Main story's fine, oneshot is not.

Konbini-kun is pretty great. I liked how Hiroshi tries to rebuild his life and how well that goes with just a bit of acknowledgement and a few encouraging words. It's not a complicated story and that's precisely why it works. Kunieda, his former crush, also comes across as sympathetic; him and Hiroshi are, after all, teenagers growing up in an environment that's not kind to gay people, and neither of them knows how to navigate that. And Kouhei is a great and supportive friend and, later, boyfriend to Hiroshi.

Youthful Love is...not as good. I sympathized with Haru and disliked how the story implied that he was immature for getting upset that Ito put the bare minimum of effort into their relationship. I suppose it can be realistic in that communication isn't always perfect, but Ito came across as the immature one in spite of his age, and never apologized nor promised to pick up the slack.
Oh, and it's never stated anywhere in the story that Haru and Ito used to be student and teacher, as another review implies. They met when Ito was a high school student, "as a result of taking the same class", so it likely means that Haru asked Ito to tutor him. And just for the record: this Haru isn't the same as the one from Konbini-kun, they're different characters.

While the main story is great, the oneshot leaves a lot to be desired, and feels like a step down from a 9 to a 6.

I want to yawp on top of a mountain about how good this is. What I loved is the fact that it combined your usual cheesy, boys love sweetness with actual reality. That sense of realness is what really makes this manga. The dynamic of the characters is done so well too and Junko took what seemed to be a major problem and dealt with it in a somewhat realistic tone and in a way that all people should react to something like this. The characters personalities work very well together and the "seme," for a lack of a better word (of which this word is not the correct to use because it doesn't bring justice to the character), is one that is really interesting and I believe a lot of people desire in boy loves manga. That and there's a kitten in it to boot. There's nothing not to like in this comic, so go read!

Why can't everyone be like Yamai??

He's so refreshingly down to earth. Like when everyone else is blowing everything up in typical manga theatrics he's the only one that realizes it's just a bunch of rumors. Like chill u guys, it's not the end of the goddamn world. And then he's not as dense as 99% of manga characters are and can actually clue in when someone is painfully obvious about their crush on him... Just read it. It's amazing, it's like someone dropped a normal person into a typical manga story.

Cute, short and sweet, and I can understand why people like it. But I didn't find it particularly memorable, maybe because it was so short and there wasn't much time to bond with the characters?

This was a nice read. Probably one of the more enjoyable BLs I've read in a while. Lots of people have pointed out how sweet it is and what not. but that isn't what did it for me.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It was probably the fact that the main character wasn't instantly ok with himself. I think the biggest problem I have ever had with a BL was that every guy was like "omg I love guys! I shall sing it to the world!" This story didn't do that. The poor guy struggles with the social stigma that loving guys has. It makes his story seem so much more real and the ending so much more fullfilling.

Only down side is that as good at it is, it's simple enough that it isn't the most memorable story out there. Still a refreshing read, but it's gunna be one of those stories that resurfaces in my mind one day weeks from now, but I'll fixate on for a while trying to remember the the title.

Very cute yet slow paced manga. Yes, this is a simple manga but I think a lot of people can relate to this story being it's a romance, specifically members of the LGBT community. It certainly hit close to home at many times for me, but it's a good feeling to have every so often. That's probably why this manga has received the high rating that it has... If you're looking for smut, look elsewhere because this definitely isn't it. But if you want a short yet enjoyable romance then you've come to the right place.

Definitely a necessary read for any yaoi aficionado. Even though it could use some more chapters (what the hell, make it a multi-volume series, eheh), it can still play very well with one's emotions. It was for the most part a comedy, of course, and yet Endou's story is so compelling, so painful, one is bound to feel for him despite the constant stupid look on his face. Where "School Life meets Comedy" is concerned, this one was by far one of the best "coming out" stories I've encountered. At least in the end of the day Endou's attitudes make sense to me.

In the beginning, the one thing I struggled a little bit with was the art. Yamai's expression had no light, no real meaning to me -- and I don't mean it was of the "I look cool and down on everyone else" kind of expression, I do mean empty. Somewhere around chapter 2 I wasn't so aware of it, so I'll say it grew on me.

Bottom line is: a very good manga throughout, very innocent (not so much towards the end, if y'know what I mean), has a great feeling to it, plus an extremely lovable uke, which - I find - is not very common.

I agree with a lot of the comments here, this story is just so cute~! As with all of Junko-sensei's works, the art makes this even more adorable too! ^__^

What I like the most about this, is how the relationship progresses in quite a natural way. Neither of them particularly liked the other at first, then slowly they became friends, then that turned into more. It's not one of those "fall in love at first sight, confess straight away, then have sex immediately after" plots, it takes a bit of time for them to get that far.

Also as other people have mentioned, both main characters are so loveable! The uke is quite timid, and does cry quite a bit, but once you've found out about his past it's completely understandable! When I first read what happened to him, I was actually on the verge of tears, because it really does seem like something that cruel kids might do. The seme is just awesome really. Read it, and I can guarantee that you'll agree!

I personally loved the sex scene. Some people said it was a little bit forced, but I completely disagree. It happened so naturally, just like everything else in their relationship. I happen to think that their first time together was incredibly sweet, not overly graphic or kinky, just two boys in love taking their relationship to the next level ♥
But if you're not into seeing those type of intimate scenes, then just skip the final chapter. This manga is good as shounen-ai if you only read upto chapter 4. The 5th chapter is where it gets a little steamy.

All-in-all this is a lovely manga ^__^
