Kui's first tankoubon. First four chapters are focused on twisting Hero vs Demon King cliche and make readers to walk in bystander's shoes with realistic perspective. I like them but those realisms are somehow shallow. In last three chapters she adapt fantasy with everyday life. Here's the problem (Including Kui's other modern fantasy(?) stories). Even fantasies are considered normal in those spaces, people still treat them as strange and exotic thing... like dog meat or rare disease. and through these adaptation she tries to carry some message and make readers to contemplate about social contradiction. but if they are STILL strange and exotic, there's no reason to fetch fantasy in. 進学天使 is perfect case of it... but these flaws are important only when we confine the perspective to social criticism. they are still good works and 現代神話 has very witty stories. I love this book.
