From Liquid Passion:

Yagisawa Kei is disastrously unlucky in love, as his recent strike-out with author Itou Haruya attests. When his publishing company makes him responsible for a handsome young author, he once again finds himself walking an all too familiar path where work and play collide. He doesn't realize that he has met Subaru before... or that Subaru's reappearance now will open old wounds from a past he'd rather forget.

Justice for Kei!

I was so heartbroken with the way Kei had been treated by Haruya in the prequel Te wo Tsunaide, Sora Wo that I was really eager to read a story with him as a protagonist.
I'm so glad I did! The story starts sad and you feel heartbroken, then it gets scary and you get angry, and finally it's so cute that you happily giggle.
...By the way it's also really hot.

I'm not surprised how the mangaka wrote and drew this manga because I knew that it's going to be a worth-read story. It just drives you to love the characters as they go through different obstacles in their lives and hoping for a happy ending. With this manga, the mangaka really showed how relationship develops step-by-step and how a real relationship might work in a real life. I absolutely loved it.

I swear to god, Miyamoto Kano has ruin me for other yaoi writers. After reading her stories, I can no longer go back to reading the trashy, cliche yaoi manga that I did before. Her stories always leave me with such a deep impression that I find myself thinking about the characters even long after I finish reading. I think I've develop an addiction to her works.

Miyamoto-sensei has done it again!~

Her characters have such debth that you tend to care deeply about what the outcome of their relationship will be.

This is no original plot but not every mangaka gives it that taste of reality like Miyamoto-sensei does.

The art, I've seen better but certainly unique and easy on the eyes. This work is sincerely recommended and the mangaka's works itself are something to look into because she has a certain thing she adds into her works that makes her unique in the yaoi world.

Charaters: 10/10
Art: 7/10

The Best of Kano Sensei's Works

When Deux licensed & published the prequel "Two of Hearts", I was so excited because I was so hoping that as its sequel, Toge will also get licensed & published in English. Unfortunately, they never did get around to publish what I consider the finest of Kano sensei's work. This title has so much depth in it - about healing scars from the past, forgiveness, redemption and being brave enough to take chances at true love. I definitely wish one of the remaining BL publisher will pick up this title soon for the US market.

This story is really superb, like most of sensei's work you fall in love with the characters which leaves you wanting more.

Even a re-read years later doesn't diminish my thoughts on this one. Perhaps i actually appreciate it more? Sensei truly knows how to write a good plot. You may not love all the characters all throughout, but they feel realistic somehow.

Poor Yagisawa...D:

What a sad love life he's been having ever since high school. I feel kinda sorry for him, although seeing him act like a villain in Te wo Tsunaide, Sora wo doesn't really suit him. But it's understandable why he's like that. For some reason, he looks like a seme instead of an uke, in exception of his height. But still, I quite like this one. They're both crazily in love with each other, and yet Yagisawa is being haunted by the past.

Of course I felt sorry for Kei's character and yet I couldn't quite get rid of the feeling that he is just another clueless, weak uke, who'll put up with anything for the sake of love. The whole domestic violence/heart condition/disease-deal gave the impression that the manga was trying too hard. There was no room for "real" drama to develop, since the plot was practically forced in this direction.
But anyway I found a way to read it through and it did kinda make sense in the end. Plus I found Subaru's character was the cutest one I've seen drawn by MIYAMOTO Kano so far. Hence the rating.

This one gets sad, but it's also incredibly sweet. Normally main guys who let themselves get knocked around by someone they think they love drive me crazy. I still don't like it, but the jerk who did that in this story wasn't the main love interest AND they all recognized that he was a bad person.

Also, the sex at the desk was super hot. Look for that one!

What Can I Say?

In all honesty, I think the plot on this one got too messy. The insecurity level just seems too high to break. The characters all seemed like they could snap at any moment and crumble under the memories of their past, and in moments of weakness, the plot seemed like it could too. This particular piece of work from Miyamoto Kano seems pretentious somehow.
