The first and second story were alright, but nothing great. The third story was the only one with substance in my book and the last one was just plain twisted.

The first story is not bad, also not the best. It’s a knight rescuing a damsel in distress cliche, but a happier tone. I’m glad those perverts are castrated. The ending seems ok.
The second story is also good. Another thing missing is the conflict and the plot lacks suspense due to being a single chapter. I like the ending.
The third is horrible and silly. I don’t like that rebellious brat to do what he wants which gets himself in trouble but getting away from it. I feel bad for that director. Despite the twist ending, I don’t like the overall plot.
The last story is far more interesting, leading to the sequel. I was expecting the foster father and son intimacy, but too bad it never happened. They’re both gorgeous and hot btw. The twist ending is also shocking.

As for me there's too much violence and too much drama and because I couldn't see any reasons which justify such an amount of violence the whole work is a little distasteful. Obviously it was created for people with abuse inclination. You were warned.

Most of the stories came across really flat and the situations were often outrageous. Characters would act to such extremes for no real reason.

Dreamy Pavilion is just a hypocritical romance in which
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
people die for... well no reason really. Let's see how well the group of them last after killing someone of supposedly high status. Not to mention if you step back from the story just a little you'll realize how 1 dimensional the characters are.

Harem for Two...... if it was depicted as some idiot boy's fantasy from this generation... like a delusion of Shunpei's from Mousou Elektel (a story in a completely different league than this one if anyone's interested), I would believe it. As it stands, this is a really pathetic attempt at some fantasy romance story.

Resigned Decision had at least one thing going for it and that was the attempt on the mangaka's part to depict deeper characterization based on the fact that both main characters were haunted by their fathers' careers and expectations for them. Only, it kind of fell flat with the attempts at humour and pretty much the rest of the personalities of the characters.

Pavilion of Destruction is the only one I thought was even a little decent and it's because of the sequel to it. Knowing the sequel, I wasn't expecting the main character to be lovable, and sure enough, he wasn't. But I thought his twisted personality, as well as the twisted world in which he grew up actually fit the sequel well.

Love-love, Hate-love-hate, & Sexual attraction born out of admiration.

Every Shin Mizukami one-shot has a theme, & this time it's "adopted sons stealing from fathers."
Also...the cover...there's no story in this book that it belongs to. I'm sure it comes from a short story in another one-shot; I'll write it down when I find it.

Dreamy Pavilion: Fei-Yen (or Hien) is a crossplaying Gēwǔ jì/Xìqǔ/Kabuki actor who is sold out to a old politician. He is confiscated by the man's bratty son, Do-Sho Sei-Jo, whom intends to "share" him with all of his friends, & then becomes indignant when he finds out Fei-Yen is not a woman. His friends knew from the start & think it's funny. Despite nearly being raped, Fei-Yen decides hetero Sei-Jo is a safe alternative to his father & befriends him. Sei-Jo learns that rape is wrong & that maybe he's not as straight as he thought, & when Dosho Sr. decides he wants to pimp Fei-Yen out to his political buddies, Sei-Jo has some life changing decisions to make.

Harem for Two: A Comedy about a lusty young king, his bloodthirsty bodyguard/Waifu, & one very confused horse. Marvel at the world's most hilarious fountain.

Resigned Decision: Set in modern-day Japan, rather than ancient China, like the rest of the stories. It's an "Odd Couple" story about two very different men who don't get along but live together anyway. Dan; a violent slovenly no-class freeloading teen, & Kanda; a swank neat-freak detective wh easily caves in to peer pressure. As their relationship improves slowly overtime, Dan is unwittingly sabotaging all of his own life goals & Kanda ends up sexually confused.

Pavilion of Destruction: This story is a twist on one of her older stories; Rikara, only that the lovebirds have been merged into a single protagonist. Spoiled brat Sai-Mon Kei (hehe, sounds like Sea Monkey) has had little to no interaction with his bisexual womanizing harem-owning step father. The one time Sai-Mon Ei notices him, he hits on him. At first Kei is pissed, then he realizes he's super turned-on & totally loses his shit.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He becomes rebellious, breaking expensive things, scalps his father's harem, & rapes the first boy he comes in contact with, then goes out of his way to piss off Ei at every turn.
It should be noted that there's a surprising amount of hentai in this story, despite it being yaoi. It's also probably the only Mizukami manga with hentai in it.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Ei has a strong preference for women, Kei is strictly gay, but gets a woman pregnant so his father can't marry her. Kei marries the woman his father wants out of spite while continuing to collect male prostitutes.

A Good Compilation

Dreamy Pavilion - The artwork was lovely in this one-shot, but I just felt like it was... missing something. It had action and humor and smut, of course... but it just lacked a certain emotional connection.

Harem for Two - I think this story suffered from being too short! It felt rushed and not very... complete. I'm not one to expect a full volume's worth of story in a one-shot, but this one felt clipped even by my standards. I just didn't really have time to get connected to any characters or the romance itself.

Resigned Decision - This 2 chapter story is brilliant. There isn't much smut (which fits it), but there is lots of humor and charming characters. As much as I love Mizukami's dark smutty yaoi, I think this light-hearted romp is actually one of my favorites of her works.

Pavilion of Destruction - I hate when there's random one-shot prequel/sequels thrown into random compilations of other stories. I feel like it ruins the sequence of events. Luckily, I read this after reading "Legend of Kinpeibai - Kiss of Fire". I think it makes the most sense that way. Still, this is a very dark story. There's no happy ending here - and that works for the story. However, I think it comes as a major downer after the good-hearted fun of "Resigned Decision". The order of these stories should have really been changed. Despite all of that, this one-shot is a good one when taken on its own merits. It also explains quite a bit about the character of Saimon from "Legend of Kinpeibai".

Collection of oneshots. I really liked the 3rd story whichs plays in the present time and the 1st story wasnt bad too. The rest is well... maybe not what everybody likes. I am really not sure how to rate it. The 3rd story would be a 10 but the last story would be maybe a 2...
