It's frustrating how gripping the mystery begins, but the closer it gets to the answer, the more Scooby-Doo like it becomes, until the last volume where it drives off a cliff. Of course, it also has the tacked on grandiloquent claptrap speech delivered by the villain where they decry the human condition as innately evil that so plagues Japanese media.

Just avoid this one. All that awaits is disappointment and mystery blue balls.

I thought this was going to focus a lot more on the supernatural factor, but it gains plenty of points by being a murder mystery. The art is very nice and each character has its own agenda, I was very interested in finding out who was behind all those attacks and murders. I highly recommend it because you just don't see a lot of this genre in manga outside of Conan and QED, in this one things aren't very rushed and it portrays the Meiji era.
Give it a try, you won't regret it!

This is a short story, but a really good one. It starts slowly, but develops nicely and has an amazing ending. If you want a well developed story, with mystery, crime and supernatural,mixing historical facts with fiction, read this. Totally worth my time!
