That ending though.

All of that for nothing. The ending was so bad that no one is translating the final novel nor the manga anymore. The ending will leave you disappointed, felt like the author chicken out on having the MC to choose someone fearing backlash.

Generic romantic comedy, until volume 8, where it becomes a compelling story of (un)requited love

I'll be honest, everything up to volume 8 is just simple character development in the midst of humorous yet bland storytelling.

The characters themselves are nothing special, and don't really progress further than cliched archtypes.

That said, this all changes in volume 8,

At the end of volume 8 it is revealed that the MC and all other major characters indeed have a grasp of their romantic entanglements, this isn't just a bullshit harem with weak characters anymore, these girls and the guy are coming to terms with what it is to fall in love, to have a relationship, and to balance friendships with multiple people in the face of adversity and immense jealousy. Characters are revealed to be fundementally distrusting of some of their counterparts.

The story takes a turn from bland, boring, and staple, to nuvaeu and shatters previous conceptions about these characters. No longer are they archetypal, these characters finally begin to become three-dimensional.

And it is with this, that I can confidently say that this is now one of the most well-written and well thought out works out there, and as somone who has read hundreds of volumes of light novels, this one now easily breaks into the top 1% of compelling storytelling and innovative character development

Love this series SO MUCH. The characters are amazing! So funny and endearing. The work is a very enjoyable read -- you can really empathize with the characters. As more chapters come out you get a better understanding of the characters' motivations, but the selling point of this light novel is the silly interactions among the characters and the relaxed writing style.

the characters lack depth and are stereotyped, but are handled unusually well and the craziness pretty grounded making you able to relate to it to a scale that's uncommon in these kind of works.

this is a cheap teen novel, read it and such and you'll enjoy it since it's good for being one of those, however if you expect something mature, intelligent and deep, you are clearly lost.
