As I said in the title, just ignore the comments that gave this manhwa a low rating by saying that the MC is a murder machine.

The ENTIRE point of the manhwa is that the MC IS a OP, brilliant psychopath and most of the time doesn't even try to hide it. If you want an idealistic vanilla murim manhwa with a cupcake MC who cannot stand injustice and who wants to save the world, then look elsewhere.

On the other hand if you want good art and plot, blood and gore, ghosts and cultivation, and a pretty as hell, OP, smiling psychopath on his quest for revenge, then this is the right gem for you.

Interesting and enjoyable series

MC is interesting. He isn't "evil" that pretends to be "good" even to himself, or someone that is cruel in order to be superior. He doesn't attempt to justify himself.

The series is also not gruesome, neither the MC or the art revel in blood and pain.

It is just his nature to be evil. Like we enjoy green fields, he enjoys being surrounded by dead bodies. His grandfather raised him to not give in to this nature and for about 17 years it worked, as far as we know.

They lived together on a remote mountain, peacefully. Then, someone came and murdered his grandfather. This started him on a journey of revenge. He was propelled into the murderous world of Murim, but he is more murderous than anyone.

MC is completely merciless, if someone is even partially an enemy, he would kill him if he deems it beneficial. However, MC is not cruel, he doesn't really enjoy the suffering of people as much as just killing them.

He doesn't abuse people. If someone treats him well, he will reciprocate. He would never rape anyone. He won't betray you or feel jealous. He won't kill children for no reason, won't even take their candy.

In any case, he is an interesting to read MC because he is unexpected. He doesn't think normally.

I think the FMC likely also has an interesting past. Fun to read in general.

Terrible characters, unsatisfying kills

MC is an unlikable, murdering, dickhead that just wins in life because the plot wants it. Everyone around him gets a sudden, and deadly case of the "Stupid" whenever he wants to do something.
Psychopathic or murderous main characters can be some of the best in writing, but you have to challenge them, with equal opponents, or at least have them do interesting and fun kills if they're overpowered, but anything that had potential turned out to be a dud.
Even the day-to-day simple stuff happening in this series seem devoid of logic.

Finally a based Manhwa. Read too many mangas and a lot of the main characters are either losers or wimps, outcasts in society. This one tho is different. He is fearless, confident, and he kills without giving a fck. Sure people call him psychopath but so what? Its fiction bro. Villains >>>> Heroes
If you are looking for a cool Male lead then this is a must read

I mean, what to say, i like overpowered characters.

Oh, the mc is the typical chinese mc.
But you can see some korean flare to it.

I mean, he isn't outright merciless.
He has reason to eliminate them, though.

Don't expect it to be, just enjoy the typical power fantasy in a world where everyone is a psychopath

What the heck is wrong with Korean manhwakas lately? There are simply too many psychopathic MC's, as if being cruel and crazy for no reason was something cool to be admired... one thing is to enjoy reading of an anti-hero, another is to dig into this kind of crap. And before anyone says something like "he gets better after 150 chapters" or some BS like that, I couldn't fking care less, this belongs to the trashcan along all of this recent manhwas that relish in having this kind of sick character.

Want to read a good story with a socipath as an MC? go read "Gwanjeon - Lee Kang-jin", unlike this one the MC fights against his urges. Of course, if what you want isn't a mature take on such things but childish pointless bloodbathes then read this kind of trash.

Well another murderhobo MC

I guess this one at least isn't "righteous", but as others said, he's pointlessly cruel. I read and liked "reverend insanity" so I've had my fill of well-written villains in this setting. This MC kills people as a plot device, so it ends up being out of character and arbitrary; in the latest chapter 19, they've explicitly stated it so. If he'd not been a mass murderer, the plot would be smoother, since being cold, calculating, and constantly giving in to his impulses are contradictory traits, so he'd be better off without one of them.

The plot itself is great, with everyone backstabbing each other and actually having their own plans and traits, but in that cutthroat environment, all the killing in the first 20 chapters has been done by the MC or been directed towards him (though the real bad point of the series is the ass-pull ways he evades death; his controlling and evil spirit from the start without any explanations or having a top-tier body makes the story less interesting).

another reviewer said it best - there are no likeable characters in this story, maybe the Azure ghost will have decent story arc, but doubtful

just another overpowered MC that effortlessly gets everything he wants, and is needlessly cruel... wanting revenge isn't justification for mass murder of innocents
