Description

The year is 2130. Following the Third World War, extensive contaminated zones called "Blackspots" emerged across Japan. Enormous Walls were erected to isolate these Blackspots. Over time, signs of life began to emerge within these desolate areas. Among the survivors left behind in the Blackspots, deemed "those who were unneeded," individuals with extraordinary abilities surfaced – fire, wind, superhuman strength... They were distinguished by their supernatural powers. However, others, frightened by their abilities, cast them out and branded them as "Needless."

Piece of crap not worth reading. The highlight of this series is the action but...

The action isn't that good. Fight scenes are just people constantly screaming at top of each other with barely any strategizing. Shitty power system and ability makes the fights lack any creativity. No tension whatsoever. Just "cliffhanger" reveal after reveal to string the readers (while being uber lame and predictable as typical of many pre-2010 manga lol). Feels extremely flanderizing and parody-ish. Has that classic Trigger vibe of just extreme reaction one after another without any nuances and plot. Literally has nothing to offer that other series can do better. It's just not engaging nor immersive due to failing in every areas... Except one: the adult male character designs do look kinda cool, like the "gar" shit Studio Trigger pulls out.

Even fanservice wise with the artstyle it lacks variety... like they mostly have loli-ish bodies. But the extremely angular line strokes doesn't even make them look appealing. And to make "loli" undressed the author chose to have the main MALE protagonist (a LITERAL 12 YEARS OLD) become a "trap" so that we can have "legal" lolish physique with the torso exposed... Lmao. Feels like an attempt to circumvent ways to show jailbait lmao. Just fucking gross lol. The non loli-ish girls also lack any hint of sexiness, no sensual curves whatsover.

Like why would you read this? Shit action. Shit fanservice. Gross force fem of male protagonist so that you can uhhhh expose a feminine looking underage character's chest without backlash. Even Astolfo from Apocrypha and Onimai is less overt than this crap and handles such gender bender tropes and developments with more sensibilities. This one is just using gender bending elements gratuitously without even it being done for good funny laughs. Just... Ew lol. (I usually like ecchi gender bender so this is just shit lol)

This series tries to be "crazy" for shock effect without fully leering nor committing to the craziness. Just read Rosen Garten Saga which at least doesn't shy away from it. And that one has better drawn loli, more variety of sexy onee-san than this crap (I swear the older female characters in Needless feel like a slightly aged up loli-ish physique with that shitty art style making and the female characters look prepubescent and just slapped some grapefruit on them because the breasts look so shit like implanted balloons), and cooler males and transformation scenes as well as fight scenes. If you want to read a action series with proper slow burn and strategizing go with World Trigger (which is a bit similar for both series are scifi action ish). If you want a series with super hyped fights just any action Mangas after 2019 should fit the bill (thank God the standards have risen after One Punch Man)... Like just pick something from Shounen Jump like Jujutsu Kaisen, Bleach, Kagurabachi and these will be miles better than this...thing. (Being in the category of focusing mainly on action)

Just remembering that I've chose to read this series is painful. Please, spare yourself from the pain and go for something better.

bonus: shitty non consensual feminization stripping the MC of agency like Boku Girl but worst and gave me a painful cringe. Makes Made In Abyss gratuitous fanservice looks bearable lol!

Who does this even appeal to? Maybe the unlucky slob who doesn't have anything else to read; or someone who lacks frames of reference of better action manga. Or a lack of standards it seeing some cool looking guys is enough to sate you.

But nah, just being GAR ain't gonna save you from my assessment that this is still a shit series. Performative elements ain't enough. Feels like it's riding on the tailcoat of popular GAR TV shows like Gurren lagann of that era.

I loved the pictures of the all the dudes drawn in here... I mean... wow. For gay guys and girls, the pictures can be definitely be used for "extracurricular" activities. Anyways, I so hated the ending. What kind of ending was that? I mean... thank goodness, it wasn't a cliffhanger or anything, but it wasn't even rushed... it was just... incomplete. No, not incomplete. It just... was not... it could have been better. Yeah, the ending could have been better. I'm just glad I am done with this manga. It was most definitely a one time read manga. I don't think I will ever reread this, but maybe to drool over the pictures, hahahaha =D

Perfect Manga for a boring moment

I saw the anime first and then continued with the manga. The characters are funny and enjoyable. Unlike most manga of its type which introduced characters and kill them off quickly, there are many recurring characters other than the main characters, so a consistent story is maintained.

Please dont quite after the first few chapters. I recommend watching the anime to know the first half of the series and then continuing with the manga.

this is one of the best shouen manga ever!!!!! XD it's actiony, and the art spports the plot, and the humor just don't stop coming XD i literally laughed every page, and the humour isn't too cliche or forced and the art work is clean, and i just can't stop reading it XDXDXDXD also, in most shouen manga, i don't really cheer on and hope the main character to win, since it's pretty obvious who's going to win or not, but this is so much twist XD i was litterally urging blade and the others to win 😀

This is a manga featuring plentiful fanservice (every girl becomes mostly naked at some point during a fight), excessive violence and extreme badassery (every male fighter only wears a badass longcoat in place of a shirt), done in a fashion that seems stupid at first glance yet evidently reeks of much genre savvy (the author makes many blatant references). These elements are no doubt supposed to appeal to the inner teenager of every male reader, the readers know this, the author knows this and the story does not even pretend to take itself seriously. It is the kind of series that knows the unreasonable audience only tune in for godzilla, and focuses on giving them their godzilla.

Though I don't particularly like how they treat deaths so lightly. I'm not being soft-hearted, this is something you have to read and see for yourself.

It would probably most appeal to the jaded readers looking for some wacky entertainment.

At first I thought it sucked based on the first half of volume one but by volume two I rather enjoyed it.

For one thing, it is hilarious. It is mainly a fight manga and it gives off that feeling but it's funny almost every page. that goes a long way into raising this above average.

The plot is similar to X-men and S-cry-ed, but I think it might have a twist down the end. So far they apparently get their powers from mutations due to fall out from a third world war but it seems at one point someone had all the powers and they are already documented so I don't think that was the reason everyone else has them or even the original.

The action is constant and the powers wildly different, I don't usually like it in manga when the same power source has given such different powers but at least the main characters powers are consistent throughout their battles, meaning they defeat people through good implementation of abilities you already know about and that's a plus in my book.

The art is very stylized, at first I didn't like it but now I think it's fine. It isn't lacking, it doesn't seem like the artist lacks skill, I mean. One minor problem is that the women are drawn a very specific way. It is minor because it isn't exactly bad but I guess it may not be ideal. They tend to look very young, small, and skinny.

In the first couple of chapter, there's a little boy that seems like the main character that's a total wuss. he's a huge factor in why its unlikable at first, along with not knowing how the story is told(hilariously). But after the humour sets in, he's more comic relief but it's still set up so that he may become strong or useful or cool. So they sort of fixed his unlikability.

Only read 9 chapters, I couldn't get any further because it was pretty dumb. The art is ok, not great. So far it doesn't know if it wants to be serious or over-the-top. I think its trying to be too many things at once and it just makes it a big mess.

Got to agree that the first and second arcs have their own feel to them.

Heck you even have the added subgenre of gender bender to throw in there It's a bit pointless and at face value same-old same-old. However a good infusion of action and humor as well as good art help make it a good enough read.

If you ask me, this series has two parts to it: chapters 1-50, and the chapters after that. The (current) scanlation gap is covered by the anime until the anime-only ending, so if you've seen that you have a pretty good idea of what goes on in the gap.

The first 50 chapters are okay - a fun read, but nothing too special. It's mainly a lot of GAR and action with gags mixed in, and they set up the series' background and characters. Then the first main story arc ends and the second part starts up, which is where I think the series kicks off. There's less GAR and action/random destruction but the overall series seems to get more interesting, a lot funnier, and develops a better plot structure than the earlier "fight enemy, do something crazy/GAR/both, somehow run into next enemy in power hierarchy, rinse & repeat."

Although I might be biased because (personal opinion)

I was never much of a fan of the Father (or Blade, or whatever he was called), so when that incident happened and he vanished the series got a lot more stable. Although it seems like he might be coming back (chapter 71 was just released), so who knows if that's what did it...

Don't read if you don't understand the title to preserve your eyes

For now..It's just very GAR. and that's all. Stereotypical powers on the main characters with pretty good art. One can hope the plot would be good as well. A hint of comedy also increases this reader's interests in this manga. Did I mention it's also just very GAR ...just very very GAR
