An Older Piece

This 2002 work is not as dramatic and punchy as Kanbe-sensei's usual angsty fodder. The stories are simple, but touch on something everyone can connect too: wanting to feel special to someone that is affectionate with everyone; wanting to be reassured when one feels insecure.
It's not one of her best, but it was a pleasant sweet and simple read. The characters do fall a bit flat and the art isn't as dramatic as her later works. Worth a read, though, if you are already a fan, like myself!
Happy Box seemed incomplete with the whole, "I want to be the seme" theme.
The scanlation work is clean and smooth.

I liked the one-shot better than the rest of the manga. The characters in it were much more likable. The first couple caught me off guard. I thought I had started reading the wrong chapter or that perhaps this book was a sequel because it seemed to start off in the middle of the story. The second couple was better, but the whole story seemed like it was missing something. The third couple were much more endearing and cute.

Kanbe-sensei's artwork is top notch as always but both couples were downright boring. And grumble_cakes hit the nail on the head: there was no chemistry between the characters. Reading this manga was akin to watching a C-grade movie with bad yet handsome actors...

I Have to disagree i didnt like the second couple the seme was such a moron, he saw nothing wrong with kissing and slobbering other girls in front of the uke and then kissing him the second (literally) after he kisses these girls (in a room full of people) and yet he doesn't understand why the uke is upset with him, even though he himself gets jealous when the uke is hit on by a girl. The seme was a complete imbecile, i really couldnt stand him. also Yoshito is a fool he doesnt want the other guy to hurt Isuke but he doesnt think that by sleeping with someone else that he'll be the one hurtin him?

The art in this book is as beautiful as ever.
But the first couple are boring. The 2nd one are better. I hope there's more about them.

I never felt the chemistry between the two main characters. You know, that X factor that makes you wish they would get over their problems, say they love each other and get to the smexing already? Even the second minor couple managed to be boring like that so I was mostly apathetic about what's going on with either of them. I do still love the artwork and the oneshot was very nice.

I like the 2nd couple better. The story is more developed for them.
