Description
In order to heal the wounds in Eiri Yuki's heart, he and his vocalist lover, Shuichi, travel to New York to visit the grave of Yuki's first love and tormentor, Yuki Kitagawa. They discover that the first Yuki has left behind a young son, Riku, and so the odd couple take the boy back with them to Japan. When Shuuichi receives a kiss from nutty rival band leader, Ryuuichi, Yuki flies into a jealous rage, and he and Riku disappear, leaving Shuuichi to search for them in vain.

I was a little late to the BL party so I only recently finished Gravitation and thought I could immediately move to this one. Yeahhhh that's not such a good idea. I can understand why people only recognize the first Gravitation. Although Gravitation became more and more convoluted as the chapters went up we were always reminded(sometimes less frequently) that there was a serious love story and relationships at stake. But EX is more of the convoluted characters and plot from the later Gravitation chapters and less(or none) of the seriousness.
It's still as funny as the later Gravitation chapters(trust me I was as overwhelmed with the kidnappings and giant robots as other readers but I still found it funny) but funny and crazy is not enough to carry a story. If Gravitation had started off with the craziness right away as EX does, I would have definitely lost interest. I recommend reading this way after the story from Gravitation has lost its impact so you can enjoy only the funny. I'll be back when I don't want a serious story anymore too.

Gravitation is, by far, the anime/manga of my life. I was 14 the first time I watched it - and I'm done with puberty already. You can guess how excited I was when I first heard of the sequel, and more so last year when I knew Murakami-sensei was to resume her work here. In half an hour I re-read my own copy of the first volume and I know now it was the worst thing I could've done.
I embrace changes for the better, but Gravitation's new art style is tasteless and cartoon-ish. Yuki is nowhere near hot and even Touma looks like a freaking fourteen year-old.
Shuichi looks and acts like a stupid dummy. Yes, he goes naturally hyper and he's naturally stupid but he always had a solid character both in the anime, in the ovas, the first manga... now he's just pointless and over the top. It doesn't even feel like he cares for Yuki at all.
Hiro-san is completely out of character - oh wait, most of them are. He now cares little about their music, concerning himself only with their fame and success as a gay-friendly band.
But overall the art is just terrible. It's impossible to take this manga seriously (who am I kidding? by the end of volume 8, we were all seeing it coming). It's like I'm watching Metal Masters, for Christ's sake.
I'll probably read it through, according to my needs, because Yuki will forever be the love of my childhood. Still, so far, it's not worth a 10. And believed me, I've quarrelled a lot with fellow anime-lovers to prove Gravitation was worth a 10. Lol.

I can say that this is the top 1 among my favorite shounen ai and yaoi stories. This is super hilarious and Murakami-sensei never fails to make me laugh with her weird ideas. hahaha. I just uber love Shuichi and I guess, he's my favorite among my favorite anime/manga characters (something like that). Haha. I love his personality. I love him and will continue to love him forever!

@ tarmie: shuichi does age backwards! lol
Gravitation is hilarious. I've only read the first chapter of EX, and the art is totally different, but I'm still gonna read it! I do wish Murakami-sensei was still working on this. T_T

I have always loved gravitation, be it the manga, anime... heck i want a poster. The art style is great, the plot is perfect and if you aren't a homophobe i'd say give it a go. It's an interesting story with an adorable main character who i want to cuddle!
pure awsome

Well the only bad thing about this manga is that Shuichi seems to age backwards, and the suddenly get older again. Gotta love Murakamis sudden art changes. xD
But apart from that it's hillarious! A lot like the original story.^^ And Yuki just gets hotter for each chapter. * . *
And Murakami has begun writing on it again.^^ (after an eight month break)
