Description
From Solaris-SVU:
Though his name may mean good luck, Daikichi is far from lucky. Losing his home and his job, he narrowly avoids being homeless when he finds an old abandoned apartment building. But the apartment isn't nearly as abandoned as it first appeared, as it's being occupied by the ghost of a girl who committed suicide there many years prior.

Really cute despite the heavy fanservice.

My Lovely Ghost Kana is a surprisingly sweet love story between a normal guy and a ghost girl. It's a "slice of life" series so it consists of separate day-to-day stories that rarely build upon each other. Don't pick this up if you're expecting something with a heavy plot--MLGK is for the people who just want to read something that would make them go home just a little bit happier.

Surprisingly Good

I didn't expect this manga to be that good but it is. The relationship between the two characters is bittersweet and they have a innocent atmosphere even though there are ecchi scenes. The character development with the two protagonist is good with some good comedy mix together. I like that the plot is simple and there are no wasted chapters.

The things that I kind of didn't like is that we don't get to find out much about Kana.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It really sucks that we find out that Kana killed herself at the end with no explanation of why she did it. I really liked the ending because the author could have ended the manga on a sad note but instead leaves it as a open ending.

It makes me feel sad for Daikichi and Kana because their relationship is like a doom fate sort to speak because we know that their relationship will end one day.

Overall its a great manga to read and it may seem like just another ecchi manga but it's not so don't miss out on it.

Loved it. Story about a man so broken that he feels he could have ended up committing suicide becoming a man that loves life. All due to ghost who he falls in love with.

Story is great, comedy is great. Only one problem. I felt it didn't have a clear cut ending. I mean it isn't actually needed but my preference would have been to have 1 last "story arc" in which Kana goes through various troubles and finally find out why she died in the first place.

It feels like bliss, feels like summer rain, feels like a calm starry night at the countryside, with mild cold breeze, shivering the body... that and all other amazing feelings that are hard to explain but cherished close to heart... That is how this manga feels to me.

At the beginning, this is indistinguishable from porn, but as it drifts away from this as it goes.

Not sure what other people are referring to with sucker punches - the story is pretty much entirely positive and heartwarming. There's a bit of bittersweetness mixed in, but the sweet far outweighs the bitter.

This series was a delight to read because it always had a refreshing feel to it. The main relationship was playful yet intimate, simplistic yet exciting, and gave me something to look forward to.

The story is so amazingly done. The first part is sort of all ecchi, but I really feel the love going on between the 2 characters ie the protangonist and the ghost. They're so cute! This manga gives such a "feel good" feeling to me and it's so refreshing to read a story like this. Gave me a few chuckles too. A Definite Read For Anyone.

The manga gives off a relaxed, everyday atmosphere. The character's relationship isn't so much romantic as it is pleasant and is handled in a mature and sex-positive manner. Everyone clearly has drama, but they spare us and keep it to themselves. The plot never contradicts itself, staying internally consistent.

The first volume has a nice climax and wraps it all up nicely. The 2nd and 3rd are standalone stories that keep to the theme of the series, with only one exception. I got the impression that volume one said it all and the rest was delicious icing on the cake.

Just a nice, ecchi slice of life

Pretty much a down-to-earth, take it easy story about a guy and a ghost falling in love. It's one of those feel good stories that tells you about love, pain and the true meaning of death.

I would have liked it more if the author gave some more info about Kana, especially the reason she took her life and what kind of life she was living before that but didn't get the satisfaction of that. Anyway, good read though.

A rare quality sex focused rom-com

Yutaka is one of the few mangaka who can write a sexually explicit series as as Virgin Night (6/10) without throwing storytelling or his female leads under the bus. I further have no problems with the sexual parts of this narrative and wouldn´t call any of it pornographic despite the hentai origin. That restrained aspect should also be the reason for the "early" cancellation as neither the audience nor the publisher had time for a cutesy rom-com with deep seated sadness underneath. A shame and my rating would be higher if the author got the chance to explore Kana´s backstory and let the narrative reach it´s logical conclusion over time but it´s nice to see a romance that bothers to actually devolve the couple and gives context to their sexual relationship.
Read his Seinen Ai-Ren (8,5/10) to see what could have been as that one also got gradually darker as it went along.
The satirical Jigokuren (8/10), the out of control The Penisman (8/10) by ISHIDA Sui and most importantly Natsu no Zenjitsu (9/10) further prove that more Japanese authors are capable of writing sexually explicit works on the level their French or American colleagues and Yutaka deserves another chance at longer form storytelling.
