This manga is josei because it was published in a magazine aimed at an older female audience. So the protagonist being male or female doesn't make a difference. As I think about it, women reading this would perhaps already be familiar with the situations one encounters in raising a child, so seeing Daikichi's attempts and sometimes failures would take on an extra amount of humour due to this familiarity.
Anyway... this is a really adorable and funny series that I think male and female readers could enjoy. Being told from the guy's perspective does make it rather unique and give it a fun, unexpected tone. The artwork is loose and sketchy but it has a nice style. And Rin has a lot of spunk. It's so fun to watch her throughout this series!

its speaking more to the male audience. the whole series is from the guy's pov of a cluless gyuy who suddenly has to care for a child. i say its more seinen than anything else.
No reason for guys not to like it too.

Well, those of us who aren't kids anymore, anyway. It is cute, sure, just not the kind of flowery cute you'll find in the more horrible realms of shoujo.
And, get the books if you can. Not exactly super cheap, but excellent quality.

When i read the first chapter the first thing i thought of is Aishiteruze Baby, only more mature and with less romance as a male reader i can appreciate this time of work as well it something different to read rather then all the other mindless rubbish out there nowadays. if your looking for a heart warming piece don't look any further this one is for keeps.

josei, really? i was wondering where is the big (in personality) woman that stars this manga? never come out? its just about a adoptive father and a child (and its not the green girl manga yotsuba) his strugling now but lucks that he cares about the girl, really lovely, im shure lots of good fathers would behive like that if they got childs, too bad guys dont like this subject... now i understand why is josei

Though as of now there is only one chapter i feel that this series has potential to become great. The artwork is very clean and well done, and the story line is ok.
