Description
Tomioka Yuji is a 32-year-old night-shift guard for a mall. He works completely alone, so he often slacks off, exercising and hanging out on the roof. In some ways, the job is perfect for him, as he's always been terrible with people. However, he can't help feeling incredibly lonely and wishing he had friends.

Great manga. This author excels at suspense and getting at the gritty underbelly of personality while staying humorous. You root like hell for the MC -- who is equally kind and honest when he doesn't want to be either, very human -- and the oddball cast, even the annoyingly misguided one. Great commentary on loneliness and the power of authenticity and vulnerability.

Interested because the cover picture. Read slowly, take 2 days just to finish 1st chapter. After that, binge-read. Each char face have different unique traits, that's awesome. The story pace is good. Very recommended.

The whole time was waiting/expecting to escalate to some rapey shit (due to reading Himizu) but not much happens. Also don't understand what happened with the glasses girl and the guy that chokes the stalker.

It was a fun read for the first 3 volumes but by the last one everyone kind of gives up and the story just floats along till it ends. Which makes it especially funny in the last chapter when that one dude says "Who cares... Too much work..."
The first volume is excellent. The oddball loner that is the anti-hero of this manga reminded me a bit of Onani Master Kurosawa, but here the characters are adults, yet still immature. The ambience is more eerie, though it's always realistic. The second volume adds some action to a manga that was mostly centered on characters and their non-standard psychology, but it's still a highly intersting read.
Alas, volume 3 and 4 felt almost empty, as if the mangaka had run out of his story. The end is lukewarm, and by this point the original characters have already faded in a distant past.

This is by the guy who created the famous Ping Pong manga, lately (2016) turned into a good anime.
One again here we have the totally odd characters, the great drawing of extreme expressions, high degrees of facial ugliness, and, amazingly, one unbelievably beautiful woman.
Most manga are about winners, or losers who turn into winners. This manga is about a loser, but one who's a decent human being, and his weird struggle to become a more functional human being. Along the way are characters whose oddity no-one but FURUYA Minoru could create.
I'm not finished with reading what's been scanned yet, but I find myself rooting for the guy with all my might.

Wish there were more than the first 2 vols available. This is a very interesting manga that's insightful and funny. It says some poignant things about loneliness and companionship. A slacker tragicomedy about a bunch of oddballs and their crazy adventures in modern Tokyo. Recommended.
