here's to his resurrection

Is everyone currently forgetting the pill he ate? I'm sure Chunwoo didnt.
1. its increased his Ki by several hundred times to something almost = to that of the 9 arts dragon. 2. it "gave him the regenerative powers of a Planaria". which is probably the only reason why he is still alive.
3. ITS IN HIS BLOOD!!!
Despite the fact that his Ki center was destroyed the pill is still within his blood and therefor the effects are neutralized. once it heals his body, it'll get his Ki center, then begin restoring his Ki. Chunwoo knew this and destroyed the center so the Murim would think him down and out. What would be the point of leaving him the phone with the videos of all the techniques to learn if he would make it impossible to learn and pass it down?
He knew the pill would save and restore him and all he did was save him for the Murim and buy him time.

The first Breaker was pretty great and it started off with a lot of humor. Goomoonryong acted like the classic pervy sensei who also dispensed tough love on Shioon. The series pretty much had Shioon getting his butt kicked most of the time and the action didn't really become epic until the end. It also had some tragedy with certain characters dying. The story was really about the master and student relationship which included Shioon and his master and Goomoonryong and his master too.

New Waves takes place within a few weeks after that climactic battle. This story of course focuses on new characters as well as Shioon. So I expect somethings to take time to flesh out. The story seems in part dealing with the story behind the Sunwoo clan which was severely weakened because some had supported Goomoonryong after the famous tournament (this was first mentioned in the original Breaker). Its going to take time for Shioon to develop new abilities (as of chapter 29 we seem to have gotten a hint where this is going), introduce new characters and I'm sure reintroduce old ones from the original breaker. We may see Sosul reappear but I'm sure it will take time for her to get healthy and that will probably be later than sooner.

So far New Waves is not bad. Shioon is finally showing some backbone and he seems to be developing a potential harem (Sahee, Sosul, Jini, etc.). My only complaints are that we don't see enough of Sahee. Shioon goes thru a lot to protect her, and he credits her and his master as changing him but she's almost never around. My other complaint is he may be developing the talent of making people like him or changing people, this sounds a little too Naruto-like. Its also not quite as funny as the first chapters in the original and I think the story is a little choppy having moved to a weekly schedule. I tend to wait until there is 4-5 chapters out and read them together and I find the story is a bit smoother that way.

However, I do not find it boring. I think it still has a lot of potential. Some of the critics here seem to forget it wasn't action every chapter in the first Breaker and Shioon was a punching bag for most of that series. However, he put up a helluva fight towards the end of that series. If people just want endless fighting chapter after chapter (sometimes hundreds of chapters) with no character development or almost no plot beyond "he's the bad guy, must beat him up!" Then go ahead and read Bleach or Dragonball there's plenty of that in those manga. Me? I will stick with New Waves and give the author and artist a chance to develop the story, they deserve the chance after creating the excellent original.

As of now I will give it a 9, subject to change if the series gets better or takes a nose dive.
***********update************
Ok, so it was starting to look up briefly (Shioon's fight with sword boy was pretty good), but now that I'm at chapter 75 I'm wondering if its ever going to stop dragging. I think the new weekly format might be really hurting it. The original Breaker had a good balance of comedy, action and drama. I'm finding the comedy in NW lame, the action meh, and the drama forced. I'm downgrading it to an 8 and we will see if it continues to drop or if it can right itself.

I can't understand where your problem lies.the serialization was increased from monthly to weekly so of course the development will be slower.I think some people should consider this fact before saying the manhwa turned bad suddenly.
I don't agree that shion has regressed to the sissy he was in th breaker 1.he isn't back to being a coward he just hasn't the power to be awesome in an ordinary way like beating up people left an right.
the manhwa couldn't continue with his insane growth since it would have become boring very soon and the amount of possible chapters would also decrease by far.
It is false that there is no character-development but the focus isn't on shion right now since he developed so much in the breaker 1.the characters around him are developing since they weren't introduced before.shion will probably develop further when he has to make decisions as the sun-woo clan-leader for which the "political" situation of his world has to be explained first what is done right now.
For the thing "teenagers who save the world"....it's a bit nervewrecking but the older and therefore stronger murim-in can't be made to take him full with a broken ki-center so his enemies can,at first, only be enemies of his master or people his own age.
the manhwa has much potential so it is a bit rash and unfair to abandon it just like that

To all the retards who are complaining about "slow" plot development and "lame" characters, please move out of America. Learn to enjoy the full game and don't just thrive on the highlights.

NW is not just about Shioon. It's also about Jini. It's about the Murim and the Murim world. If Shioon could just recover from the "destruction" of his Ki centre that quickly, there would not be much point in it, right? If you want to complain about dodgy plots and plot-points, complain about the rather contrived point of how Shioon got access to the SunWoo medicine ball in the prequel or with the whole SUC business in this sequel.

This manwha is great, alot of people go on about that he should get his power back.
While I think not getting his (full) power back is a good way to not make all characters retardedly strong... If you are going to read this expect weak but infamous person in a violent world where almost everyone is against him. At least till chapter 14 (latest chapter now).
It was almost impossible not to do this because with the powerlevel he had (over 9000) the only opponents he could fight were the bosses and now he has to fight persons of low/medium level.
While being extremely weak (right now).
If you want a manga that not has the man character plowing trough everything and if he's stuck getting some stupid uncreative powerup this is not for you.
If you want over the top powerfull characters go read some dragonball Z.

I must admit I´m a bit Shocked at the people who Complain that it´s SLOW. I mean, really? My dear bunnies, have you even read the prequel? Do you have an idea how slow it was until it finally came into the story and moved to it´s climax? Well, by your comments, I don´t think you know. So let me tell you how it is instead.

The Breaker ( the Prequel of New Waves ) took approximately 30-40 chapters to intruduce the characters, trying to build a climax and making the story interesting. Yes that´s slow, compared to other manga that start feeding us the whole story from the beginning, but I think that´s the charm of this manga. The lack of immediate progression makes the story have a nice flow to it and you can easily get into the story without thinking that too much is going on. Wich is good, because I personally hate when things happen too fast or when too much is going on ( I have a very popular manhwa in mind, but I´m not gonna mention it this time because I would probably get eaten up by it´s fans *shivers* )

Anyhow, it´s too early to judge this manga. I don´t know if it´s gonna be almost as long as the prequel ( the breaker was a bit too short in my opinion ), but I hope it doesn´t and considering that this is released by web I think that this will probably be longer. Either way, so far, the manga is good and in the latest chapters it´s getting better.

The only thing I hate about it is the chapter's are too SHORT! LoL! It's a great Martial Art manga and definitely one of the best. The story progress is Slow and Steady but I still love it. It takes a few chapters to get to the point. My advice is read only after 5 or more chapter's already released if you're impatient otherwise it'll be torture.

AHHHHHHHHHHH This manhwa is THE BEST action graphic novel(i say GN because it inculdes manhwa/manga/manhua etc) I have ever known nor seen!!!!!! It is like the Ocean, everytime I take a sip, it leaves me quenching for MORE! The beginning is not that action packed, but OMGGGGG later on it amazing!!! ~ch50+

Edit: I fucking hate all the bad reviews, and the people who dropped this manhwa are pitiful because:
ONE: The Breaker: New Waves isn't number one on the MU stats for being boring.
TWO: The Breaker was a monthly manhwa and Shioon was gaining power incredibly fast, and if he was to continue growing, it would have been DBZ all over again.
THREE: The Breaker: New Waves is becoming even more epic as of late (chapter ~50+) Chapter 60 is just plain awesome, and if you drop it, sucks that you won't pick it back up.

I thought things would pick up, but it feels like they never did.

As one more recent reviewer mentioned, once the MC gets into a position of power, his 'niceness' is revealed for what it is: milksop weakness, wishy-washyness, and generally just major lameness.

The harem the MC develops is very indicative of his castrated nature: that loser seemingly decided he will be a virgin for life ('cuz that's 'nice', I guess?), in spite of all the freaking gorgeous pussy throwing itself at him? So annoying!

Very little of what is going on really makes sense in the larger story (especially when you include the prequel), and after a while of MC-lameness and meandering story, I just lost interest and stopped reading.

Freaking MC needs to MAN UP.
