This is one of my favorite one-shots. It's short, sweet, and pretty effectively deals with a serious topic in a humorous but still poignant way. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone with a decent sense of humor (and a willingness to roll with the premise). Give it a fair shot!

Actually, this wasn't too bad for a one-shot. Yes, I know it borrowed the basic concept from a popular piece of literature; but that in and of itself doesn't make The Moneky's Foot a shallow rip-off. In fact, objects with the ability to raise the dead are a standard trope in many supernatural / horror stories.

The story is interesting for two reasons; one, it acknowledges the fact that you should let the dead lie in peace. And two, it deals with how even if the loved one does come back, you might realize that you'd actually lost them even before they died. I loved how the girl accepted her late boyfriend's

crush on her elder sister in a matter-of-fact fashion, without the usual "*Shriek!* You dirty b**tard and filthy wh**e! How dare you fall in love with each other behind my back?! I'm gonna kill you!" reaction.

Ignore the comments below mine. It's short and fairly profound considering the limited page count, so give it a go when you have the spare time.

The Monkey's Foot

This title intrigued me. "The Monkey's Paw" is a really great story, and I figured a manga based on it would be psychological and interesting. Not so with "The Monkey's Foot", unfortunately. It seems like the author read the story in a high school literature class, remembered "Hey, that had something about zombies in it, right?", and decided to use that as her plug. It isn't bad as a stand-alone - the art style is unique and the story is cute - but being as shallow as it is I think the author would have done better to think of some other way to raise a zombie.

By the way, it's spoilerage for "The Monkey's Paw". Just saying.

Interesting...

..to spend a day with a deceased zombie boyfriend and have the general public frighten by the looks of the couple. I believe she should have let him rest in peace and I don't think it was wise of her to wake him up from the dead. Then again, one would wish to be with the person she loves one more time before sending him back to heaven.

It's an okay story, I guess.
