On point characterization

It's Sakuragi sensei forte in general, but in this story the characters are all so perfectly portrayed without excessive traits, they become someone who could be your neighbour, a friend, a relative, etc. They are credible and relatable and that the strength of the story.
Storytelling wise, Sakuragi sensei manage effortlessly to write a story without an ounce of drama, yet a page turner.

I CANT BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS PUBLISED IN 2011 WHEREAS CALORIE IS PUBLISHED IN 2002!!!! Plot-wise, it's very believable (since it improved) BUT THE ART OMG. HIMEGOTO'S ART IS SOOOO EARLY 2000s (or even around 90's) WHILE CALORIE LOOKS LIKE IT'S FROM THE EARLY 2010'S OMG I JUST CANT BELIEVE IT JSJDKJS THE PLOT OF HA, THE ART, EVERYTHINGG IS PERFECT I JUST CANT

One of the best

This is a love story with believable personalities; humorous, charming, and warm. The kid behaves like a kid, and there is no rape or totally ridiculous misunderstanding. There is great sexual chemistry between the two MCs. Tanihara is a little subversive and mischievous in a way that I've come across with real people, and the doctor doesn't fit an easy mold. Sakuragi Yaya's art is expressive and consistent in quality. Stands up to a second reading, which is rare. Really enjoyable.

It grew on me, but not a 10

I'll admit I didn't want to read this at first because the cover art looked a little weak. As I was reading the first couple chapters I thought "yeah I don't like this art, I don't understand the ratings, I'll prob give it a 5," but I continued to read and my opinion changed. The art never got better, but the story and the development of the characters did in a nice and surprising way. It is definitely worth a read (most single father yaoi's are), but is far from being a perfect 10 in my opinion, there is much better yaoi I would recommend first.

Hilarious, sweet, and charmingly realistic

Wow. This was really good.

I put off reading this for the past few years because the cover looked weird to me. And then recently, after reading my first Yaoi manga, I finally decided, "What the heck, I'll try this one out." And I'm SO HAPPY I read this. The characters drive this story--they're not the usual cliches, and I really fell in love with the humorous main guys.

The doctor and the sweet shop guy have surprising chemistry, so much so that I was red in the face just reading this. Nothing feels forced at all, and things move along at a really nice pace. This is a mature manga about two consenting, multi-faceted adults falling in love; there are no elements of the usual rapey seme and weak, cry-baby uke. Here, both sides are realistically unpredictable, and I LOVE it.

Although I wish both guys had chance to be seme, this is the first time I feel satsified with the Uke character. Both are independent and masculine, and both exhibit wholesome personalities. They feel fully human.

GAHHHHHH I REALLY REALLY LIKE THIS STORY DAMMIT. The main characters just have SO MUCH CHEMISTRY TOGETHER. They are hilarious, sexy, sweet, meaningful, and touchy ALL AT ONCE. I cannot handle this much wonderful goodness.

TEN OUT OF TEN. PERFECT. 100% !!!

I like the art, I LOVE that both characters are more like people than one-trait stereotypes, and the kid is even likable.

I didn't like some of the chapters scanlated by some groups - it got messy and slightly unintelligible with the translation. It seemed like the original author did a good job, but some of the pages weren't handled very well, which is a shame. Others did a great job.

I'd like to read more if it's translated. smile

Best work ever yet (not an overstatement)

Sakuragi Yaya's best work ever yet. I am really impressed and happy with regards to her improvement.

This is a breath of fresh air from the typical yaoi plot line and characters.

Gay Seme who is super Majime (solemn / serious) and isn't chasing and raping the Uke.
Straight Uke who's totally alright with sex and is to the point even flirting a little with the Seme.

Interesting characterization straight off the bat.

What really catches my attention is how the characters develop and you get to see more and more of their personality unfold as the story goes along. This perfect pacing and progression is rare in Yaoi. Yes really.

A must read if one is interested in good pacing and characterization.
Oh, and there's also funny (like real funny) moments in there, that got me to laugh out loud.

*Did I mention I purchased the Japanese Manga? That's how good it is!

Amazing manga!

I LOVE it!
I loved the "prequel" Yume Musubi, Koi Musubi and if you want to do it right, make sure to read that as well to get to know this manga's main character "Shuu-chan" a little bit better.
YMKM was great but oh man, it does not even come close to how good Himegoto Asobi is!
I loved Shuu in YMKM - he was a very fun and lovable side character and he definitely stirred up the desire to get to know him better as well!
Straight man, single father, incredibly easy going with a real sense of humor... he is an interesting character from head to toe!
In Himegoto Asobi, he meet the very stoic and stuck-up doctor Takafumi who always looks serious, speaks very politely and scared away all his little child patients.
The two of them are such a great couple! It seriously does not get much better than this!
If you are tired of the typical seme and uke stereotypes then READ THIS!
If you want a strong, manly, straight uke who goes and tries gay sex out of simple curiosity and loves it - READ THIS!
If you like semes who are polite, manly, honorable and caring, all while knowing what they want and not being pushovers, you should also read this!
And let's not forget all the sweet and great moments that come from Shuu-chan being originally straight and not wanting to fall in love easily, and him being a father who single-handily raises a little girl, and Takafumi having made only bad experiences with love...

This is a must read, and I don't understand how anyone would not like it!
It has great art, amazing characters, a great little plot, laugh-out-loud funny moments and heartache that you can actually feel while reading!
It has everything! READ IT!

A Little Loose

Oh this was hilarious. I keep recommending it to my friends who are REALLY tired of the same old ineffectual seme and wimpy uke. I love this manga to death and would love to see how it will play out.

You know the trope that all yaoi manga is rape? Yeah, it doesn't apply here. These are two sober consensual adults having sex. No dubious consent. No tears. A rarity in and of itself and that just makes me love it more.

The dialog is hilarious especially concerning Tanihara. His attempts to get a rise out of everyone makes me smile and sometimes outright giggle. The doctor is even better since he is such a straight man it comes off as deadpan snarker but usually he's just missing the joke.

The only gripe I have is the art. The noses make the faces too long and there isn't much range of expression for any of the characters. Furthermore, Tanihara's daughter doesn't look like a little girl, just an embodiment of a chibi. Not good. But I can forgive it for the plot and the great characterization.
