I can't tell if I'm reading the same manga as the other reviewers. This manga is quite deep -- it makes you think about what it means to live in the moment, what role the past and future should play in the present, and whether people have control over their destinies. The romance between Kanade and Arou is also very charming and heartfelt (especially with Arou being one of the kindest male leads ever written in a shoujo manga). The mangaka does an amazing job conveying the light and gentle feelings that embody the spirit of shoujo manga, while avoiding all the usual cringeworthy cliches and pitfalls. This is definitely one of the best mangas I've read, and I have read a lot.

A good read with a good plot but there seemed to be a loose tie at the end. I think the ending could have been much, much better but overall it was a fun story with some very touching moments but still there was so much room for more touching moments that could made this story a 10.
are you serious?

Wow.. people who gave this manga such low ratings obviously like those typical shoujo-i'm weak, help me- aren't i cute- manga's -.- If you don't like manga's with an actual plot (no not those "love at first sight" ideas), character development, deep thinking and growth in relationships (the real way as in by getting to know the person) then just go read something else.
I think this manga is really one of a kind how it blends romance and supernatural events together. It was really interesting to see their world through their eyes. The whole concept of being able to see the past and future is in itself unique because i really haven't heard of a manga like this. Absolutely loved it.

Wow, I cried a couple times. xD
You don't see a manga very often that takes a couple, puts them together in the cutest of ways, and then manages to continue for fourty chapters through thick and thin and adorable in their relationship. Many seem to kind of run out of steam after there isn't unresolved sexual tension in the air to milk, or throw in things like sex or lack of protagonist common sense to spice it up, but Mekakushi no Kuni does not, and it's for the better.
That said, it's not really for anyone, anytime. I only recommend it if you're kind of in the mood for a very slow and sweet story.
I would personally say that it's fairly realistic as far as characters go. Most kids in highschool are good, ordinary kids. They want to do well, they want to live out their lives, and they don't usually want to save the world (at least I never did.) If you'd describe a good manga as realistic, I'd say it conveys the bland and happy sweetness of ordinary life pretty well.

Maybe it's just me & I have nothing to do on sunday afternoons but it's like that kind of manga that you just relax and read.
It may get kind of boring and personally the repeating messages were annoying and seemed like a waste of pages but other then that it's not so bad. And for people who are just starting to read manga and want something short and sweet, this isn't too bad

Mekakushi no Kuni is, in my opinion, the masterpiece of Tsukuba Sakura. It manages to be inspiring and heartwarming and real despite its ESP premise. The characters are moving and experience tragedy and growth, inviting a non-superficial experience for the reader. This manga is one of the few that I can re-read time and time again, and I do--every couple of years since I was 13. It just doesn't get old. It is utterly sweet, utterly heartbreaking, and utterly perfect.

I love the romantic fantasies, and this is definitely one of the better ones. Occasionally a little slow at first, but it makes up for it by carefully developing the characters and plot in a realistic and interesting way. The romance is sweet but not contrived, sincere and pure without being ridiculous, and it occasionally makes you want to really cry for the characters-but doesn't hit you in the face with overly tragic past after tragic past. And while the main characters have powers, they choose to use and develop them in their own ways, much the way real people would use them or choose not to use them. They don't all have hero complexes and try to save the world; they do the best they can with their own lives and problems, and sometimes we the readers are rewarded with a bit of suspense and a surprising twist or two in the use of the power. Toward the ending it really had me eagerly turning pages, and while I wish there was more after the climax, I was satisfied enough I didn't feel like storming the author's house and giving her an earful in English, like I would like to do with some series authors. The art is also very beautiful and there is a delicate sense of detail in the character's faces and hands.
One of the best shoujos

One of the best shoujos out there. It doesn't rely on whiny girls and overly manly guys, instead treats the relationships between all characters in a gentle and honest way, exagerating nothing, and using the whole supernatural powers thing in a way that is not annoying or even overpowering, because, okay, they are a big part of the story, but even taking them away, the characters are still who they are, even if, yes, their personalities were molded from their powers, but even so, they aren't that important in the end. The real proof is that a lot of the times, they aren't even mentioned, and you can forget about them, there they remind us, nudging us gently, nothing much. It's a great shoujo, short and to the point, with beautiful and no-fuss artwork, and I can't wait for it to get to my country. n_n

arou and kanade just make my heart skip a beat I love this series, and I reread it too. The art is adorable and gorgeous. I just can't help but love TSUBAKA SAKURA's art work.
This series just makes a smile appear, and i would recommend anyone to read it unless you're a smut fan, haha sorry theres nothing like that in here...
It's a very innocent manga and you really feel for the characters. Give it a chance! I'm sure you'll grow to love it

Actually I really like this manga. It was what I would call "refreshing." I really miss very innocent love stories that don't involve sex or any carnal feeling (for the most part) but just focus on the purity of love.
The mangaka has a good handle with the concept of seeing in the past/future. The circumstances is actually realistic and it seems like this could happen in this world right now. On other words, I could totally see a character with Arou's personality because he can see so far in the past. It wasnt dumb, it was cheesy, but it was realistic.
When reading this manga, I highly suggest trying to picture the characters as real people who are going through this, as this will make the manga much more deep.
This was a sweet, great manga, read this if you want to read somehthing refreshing.
