Description
Shinichi Kudo is a high-school student who, by using observation and deduction, is good at solving mysteries. While investigating one, he is caught by the criminals that he was watching and forced to take an experimental drug. Leaving him for dead, the criminals disappear. Instead of killing him, however, the drug turns Shinichi into a little kid.
To preserve the illusion of his 'disappearance,' Shinichi adopts a new name based on his favorite author (Arthur Conan Doyle) and becomes Conan Edogawa. Ran, his (actually Shinichi's) childhood friend takes this little boy under her wing and bring... More...

Conan now lives at a detective agency run by Ran's father, but his mind is as keen as ever and he continues to solve mysteries... always allowing Ran's father to take all the credit.
As far as everyone's concerned, Conan is just a little kid anyway... even to Ran. This is *extremely* frustrating to Conan since nobody will listen to a 'little boy.' Despite this, Conan has a mission... to find the criminals who did this to him and get the antidote to that drug.

I would like to discover the truth about Ran conan.
The author parted a bit of history. I would like to get involved more.
Couple ShinichixRan course lifetime. forever.

Now that it's been many years since the start of Detective Conan, there have been many many many different animes and mangas coming out... And everytime I watch 1 episode of Death Note/Naruto/TTGL/Another/Mirai Nikki etc etc... I go back to watch 2 episodes of Detective Conan.. Because it is different. The "hyping" in most animes these days is just inhuman, however I do read alot of books so the younger audience might find Detective Conan somewhat boring,
I used to love Death Note but now... It's like Scooby Doo compared to DC.

i really love it. I have read it, and I even watch the anime ver up until to now.
Of course like many other comments here, im also wondering when and how will this end.
but I believe that this is also one of the attracting points of this manga.
And besides, as much as I wud love to know the ending it also scares me.
The thought of a good manga/anime coming to an end, its scary.
so i'll just go with aoyama's flow and continue to watch and read detective conan.

I'm astonished that a manga could ever be this long and even more when I look at the complete collection of more than 70 volumes in my room. Even if I think it's boring solving murder cases where there are ALWAYS EXACTLY 3 suspects, I keep buying every volume once it's on sale and keep reading it, in hope that there could be some alternation like a Kaitou Kid case or some longer arc that is more than only four chapters. It has the advantage that you can read in the middle of such an arc and still can understand what's going on.
Despite this manga being repetitive, Aoyama brings always some romance, humour and action in his work. My wish is for him to finally draw the ending (since he knows how to end it) and to continue drawing Magic Kaitou, which isn't complete and only has four volumes. My advise for beginners is not to read each volume one after another, but to go mishmash (naturally beginning with the first volume).

I think this manga has gone on long enough, a lot of people do (as I can see by reading the comments) but I do have a theory why the poor author won't be ending this one very soon.
Like most of the manga dominating the scene (Pokemon, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, too many to continue...) this one has been going on for YEARS. 10+ really. They've run for so long that stopping them would be like halting a moving train with your bare hands. It's difficult to end gracefully. (And no matter how much no one wants to admit it and barks about how it should end, ending it badly would only make us bark louder.)
Also, the manga industry -actually, the paper-based book industry as a whole- is going under. Nowadays, the future of manga relies almost solely on the backs of the big-boys (as I have dubbed them). It must be stressful and at times fairly boring to be writing the same story week after week for years on end. A good chunk of their lives has gone into this. Really, how many of us could keep people reading for over 10 years?
(Oh, and congrats to Tite Kubo for finally ending Bleach. Hope you go on to write other series but I really think you need a break >.< Take one.)
Anyway...back to my point (did I even have one besides ranting? >.>) Be kind to Aoyama-sensei. He's been writing this for almost 2 decades and that's worth a lot of credit. It'll end at some point, so we might as well go along for the ride

I only saw a few episodes and I thought that they were, to put it mildly, childish. What intrigues me about this series is that during these 800 chapters Conan didn't hit puberty again, I mean a case takes a few days to solve, and there must be some time between the cases, so even though he became a child again he should grow.

Before fans of this manga counter me I would like to say, "I read it, I liked it but the story's stagnated" 800 Chapters and we are no closer to the end than we were at chapter 100. That's a major turn off. A great story is one which (sadly) comes to an end or at least has an ending. Does Detective Conan have an ending?(NO) Does it appear that there is a possible ending in the future? (NO) Does it appear repetitive? (yes for the past 500 chapters). Is it starting to get lame? (No, it was lame for the past 500 chapters, starting would be an understatement).
Btw, the detective logic in this manga is so horribly flawed. (sigh)

this manga used to be my favorite manga years ago. but now, even I still read it and I think it still a good manga, I cant place it in my top list manga anymore. it just too much, too long for it running. because there's so little progress on him to find out who the hell black organisation. When will this manga end, and conan back to his true form? it has been over 15 years..... and i'm tired to wait.
