I preferred them over the manga.

So bad

It started out alright, the characters were cute and the brothers all very sweet. The comedy was not bad...at first, then it gets repetitive and boring.

The heroine started off being the cutsy weak shoujo type of girl. It would be fine if she was not pathetic. One would expect improvement in characters with the development, but no, she gets more and more infuriating. But alas, once she is in love with the eldest brother, her life simply revolved around the question of 'does he/will he love me?', consisting of her acting like a mouse in front of her brother 24/7. Of course being the pathetic girl she is, she does not do anything herself to help their relationship progress.

Another problem is with her love interest that is a man who should really be born a woman. While I do not have a problem with incest, I have a huge problem with his personality. Do not take me wrong, I accept men acting girly, but apart from his occasional spouts of manliness, he is beyond the point of girliness to the extent that it feels like this should really be a yuri about the love life of two shoujo girls.

To sum it up. Yes the first few books are interesting and sweet. After around volume 7 or 8 (it has been a while since I read this) everything goes down hill.

When I first read the preview for this series in one of the Fruits Basket volumes, I thought it was a good read, I almost went ahead and bought the books, I'm glad I didn't...they have up to volume 6 in my local library and I decided to check them out....
Sakura and her brothers started off like really fun characters, but then Sakura and the brother's developed a very strong brother-sister complex that I just found annoying....
then Sakura falls for
Spoiler (highlight to view)
the oldest brother
, and things just go downhill from there.....
There are a lot of cuter manga out there that do not have such a needy character....
It started out promising, but it soon went down the drain...sad

At first, like many others, I didn't like the manga. Now, though, I've fallen in love with it. It's not just Tokeino's main story that endeared this series to me, but her one-shots that are included many of the volumes, as well. Definitely check it out!

One of my most favorite shoujo mangas.

The story is simple, sweet, and easy to follow. Nothing too complex. The characters are fun and amusing. This manga is a good read if you like shoujo.

It's not exactly a stereotype, but retains its own purpose throughout the story.

second impression

A couple years ago I read the first chapter or so of this series and found it boring, cliché, annoying, and not worth continuing. Then the other day I was at my local library and they had volumes 4-5. I was bored, and figured they were worth a read if I didn't have to pay anything for them, so I checked them out and read them. And I loved them!! Then I went back and read the first chapter scanlated, again. And I could see why my first impression was so bad—the first chapter really was boring, cliché and annoying (there seemed to be some mistakes in the fan-translation which only added to my un-impressed-ness).

So my point is, the beginning of the story (at least the first chapter, possibly more) is dull, but the later volumes are pretty fun and definitely worth reading (I'm considering buying the rest of the series now as it comes out because I don't want to wait for my library to get them). Also, amusingly, I wasn't confused at all jumping into the middle of the series, even though my memory of the beginning of the series was quite foggy. The family-aspect is really sweet and the characters are all lovable and fun. The art is adorable. Don't give up on it like I almost did!

I also wanted to say I love all the random dudes with mustaches that Tokeino-sensei draws in the backgrounds and sidebar panels. They remind me of the Pink Panther cartoons or something... they're hilarious!!
