I tried it. I really tried, but ...

HWANG Mi-Ri just won't work for me. It's hard to understand the popularity of this Manhwa brand, if you just look at the surreal storylines and the weird characters, which just seem to come off in a similar way again and again. Anyways, I tried it and so let's look at this one a little closer:

The drawing style is okay. Nothing special and nothing out of the ordinary, but still showing lots of room for improvements. In my case I just don't like those hairstyles, weird facial expressions and ... flowers here and there and everywhere around a handsome chracters. Kkk. Sorry, back to topic - It's an acceptable style, decent and nothing to put you off from a decent storyline. But ...

The storyline and characters just match the style. But - It's a comedic storyline and it has it's funny moments, even making up some weird developments with it. So all in all, out of a few other works by this pseudonym, this one was the most likeable in my eyes. I have been reading it till the end and for that alone it's a surprise, basically implicated by the comedic parts & the ordinary jokes being rather well included.

I liked it because of the dishonesty going on and like Hot Blooded Woman this seemed to require a peeling of layers. It's more of a comedy than a romance by far. The male lead is also crude. There's a lot things I actually wanted revealed. Too much was left hanging.

HOW CAN ANYONE BE SO DUMB??!!!! This girl is the slowest person on the face of the earth. Then there's Yoo Min, first runner-up for world's biggest lunatic (you'll know who won when you read it), and was possibly dropped on his head a child (probably by his grandma who is a great source of BS).

The characters are incredibly refreshing. I wouldn't say they were deep and complex exactly, but that's not really where this was going. I think there's a great mix of comedy, romance and that slightly uneasy atmosphere (I mean the guys in this did beat up girls quite a bit).

I loved reading this so much. All in all it's a great, lighthearted story with side-spitting humor.

Don't go into this looking for anything but comedy. It's kind of cute, but the characters are shallow, the main guy is violent, and the main girl is dumb.

If you can get past that and just coast along and pretend not to notice, it's hilarious. Fortunately, they're on the likable side of violent and dumb, so I find it pretty easy for the most part. The mental thoughts of the side characters just crack me up; especially in V5, where Han-Ah

finally wises up.

It's kind of like humour created by putting intelligent people next to idiots and listening to the "well... duh, you dumbass" comments made by the smart ones.

That said, though, it's rather different from Hwang Mi Ri's usual... not that that's surprising. Her stories are usually kind of touch and go, but she makes so many of them, at least a few have to be good, right?

I kept reading because I though the misunderstandings would be cleared and everything would get better. And though it wasn't that bad, I kept getting even more irritated at the main characters. I mean Lee Han-Ah is soo STUPID!! I find it so hard to believe that she could be so dense. God! it cannot possibly be so hard to say what you really think, even if you are scared.

Besides that the art was amazing and i did like the story, though the development was really slow and the characters were kind of shallow. But if you have nothing but time, go ahead and give it a try.

Take it at face-value

I'm surprisingly hard to please - I rant endlessly about the stupid shoujo cliches and how I cringe reading each and every single one of them. Why? Because they take themselves too seriously. They were written as if they were the first to come up with that kind of story line and it's supposed to make us swoon, or something like that.

Cutie boy is a manhwa that should be taken at face value. Even though there's some weird crap going on at the end, it is first and foremost a comedy. And only one other manga has made me laugh out loud so many times (that being Angel Densetsu), so I'm very pleased with this.

The story is about a girl who got bullied by this mean guy in her 2nd grade, he made life hell for her. Well, she somehow manages to meet him again 7 years later, and not recognize him, but she falls in love with his pretty face at first sight and asks him out. The bully? He blushes all cutely and agrees, and that's where most of the misunderstandings will come from.

Characters with actual deep personalities? You won't find them here. You read Cutie Boy for comedy, and nothing less. You'll feel a lot happier that way than to judge it by a standard which it can never achieve, and doesn't attempt to.

Cutie Boy made me laugh out loud several times, so it gets an 8 from me, great comedy.

The description sounded soo good but then I read it and . . .I couldn't get past the first two chapters nd I'm being serious usually with manga the chapters usually go quick but this it felt so long I can't explain it , it was such a big struggle to read that yet alone continue , seriously the worst manga I have ever read , and trust me I'm pleased quit easily I mean during the short time I had I had already picked up that the guy was a spoilt selfish retard and the girl was a cardboard box that did nothing but bark like a dog , I knoe ppl including me usually ignore the occasional random bad comment but I'm being serious don't waste ur time I'm actually srry for the idiots that actually like this I'm actually shocked because i had a choice out of 3 manga and this mangas plot seemed the most interesting but it turned out to be the worst and the manga that seemed the least turned out to he the best this manga is all talk but no substance.

One of the better manhwa's by hwangmiri for sure.
Its hilarious and cute, although the characters, like most of her stories are lacking as in their personalities and development are stale/flat. But i saw this more as a comedy than a romance anyways. Its one of those manga's where the characters are unrealistically stupidly funny.
Good time killer.

Without doubt, this is my favorite of Hwang Mi Ri's works by a loooooooooong way. I sometimes forget and think it's by someone else entirely, because the characters and plot are so different from titles like Hot Blooded Woman or Red Lion. Anyway, the characters in this are adorable, especially towards the end when most of the misunderstandings have been cleared up and we get to see how everyone's real characters are like (and what the real pecking order is). So read it for the fun and the humor, even if shoujoesque plots with love triangles and whatnot give you a headache. It'll pass.
