This is a story about hospitals and chairs.

OK OK OK it's a bit more than that. I was ready to throw my laptop out the window a few times. I should have learned my lesson from Peach Girl hahaha.

It wasn't great, but its still a pretty nice manga
It had lots of positives and negatives, so I cant say it was either good or bad... just average
Art is fine too

One thing I can say is that HANA wuz a pain! I would break all ties with a sister like that!

I find that as the series develops, the characters that weren't likable in the beginning become likable. such as ageha's twin. she's become such an admirable person in the manga. while ageha has just... urgh lols whine... cry... jump to conclusions. I'm still reading it though

I don't understand how the ratings for this manga is so high.. It wasn't that great! Way too cliche and the characters pissed me off. It looks as if people are comparing this to peach girl and yeah, i can see the similarity but for some reason i liked peach girl better. Anyways, this manga was too sweet for me.

It pissed me off how Ryuusei always got tricked by the twin sister! I mean yeah they look exactly the same but cmon man, you should know your girlfriend, it was totally ridiculous. I also hate how frikkin clingy and weak Ageha is. All she does is get jealous over everything and is friggin paranoid about her sister! I mean yeah, her sister's a total bitch but dude, live your life who gives a shit about her. She's always goin "help help" and ugh, "character development" my ass. The ending was so lame.. too cliche, too corny, too obvious. Overall, this was a little too much for me.

Okay, so every chapter of this manga is pure cliché - and I'm really not exaggerating that. You'd think it'd be really boring, but no! Papillon absolutely revels in itself and turns those clichés up to 11. It's amazing.

To start with, you have the twin girls - one is beautiful and popular, the other is nerdy and plain. Suddenly there are impersonations of each other and a wonderful make-over of the nerdy one! There's a student-teacher love affair, too, with secrets and sneaking around. There are traumatic "pasts" for everyone, even if they're too young to really have a "past" and the trauma is kind of a lot lame. There are jealous exes and dead exes and will-they-or-won't-they over and over and over again...

And then there's the fact that almost every chapter ends on a cliffhanger, but every dramatic turn of plot is resolved neatly at most 3 chapters later - usually by that oh-so-handy "never mind! it was a misunderstanding after all!" ultimate solution to all our shoujo problems.

So, yes, it's been done and done and done. But somehow, I found this series to be completely charming and fun. Part of it was in trying to guess what the next bit of drama would be or how the Never Mind would work out, but also I found myself loving every minute of cliché, like when you're watching soap operas not because they're particularly suspenseful or well-acted, but because it's fun to really get into the game and be shocked and dismayed and surprised and so on, even if it's all kind of silly and a rehash of everything that's come before.

One of the great things about Papillon for indulging the shoujo cliché train is that the plot twists do resolve themselves fairly quickly, rather than dragging out forever, so the series makes for a fairly swift read, especially if you're just wanting to indulge a bit in pure sugary drama.

...it's halfway through the manga when you get to see the slightly interesting parts compared to how it started out as Ageha being an annoying self-absorbed crybaby. I got really frustrated with her jumping to conclusions and running away all the time whenever she misunderstands something.
Seemingly unattractive and unpopular female;male who can't seem to get over his somewhat "tragic" past, and an overly insecure set of females ogling at the male. Ahh..so the cycle repeats itself.
It's pretty darn cliche if you ask me,but I got so used to her hysterics most of the time that I still decided to continue this series. Well, ironic as it seems, the art was still very convincing as it is...which is,for the most, probably the only thing that made this series striking and settling at the same time.
Don't get me wrong.

Both a good and bad read

I would probably like this story more if Ageha choose a better boyfriend. Unfortunately, he is a self-centered and promiscuous like kind of guy, who is caught up in his past. Therefore, it's hard to stomach the continuation of their romance, when Ageha has to bend over backwards for him. Also, her sister Hana is such an evil twin with a histrionic personality. It would be much better if Ageha didn't keep things so copasetic for a change.

As others have said, I can see the similarities to Peach Girl (it IS the same author), but I wouldn't say it's exactly the same. More that if you enjoyed PG you'll prob like this, and if you didn't you prob wont.

That aside, I wouldn't say this is anything particularly special. It's not awful, but it's full of cliches. Normally, I don't really mind that, but they're not really executed well. For example, we have the student-teacher relationship...kind of? No one seems to care at all, and they really make no effort to hide this. (so all the tension that makes that type of relationship interesting isn't really there) Not to mention is guy is the WORST counselor ever! seriously! His adviser encourages him? ugh. Also, there's the beauty transformation, which is all well and good...but her personality seems to transform along with her looks, and not in the good way. Usually you'd end up with a pretty girl who retains some of her old personality quirks, but she mostly becomes a pathetic, insecure, whiny brat (not much unlike the evil twin). There's also all the twin switching that goes on, but that's expected with any story involving twins, and isn't all that bad.

Despite these annoyances, I've still enjoyed reading this for the most part. If you don't mind cliche's and really enjoyed peach girl I'd say give it a shot. Otherwise, move on to something else...

at first I found it nice to read : the beginning is nice and you want to know more (I have never read Peach girl before so... ) BUT the more I read, the more I could not stand Ageha becomes irritating ! just like her sister ! lol I mean at first she was a crybaby but she has something strong in her but after she was always crying and whining I could not stand it... I just quit reading it...

I liked this manga , it was a good love story and I liked the art too . If you want to read a sweet love story with so many surprising , try this !
at first I thought that It's similar to "peach girl" but when you read more & more you realize that they are soooo different ....
In the middle of the story you can't guess at all that who they will end up with and I liked it , because I always can guess the end easily
so to put it in short this is a simple & light & sweet story smile
