Homosexuals are evil and have no morals (?)

I started reading this series because I read a review saying that it was the most amazing thing she was ever read and even if it started pretty bad it was awesome in the end.

So I read it up to chapter 8 at first and I was like:... this thing suck so much it hurts, now I've finished it and I can say that, well the art isn't that bad for being a 90's series, and the two last chapters were the normal bl hightschool story, and they were ok, but the other 20..., gosh, it's like every prejudice about homosexual is right, they are evil and have no morals.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It's disgusting indeed how the friend of the older brother (Saita?) nailed the protagonist Masaki under the excuse "I love your brother" he said they started when he was in 7th year... that it's like 13 years old isn't it?, when you like BL you usually say :"society portraits gay people like evil human beings, they aren't like that!" but in this manga, they are degenerated, promiscuous and child molesters, because a kid of 13 having sex with someone over 18 is molesting, no matter what. And Saita not only have sex with Masaki, he also wants to have sex with Hiroya, and the worst thing is that they don't even hate him after that... like what?, but sure, Masaki hates (and would probably fight with him) the classmate who is a bit too friendly with Hiroya. The kid (Masaki) even thinks he got AIDS, at what, 16? you are doing things wrong with your life if you thing you have AIDS and you're barely 16.
Somehow Hiroya kinda saves Masaki from the disgrace he was going to become (and his older brother was kind of useless, he didn't even got mad with his friend for 'abusing of the naivety' of his brother. Probably this kind of story would have been better with older people.

Well, I wanted to end the series only to make a comment of the series, really, there are many comments saying how lovely this series is and it really isn't, you should be prepared for some sort of crude BL.

Omg it's so good that I'm squealing right now.

At first, it was lame. I kinda hated the characters. The idea of a honor student trying to change by changing his image was pretty interesting. But as I read on, I was like, "-___- I wanna smack you both." However, I continued reading and I was simply amazed. The honor student got a backbone and Masaki, the "idiot," had stop fooling around. As the story continues, their relationship developed as they overcome obstacles. There are real life talking, like the fear of telling someone about their relationship and the fear of society looking down on them. Pretty obvious who's uke and who's seme. However, Fujimoto (the honor student) is so darn sweet and pure (that I wanna hug him).

The pacing of the story was good. It wasn't rushed nor slow. Seven volumes is just right and I'm glad it wasn't dragged on. I do wished there were more minor character development, like their side stories. It would had been more interesting.

The art improves overtime, so don't let the beginning art makes you stop reading. Like most mangaka, their drawing improves as the story gets better.

Unexpected :P

I first started reading this last year but lost interest during chapter 3 - i found myself disliking the characters and the story seemed a bit slow paced. That said, at the time i was into alot of action manga and anime, so perhaps i was influenced. I came back to this yesterday after browsing and decided to give it another shot, i kept reading this time and found my opinion changing rapidly. The characters start out completely different to how they end up, and the progressive change in their personalities is good - so where i originally very much disliked Masaki i soon found him to be charming, and where i found Hiroya to be a weak little book worm, he too changed and gained some strength. It was nice to watch them progress at a gradual pace, its a very relaxing pace, but the surrounding story keeps you interested despite that. There is not much in the way of high drama or big revelations in this story which may deter some, but it has other aspects - such as homophobia, health worries and general relationship troubles to keep it interesting for the reader. When things to finally progress to a definite stage its enjoyable, because the suspense is left to build for so very long before reaching that conclusion. Towards the end i was hoping for something more climactic or certain but it ended on a very gentle open note - in a way that suggests the mangaka could very easily have written a continuation with no issue. Its a real shame the mangaka is no longer alive, her works gradually got better and better and i can't help but feel its a shame that she couldn't have written more. All the same, with a manga like this one she will not soon be forgotten by me at least.

I thought with all the comments this would be different from other yaoi manga and not have lots of sex
Spoiler (highlight to view)
there is a creepy character called saita that is sleeping with one of the main boys (the more masculine one) and he keeps trying to rape the weaker girly one. i got really tired of seeing masaki sleep with the guy and the weak one almost getting raped. yeah not as great as everyone said. and if masaki can sleep with anyone why cant he let Hiroya sleep with whomever he wants. it was just a weird depressing manga.

Refreshing Yaoi

This is the first 'refreshing' yaoi I've read. It's more of an awakening to love than an awakening to sexuality, but the sensual parts are also great! The way the story is panned out more than makes up for whatever this manga is lacking in art (although I think it gets better as the chapters go). I loved it!

This was a wonderfully entertaining change from the yaoi that I am used to reading.

When I started reading this I had really high expectations especially after reading the summary intro, but after the first few pages I started thinking ‘Aw man! This is one of those yaoi that have a really mean Seme and an overeager, crybaby, no confidence Uke that I hate so much… ’ Well I have to say it completely blew me over after those first few pages. I was completed mistaken about my worry of the cliché uke and seme. I began to realize that this was nothing like all the other yaoi/shonen ai manga I had ever read. It was so realistically put together and so entertaining all the way through, that I stayed up all night to read it coz I couldn’t stop myself. YEAH it was that interesting. I loved how the characters had distinctive personalities and features (which is something that’s rather hard to come by in this genre of manga) and how their story was not just some romanticized gay love, but instead a realistic presentation of what might actually happen in such a relationship real life. I have to say, even though the art wasn’t my best (it got better as the story progressed by the way) I was hooked to the story so much that I ended up falling in love with their old-fashioned 70’s style and art.
I am so in love with this manga, I don't know if I should shelve it up on the same level as my all time favorites “Crimson spell” and the “ViewFinder” series by Ayano Yamane by the fact that they both have really well developed characters and an entertaining story to boot. Ah I’m in love!

this series was definately very cute. i picked it up cuz i love this sensei's work. <3 her drawings kinda have a soft spot in my heart too. lol. but there are a few things that i didn't really like abt this series. what happened to kanae and chisato?! plus for those who have read this don't you find it strange kanae dsoesn't have hiv...just throwing it out there. lol. what made me gave this series a 10 was because i was shocked that vol 7 was the last one. i was like 'WHAT?!? its over??' i want more!! >.< thats how good it is lol.lol..lololololol...............haha~ but i still don't like the begining...it was a weird intro. heh...

oooooh I love this. the boys annoyed me sometimes, not just the uke, but you know what, everyone's annoying once in a while and some people are annoying more times than not so... this was very realistic, imo. also, DON'T LET THE ART IN THE FIRST VOLUME SCARE YOU. It's the first time I read a manga in which the art goes from kinda crappy to something really nice to look at! I give it a 10 for the plot that hooked me until the end.

Hiroya was really annoying. I mean come on man, why playing so hard to get? weren't you the one who were chasing after Misaki all the time? now he says he loves you, why suddenly acting like a little girl in panic?? geez...

seriously, this manga shows how much a girly, whiny uke can be irritating. although Hiroki had his powerful moments as well but I think those were being faded by the scenes where he was acting totally like a girl, always crying, sobbing, clinging to other males around him... oh god..*rolls eyes*

over all it is a decent story but if it wasn't for watching Misaki's sweet love feelings, I wouldn't continue reading it. the art is sweet but story will get on your nerves if you really looking for some thing valuable or interesting in it. my advice: just sit back, take it easy and enjoy the story in pace of mind but NEVER take it seriously.
