As I write this review, I am about halfway through volume one. As a big fan of another of this author's works, "Good Witch of the West", I decided to give this book a read even though ancient Japanese settings aren't usually my go to for fiction. I was surprised to see how similar the plot of this book is to the premise of Good Witch of the West - the only major difference seems be Good Witch is European ambient while this book is Japanese ambient. However, seeing that this book series was written first, when comparing it to Good Witch, Tales of the Magatama seems far less polished and intriguing than Good Witch, with far less endearing characters.
I plan to finish this first book, but I'm not sure I'll bother reading the second. Honestly I'd recommend Good Witch over this any day. It's literally the same story with a different setting and told better.

This is a WONDERFUL book. I am so happy to see it re-released in English. I hope VIZ decides to release the other two books in the series.
