Normally if the heroine annoys me, but the story is good I manage to continue/like the manga. Usagi is a true exception, I have never been more irritated by a shoujo protagonist before. I didn't find her to possess any sort of charm at all. Her being a clutz and spaz annoyed me. I could only take two volumes before I felt like taking ibuprofen.

The male lead was a typical shoujo prince.

Only reccomended if you can handle stupid protagonists.

i realy like the manga... i have only read up till the 4th volume beacuse that is all that is out in scans (atleast where i am getting the scans from) i realy like how he comes aroud to usagi..(is that how you spell it?) and i cant wait for more of the story. the chracters are cute too

As a response to the people saying that Usagi doesn't change, toughen up OR mature; then you didn't read far enough.

I agree that she starts out a completely stupid and irritating child, but that just makes the personal growth more appreciated. Even though Usagi is completely worthless throughout 2/3 of the manga, her growth finally begins in volume 12. For me, it was worth chopping through the first 11 volumes (though they were tiring at times), because I absolutely LOVED Usagi in the last 4 volumes.

love it ! especially blushing hanzo!

I actually finished reading this a few weeks ago, after having put it on hold for a year. At first I was only reading it because I was experimenting with historically based mangas (I still haven't grown into them --"), but grew on me after a few chapters.

Usagi is annoying. I won't deny that. Annoying as HECK. But she's one of those annoying characters that you have to like. Kind of like Light, in Death Note (not at all. I love to hate him, and hate to love him). She doesn't mature much emotionally, over the series, but I think she does grow up a little after

Hanzo (the main guy, not the playboy) was brilliant. But sometimes he was so stubborn I was just screaming at my netbook; " HANZOO YOU IIDIIOOOOOOOTTT!!".
And I loved his long hair <3

I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an interesting plot and good looking guys. If you want a loveable female protagonist, or a smart one at that, look elsewhere.

i so totally love this manga!!! at first i thought that it would be one of those totally sucky mangas where the girl is so stupid and the all the guys come s running to save her... but its wasn't!!! i kind of reminds me of saiunkoku monogatari for some reason... i really love everything about it, including the ninja stuff!!!

All i can say is KYAAAAAA -

omigosh!!! i read chaps 36- end in 2 days!!! and beat that im a busy person!!! i really love how it all came down...<still cant type well because of the happiness> the character amazing is so wonderful!!! i really love it!!! how the story proceeded...the depth of it all!!! this is why i love historical <btw i got the highest soc. studies grade in the whole school prob coz of this...fufufufu..>

i dont know why everytime i want to say something about this managa...it always leaves me speechless..<or typeless> i loved it really!! everything about it!! the romance may get a little bit problematic at times...their life being a bit dramatic at times..the characters being a bit stubborn at times...but i guess that makes a great story...YAY CONFLICT!!!

but i have to comment on the guys that could've ended up with usagi...

1.Goemon
actually i like him he was the supporter kind of character...but then i guess we already have mamezou for that...so basically his the third wheel..but even though his the 3rd party i dont hate him..coz hes got that likable air around him not to mention the ultimate loyalty and love and protection..the sweetest thing that he did was to reject her because of his leg thinking that he is unworthy or something...which brings us to no.2!!!

2. Hanzo...
he was such a difficult person at the start...and even though he actually liked her...he still decided that she still has to get her qualifications to marry him...talk about strictness!!i must admit that i kind of hated him...god he already loves girl what is taking them so long just get with the happy ending!!! but that was actually what bring out the best in the story all the trials and challenges the usagi must faces and the companions he must face along the way to help her mature..which brings us to no.3!!!

3. Yuki
i really loved this guy!! he was so cute...actually i also thought that she i mean he was a girl...i mean perhaps Rin-sensei actually made her i mean him that feeling while drawing her i mean him... even though he liked usagi very much she just let her go because he truly loves her...truly way down deep...and wants her to be happy and doesnt want to push himself on her....which is the complete opposite of no.4

4.Ranmaru~
even though he was a bad guy...i love him!!! yeah i really do!! he makes my stomach go weird...hes kindda bittersweet...everytime he blushes it was soooo cute!!! i know it was pretty cliche for the antagonist to fall for the protagonist but it would be nice if... <what am i thinking its already so nice!!!> but i really love him hes so sweet!!! the thing he does for usagi while shes in the cell was kindda...ya know~..and the way he made her stop...whoow that something for i guy to say <based on biology and psychology> but thing that i love most about him is the thing that he did in the end for usagi...it totally made up for all the attempted rape he made!!well I could understand that afterall he loves her and their enemies..he doesn’t know what to do!!! it "almost" made me cry...wheew he really is something.. if only... *SFX" self-smack* hey me that hurt!!!

well then about usagi...well i dont kindda got annoyed at her...even though shes whiny and a total glutton...thats because she does something to actually help and not make matters worse for everybody and when the moment comes to save her come it turns out she already saved herself!! shes always crying but shes strong and the development in the near end was the greatest!!!

its official anybody who reads manga should read this!!! you havent lived you manga reading life you havent read this yet or not going to!!!

Tsuki no shippo is a good manga. Its a good read. the story started as as ur typical shoujo and later on showed quite a character development. the Usagi(main lead) was not likeable at first, her character development made her more likeable than at first. yet, i cant say she's my favorite heroine of all. The art is good and clean.

On the negative side it suffers from the "harem syndrome" as i call it where many male characters fall in love with Usagi. a bit irritating to me. Also, there were parts where the author could have explored it more. She lead up to it, but dint flesh it out enuf. otherwise, those issues would have helped the manga more.

that being said, its a good read. i rate it as 8.

I just can't stand her. I have to agree with slykid. (I'm surprised I even managed to make it this far) At first, I didn't mind that she was a good-for-nothing crybaby who lazes around, because I was expecting her to become more mature and toughen up as the time goes by but she's stays the same!! Sure, she's good at healing, but shouldn't she be more responsible? She causes so much trouble for others, yet she doesn't change for the better.

The art is better than I expected. There's bishies, comedy and possible plot, but the lack of character development in the series is a major turn off for me.
