a really great story collection

I bought this one because I like the mangaka's other work. I wasn't disappointed. Her art as usual is soft and simple, but very expressive. The description is only for the first story. I enjoyed the first story, as it was one of the best ones. My Eternal Sweetheart, with the androids was great too. Fairyland certainly wasn't like what the name suggested. It was like a Twilight Zone or Darkside episode. It was probably the best story in this collection for that emotional punch in the gut. There was one story with no BL content at all, but it was short and to the point. Like a previous poster said. don't let it keep you from trying this collection. This collection is a good read, and definitely more realistic in some ways as others have mentioned. It's definitely not hardcore stuff if that's what you are looking for, but it is still worth reading even if that is what you are mainly into.

Very Enjoyable

It was very refreshing to read something classified as yaoi (although it's more a collection of stories) that had so much a feeling of "reality". Especially other 4 stories were very bittersweet.
I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking for some substance, rather than smut. (though I must warn to any hard-core-yaoi-readers that the 4th story is het, not gay, and has a tiiiny bit of het sex, about the absolute minimum. let this please not scare you! )

Literary and Illustrative Genius: She's worthy to the genre-changing Year 24 group in my mind!

Can this woman weave a story of powerful, emotional impact or what?! Gods, but she is brilliant in her understated dialogue and simple facial features that express so much. She utilizes the panel space like no other sequential artist I've experienced before.
Check out NISHI Keiko's Love Songs, if you like YOSHINAGA Fumi's anthologies.
The stories often didn't go the way I wanted them to go, and they often left me wanting more 'punch,' but by being more realistic to everyday life, they made me think, leaving me with a bittersweet, motivated feeling.

The previous reviewer did a great job summarizing the individual chapters. IF you want to experience a quiet book, that has sleeper impact, this is the one! I think this is one of her best collections of short stories. (I couldn't stop thinking about the stories and what they taught me about seizing the moment and appreciating love and life and every little thing that comes your way.)

A collection of stories

It was quite good.
It left me with a feeling of "reality" and how everything doesn't end up the way you want them to.

It wasn't like any typical manga, with mutual loves and a bunch of "I love you"s & cute moments. It has a very mature and "that's life" feel to it. (get what I mean?) It was filled with bitter ends and regret. (First main story was the one with the least amount of bitterness, the rest are a little heavy with them.)

Anyways, there is one (non-yaoi) chapter that definitely strikes the josei mark. It left a bitter, but not sad feeling at the end. It's more of an exhaling-sigh moment. (hah..) :\

I just wanted to voice my thought on how "real" this manga was. (You know what I mean, I'm not talking about the androids here!)

Summaries for the other stories:
(Bear with me here! cheesy summaries.)
story 2 - My Eternal Sweetheart
Sir Arthur, a teenager, has immune deficiency syndrome. He can never leave his house because of all the bacteria outside, thus he feels eternally bored. So to satiate his boredom, he asks his brother to make him some sexdroids to have fun. But, his restless boredom still remains...

story 3 - Fairyland
"Because humans had become so foolish and indecent, God punished them by erasing them from the Earth."
It's been a month, and there was no sight of humans except for himself. Sawada Ryohei thought he was the only one left, until he spotted a bespectacled boy. And it turns out that, this fairytale wasn't a good one.

story 4 - One May Day (Josei)
A professor went to a restaurant one day, and it wasn't that good. But the little things about the owner(?) Sachiko, like her pretty forehead, made him a regular there. Little things can change everything.

story 5
A young, beautiful, talented pianist. That's what he was.
No longer is he young; No longer does he have men in lines just waiting to embrace him. Because he indulged in his one-time fame, he neglected everything else and now has become any regular bearded Joe.
Now in his 40s, he just wants his strike in love! But does he still have it?
