This is a manga adaption of the novel, and the story is simply beautiful, there are full English translations available online.
There is also a tv series adaption called 'General & I', but in my opinion, the original story is way better since the show did change many aspects.

I wrote the below comment Oct 4th 2014...It's so funny how i'm currently starting the Chinese drama based off the novel..i heard there was a anime/manga version so i looked it up. Turns out a read it 3 years ago haha. What a small world. I suggest everyone to watch "General and I" because the cast plays it well and the details of everything is absolutely stunning.
The manhua is borderline corny. Like..facepalm cliche corny. The premise of the storyline is good though and because I enjoy reading historical manga I will continue the manga! Hopefully I can get my hands on the novel too since this is based off it.

Worst possible cliff hanger ever! I got hooked and now it's on hiatus... Life can be so cruel lol
Maybe I'll try the novel, but I REALLY hope the author and artist decide to continue with this gem.
I suggest reading, but be warned, not finished, so ending/stop point at a game changing cliff hanger.

it actually makes sense. I don`t know if it is due to translation or bad composition but after chapter 7 everything takes a dive in the manhwa. It was hard to keep reading. If anyone is interested in the plot then better switch to the novel 
I'm not a fan of manhua, I don't read much manhua so I don't know what the others like. However, I saw a page of this series on FB and I really impressed, so I tried reading it. Everything in the art: backgrounds, clothes and flowers, etc. are great, except humans and human faces (I cannit distinguish their faces -.- though they claim that woman is pretty, this one is not... they both look exactly the same 
) I really like it. On the other hand, the plot is terrible, the series has its storyline but it was presented in an incoherent way, random events happened, I cannot understand what is what.
I gave it 6/10 for the art

I have to say, I love the MC. Not a typical shoujo character.
From what I've read, I honestly really like the story (or maybe that's just me). Honestly speaking though, I think that ever since the male lead and her started having ties with each other, she became a bit more like the shoujo character you imagine. Hopefully she doesn't change as the story goes on.

The reason why she didnt do much work was bc she was intelligent. She was taught different thing including the art of war. She also participate in many battle as a strategist along side with the young master.If I remember correctly, her young master was considered her a candidate for bride to be (and the old master didnt oppose to it). The manga just didnt explain that part clearly but the novel did. This is a really nice interpretation of the novel and I hope it will be off hiatus soon bc Ive.alreadh finish the novel and now im starving to see it comes to life in a manga..
And people please stop writing a review (without updating it) when you barely finish chapter one.. it gives gem like this bad reputation.

I LOVE the main female. She's very smart, witty, and keeps a cool head in trouble.
It's obvious that she's hiding some secrets as well, since even though she served a master, she wasn't really a maid or concubine. She's shown she knows a lot about politics and war strategy, is very talented, and is apparently worth a lot of money (since she said her master would faint from laughter if he heard she sold for so little at the slave market).
The guy is also interesting, if slightly more cliche.
All and all, hope this gets picked up.

The girl is intelligent but she isn't a snob. She's good at assessing her situation and goes around in an otherwise easy going manner. The guy is the typical powerful man; arrogant and used to getting his way, he's enchanted by her music, her expressions, and her behaviour. Lol it's cute and art is beautiful. It's a pity that both the author and artist are more in the bL business. I'd like to see more shoujos produced by the duo. Also I hope it comes out of hiatus.
I'm only about 19 or 20 pages into the story, but from what I can tell, from things like her not ever having to work as much even though she was a maid and how she was always pampered with nice clothes even though she's a MAID, I'm guessing that this girl was a part of of concubine or was some sort of mistress to her "Master". Either that or she was just spoiled for no reasons whatsoever...
Anyway, this Manhua seems fine so far (despite the completely shady background and the way it started off) so I'll keep reading, but I don't think I really like the main character already.
