Description
[From ShoujoMagic]:

Ichihashi Nanao is an incredibly bright girl and the first to ever transfer into Mehabia Catholic School. The one God here, though, is the "Judicature Club," a school-sanctioned means of resolving student disputes. Its president and judge is the first person Nanao meets--Hanegi Raika, a handsome boy who looks like a girl. This highly selective club wants Nanao as a member, but while she may be unwilling to judge others, she may have no choice when she herself is judged.

All is well~

At the end of the day, I felt overly confused with whether Nanao liked Leica or Katsuma, dang the short two-page finale, if only the author can just kill that part off, everything would be so clear and perfectly ended to me. Reading this in the beginning, I started to wonder if I'm reading a shoujo manga, cause dang it doesn't feel shoujo at all, there ain't no sparkly cliched moments, it felt downright unappealing with the law cases. However, coming to the middle and towards the end, I was getting used to all these high school drama in court, oh and thankfully romance kicked in a little. I loved the story after that, when it was zoomed in more in these five people's lives, aside from the fact that I still can't wrap my head around who Nanao really likes, I think overall the art and story was well developed. This manga is not bad, guys.

Mediocre

Having read almost all of Mizushiro's other scanlated works, I put this series off for a long time because the summary of it just didn't appeal to me. I finally completed the series today, but I think this possibly my least favorite of all her works. I don't really enjoy harems, and while this harem wasn't like a typicsl harem, I still feel that this work lacks a true emotional center. Yes, the members are all close friends and some of them even have traumatic back stories, but I'm missing out on my reason to care as the reader.

The subject matter is quite interesting(law in a school setting), but the emotional core of the story is lacking. I also feel that maybe a few more chapters spent with the characters might help that, but it's hard to say.

I would definitely recommend this author's later works(and possibly her older yaoi works) over this one if you're new to her work.

Different. Unique. Not cliched. These are the adjectives that goes into my mind that best describes this manga. At first I thought that it would be the usual reverse harem manga that all the guys will instantly fall head over heels for the girl. But it turned out to be something different. I love the aspect where they center around the "Judicature Club". Through their club everything progresses. So the title itself says it all. I loved the story. If some of you are questioning something in your lives, read this as an inspiration. wink

i started reading this and i couldnt believe how ridiculous the story was,i kept re-checking the author's name because i couldnt believe that someone who wrote something as brilliant as afterschool nightmare came up with this crap...but meh,the manga's old maybe thats why its not as good as her later works?

The first volumes were really good even though I didn't like the art much. Still, the plot was intriguing, the idea was really cool, and the characters were pretty promising... but then it was as if the manga divided itself in two. In the first part intense things happened to interesting characters, and in the second part the heroine wandered around together with her boring romantic interest and the bored-but-hopeful readers.
I dunno why people here call the ending realistic, I'd say it was simply safe and predictable.

It's childish and very very annoying. If the manga had great art atleast, it would probably be more tolerable, but the story and art are bad.
Bunch of kids("bishonen", megane-kun and yankee) play justice in court. I can't take it seriously. It's a load of ... pretty words with no real substance.
Don't waste your time.

It gets better

My last review on this series called it "childish" and "without substance"... I hadn't finished reading it at that time. It may start off as little more than a harem series with a debate-club gimmick, but the last two or three volumes improve exponentially in plot, depth, and art. By the end of this series I felt as though Diamond Head was nearly as good as Mizushiro's more-celebrated works.

good plot & some great insights in what it means to "judge fairly." I really liked it! it wasn't lacking in romance, but it wasn't stupid & melodramatic. definitely read it.

it was really unique...at first i thought that it would be somehow like OHSHC or beauty pop...but this one is really unique and it has its own charm...it wasnt ordinary...

the plot...welp...i really like it all the situations and also the minor characters!!! they were realistic...i havent encountered something like this before...

the characters...i like them!!! the heroine...shes very frank and also very passionate about what she doing...and the bishies theyre also pretty realistic...i mean they dont just fall for the main lead...i mean i really like leica-sama but it would be unrealistic and very cliched if he goes for nanao after the death of his girl....and also setsu and kiri!!! they are not like the others who just suddenly butts in because they also fell for her!! i like that very much!!!

the ending!! i love it!!! the part about setsu...it made my heart ache...espeacially the prayer to god...it felt like my heart is about to burst...as for nanao who didnt end up with leica- sama its okay cause its real and better off that way...

Shallow

I found this to be one of Mizushiro's poorer works. I had higher expectations from reading her other stories such as X-Day. The character development was poor for most of the major characters. Who are these people? What are their backgrounds? Besides Raika and Setsu, no one has any kind of past. The case of the week aspect took time away for the reader to learn about the members of the Judiciary Club. In the end, I felt I knew more about the plaintiffs and defendants than Nanao, Katsuma or Kirihiko. What makes Nanao so special to be invited?

Spoiler (highlight to view)
For a shoujo, the romance portion was under developed. Why did Katsuma fall for Nanao? Though they are in the club together, there isn't much development between the two of them. Nanao choosing Katsuma at the end felt like a convenient thing for her rather than something heartfelt.

The judicial aspects were an interesting and unusual. Mizushiro-sensei provides realistic minor characters and I enjoyed the darker tone near the end of the series. I really liked the ending as well. Better than average but should have been better.
