I really like this series, to the point where I had to read RAWs since I couldn't wait for the English scans. It takes a bit longer reading the RAW, but it was worth it. The art is great, story is pretty good and the characters are all pretty cool and lovable in their own way. I also never thought Hibiki would become my favourite character in this series when she first appeared in chapter 1 of S2, but I think she was partially the reason why I started reading the RAW. The series stayed pretty interesting until the end with its plot twists. The ending wasn't great, but it was a good way to wrap things up, and at least it left me with a feeling of content.
For the Hibiki fans out there, read this if you can't wait and want to know what happens in the end:

Hibiki lives! And is darn pretty in a wedding dress.

Really, the first series was kinda horrible for the first 7 or so volumes (the 'good guys' were simply too stupid). Then it became good. The second series started off even better, and steadily improved, though there were a few dips, a rushed romance and couple of moments of suspension of disbelief (more than usual).
This closing series started fantastic. Really interesting. Really, the synopsis of this third series is the reason I started reading the first (that and the fact that eventually most of it was in my local library >.> and it had great art --> Negaigoto 300000 km/s).
There was only a couple of moments that were too predictable (apart from the all the 'obviously this character will survive' moments of false-tension)
It's a shame that this is the shortest of the seasons, considering it's the best and had the best villains. Introducing that one at the end was mostly unexpected (mostly because I didn't think that person would be a villain but I knew that plot line needed to be wrapped up). But the season didn't feel like it was cut short or anything, the length suited the plot. I'm a little disappointed by the ending. And that once again
I am a little worried that there seems to be some continuity problems with the first series' plot. How was that supposed to help the 'Storyteller's' goals? And there's an issue with Simon's children.
Is it worth reading the first season to get to this one?
That's the question. Perhaps not. Perhaps simply when you have a lot of spare time...

the good guys don't die. At all, this time. At least in the previous one the father died
