Great series that is very addicting, can't get enough. The characters all have backgrounds, most very thorough, some intended to be vague. The new characters as they are introduced are very likable too. Just don't like waiting for the next chapter.

Fascinating World and Characters

Ahh..I remember the day (not really) when the prologue first appeared, I was a goner. Back then, I didn't know why, but I had this exhiliratingly giddy feeling of something amazing coming my way. And I was right!

What I liked about it is that the author incorporates Hindu mythology (albeit loosely, as the author stated) to Kubera's worldbuilding, but makes it its own. It gets better on later chapters as we are shown more of their world/s structure, lots of character development in which we see or get a feel of various undercurrents between characters, their motives and what drives them to do what they do.

I like almost all of the characters, I can understand why some might find Leez dumb and annoying especially in the beginning, since she lacks education and experience and we are not informed of her background much. Anyway I'm excited to see her character develop more. That's it for now.

I'm looking forward to part two of Kubera.

Season 2:

Kubera is still awesome and getting better and better. I'm still in love with the story ♡.

I have no idea why i started reading Kubera at first, but i remember thinking it wasn't really anything special. Boy, I was wrong.
I dropped it since it was still pretty new and I decided to read it after more chapters came out. When I picked it up again I was almost shocked at how well the story unfolded. At first I thought the heroine was annoying and the side characters boring and very hard to symphatize. However, the author slowly developed each character making you, as the reader, more and more attached to each one of them. In the end you start feeling that even the furthest side character is deserving of your attention.
The setting gets also explained with time and after reading quite a few chapters you get to see that more than an action story, Kubera is a mistery with elements of action and (for now subtle) hints of romance.
You won't like it if you prefer fast pacing webtoons with easily likeable characters, but you will love it if you enjoy the fusion fantasy genre, a slow story which promises to unfold into something epic and definite but unhurried character growth. The reason for the deliberate speed of the story might be related to the fact that the author first imagined Kubera as a novel.
The art may not be the most revolutionary, but I find Kubera overall so enjoyable that i really don't regret rating it with a 10. Of course, the rating is valid for what was written until now, the comic is still a long way from finished. If the quality changes and the story becomes a real let down I'll be sure to change my small review as well.

It Gets Better. It Gets Amazingly Better.

At first I kind of thought this was a kind of meh series, kind of good but only when you're bored, but the more I read the more it was easy to get into the story and characters and plot. It's an interesting world the author's created and it has kind of a cool mythology. Gods, Sura of different types, half-sura, magicians, ordinary humans, mystical objects and mysterious strangers disguised as human. It's an epic fantasy that does a pretty good job taking turns making me curious to read more and making me crack up laughing--plus lots of eye candy without being dirty.

And I love the characters. Villains or heroes, everyone's got secrets and things they want to protect or accomplish no matter what. Most have a good amount of depth and personality and lovability. Asha and Ghandarva and Agni and God Kubera especially seems to have some interesting things going on. And Yuta. I love Yuta. And though some seem to hate her, personally the main character doesn't seem annoying at all to me. She is a bit dumb and doesn't know how to read other people's moods at all or understand the importance of situations but in a way that makes her kind of interesting. She's got some tantalizing hints drifting around about the importance of her real name, her strength, her role in the story but as of yet she's acting the part of a side character--she's the comedy relief (I think she's hilarious), always in Asha's way, causing trouble and getting pushed aside by characters with more storyline and plot developement. For a main character she doesn't get as much of a spotlight for the time being. And that only makes me want to know more.

Not many series keep my attention continuously for this long. I think it's a win. A definite win.

awful heroine

To me this story is a bad mixture of epic and comedy. The heroine is, as another reviewer mentioned, dim-witted to the extreme. This was especially apparent, when she met an important character for the first time, who was all cool, angst and epic, while she, unaware of the atmosphere, was behaving so unrealistically, as if she came from some kind of awkward comedy.

According to the story, Kubara becomes "normal" (maybe even clever) when she is grown, but considering, that we are around 100 chapters and little progress has been made, I feel we are 100 years too early to expect any kind of serious character development.

Asha should have been a boy :(

I dislike the main character; she's dim-witted, naive and annoying. That said, she is strong (literally) and quick to acknowledge her mistakes...but that just makes me wonder why she even made them in the first place. (Edit: now her dumbness really is annoying me. The MC is the main reason why I would stop reading this. I haven't decided yet whether I'll drop it, but it hasn't been interesting lately. There are too many secrets; the auhtor shows tantelising hints then fails to explain which is really annoying.) I also think that Asha should've been a boy. I actually thought she was until the MC made a comment about her skirt.
Aside from that, this is a slow moving story; I would be lying if I said it kept my interest until it got interesting. If you perservere with this, it gets more interesting and readable, but really? it's just doesn't have that good a beginning.

Well they come out quite slowly compared to the series' status in Korea. I wished I could read Korean q.q

I like this kind of plot (quirky girl with a mystery has to flee from her village and go on an adventure), so I'm probably biased when I say: This comic is great!!

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
And it's just so funny how Kubera always runs away from Asha's overprotectiveness haha

It has good art, good plot and some humour.
There is an underlying mystery about Kubera and the gods. I'm curious about everyones' pasts--since I don't really know much about hindu gods and all (they seem cool though)

It's also rather refreshing to see a rather strong female lead. There seems to be room for character development (especially in Kubera). She might seem naive and all, but she really is learning and improving.
