I liked it, it had potential to be great but stopped at mediocre. The thing is the story lacked more...well story and most of all depth. Felt like the plot stopped midway and the author in a rush of desperation included some meh sex scene to trick the reader into feeling that there was -some- closure to the story. I usually like Okadaya Tetuzoh, but this was not her best.

Would read it anyway though, it's not bad. It just isn't a masterpiece.

I liked this manga but I felt like something was missing. I think it's the contrast between the drama from the beginning of the story and the lack of it near the end. The author tried to make the character's past dramatic, but when the time for resolution came I felt it lacked an impact. Still good story though, and the art is gorgeous, but not to everyone's taste.

Could have been extraordinary

Oh man, talk about what could have been. The premise to this was heavenly and incredibly intriguing, only for the story to boil down to a sappy love story that develops so quickly and abruptly you hardly have the time to catch up to these characters' feelings. I still quite like some of it though, especially when the art is just so exquisite, too exquisite to completely turn on it. If only there were more space for a fuller development.

This was amazing! The art was fantastic and the background details (of both the art and story) were so on point. The mangaka definitely did her research for this.

Both MCs were so well fleshed out, they felt real to me. The story was unique and beautiful. Just the kind of freshness I needed for my yaoi-weary eyes!

The sex wasn't as explicit as other Okadaya works, but it was romantic and sexy all the same. Plus, Mani was hot as hell and Zomu was the innocent-sexy type.

I found every part of this story very romantic and many parts warmed my heart. I was very touched by Zomi's earnest efforts to get Mani back to the island, by Mani's confession that he was afraid to go back there and that he "hated" his origins as people made him feel less than because of his tribal tattoos, by Mani's resolve to cure his lover's disease in the end. Beautiful art, very unique concept. Manly couple, though I would have prefered Mani as the dominant partner or at least for them to be a reverse couple (well, the smut scenes were very lukewarm to say the least). Definitely worth reading it.
