It's fluff. Just enjoy it for what it is.

It's one of those "guilty pleasure" titles. People are gonna bitch about "Onos, not another harem" but they're still gonna follow the story intently and eagerly anticipating the next chapter bigrazz Take it for what it is. Fluff. Nothing out to be a literary masterpiece. Just something to enjoy and kill time.

Good, yet ultimately lacking

So like the other comments here have said, this manga takes things a little differently by focusing on a different girl in every volume. At the end he ends up with one girl and when the next volume starts the plot also resets. This setup has a couple of advantages over a normal manga, namely that no girl feels marginalized and everyone ends up with a quick 8-10 chapter plot that concludes nicely. However the biggest problem in the story lies in our main character. To put it bluntly, he's Generic Love Interest Man. What I mean is, the guy has about as much personality as a piece of wet cardboard. Now, I get it. This was based off a visual novel dating sim, and those games usually have a main character who's kind of a blank slate so the player can sorta ease themselves into his shoes. However this is a story and more than once I found myself wondering if these girls just really wanted to date a passive guy who would do whatever they said. The female characters are generally better developed, but even then most of them are pretty interchangeable apart from their one character trait (childhood friend, soccer, rich, ect.). I just wish some of the characters left more of an impact because by the end I only really enjoyed one character (the genius girl) because she kinda sorta had a personality.

Another problem is that it isn't really the most interesting manga. Sure it's heartwarming at times but the lack of drama or tension means that some of the volumes drag on a bit. The final volume suffered from this the most unfortunately.

Is isn't a bad story by any means but it is shallow. If you're just looking for some quick and fluffy love stories then this will be a nice little read. If you want something deeper you'll probably need to look elsewhere.

All about the girls

Dont get me wrong, when i say "all about the girls" i dont mean that it's a huge fan service (in fact the barely is anything ecchi in it). I just mean that instead of a manga basing around a male lead making the girl love him, it feels the opposite. Which i find very refreshing and great. The story rarely focuses on the male lead, and (though each volume is different) it focuses mainly on the one girl. Since this was based on a video game it makes sense.

The male lead is like a blank slate which is then decorated by the amazing personalities of the girls he meets. I love the focus on the girls. With every new volume, you fall in love with a new girl.

All in all, i say that this is a very sweet romance manga. Short stories about eternal love which i find fantastic. The lead is great even though he barely does anything. The love interests are what makes this manga so awesome. This manga as already stated by da_MiGHTy_pLUm is one of those "guilty pleasure" titles. Just read and just enjoy. It really is one of those manga's you will always hope you can read the next chapter. So i say read this manga to please the hopeless romantic in you.

Do not compare manga with anime
by Darknemo2000

No one should ever compare this manga with anime, since anime has NOTHING to do with the manga or the game itself. Mostly character's physical outlook and the names are similar in the anime, but that is generally it.

Anime is totally different thus is a Kimikiss Alternative rather than Kimikiss as such. So one should forget about comparing it with manga as it makes no sense whatsoever.

The manga has each volume dedicated to each heroine separately, which it makes more sense considering it was a game with all interactions and possible choices between heroines.

It makes more sense than anime, where they try to force it all into a singular plotline by adding more idiotic main male leads that look more like a siblings of the main character and have pathetic personality (or lack of it).

In this manga there wil be no real twist just straight forward romance, which will probably make look characters a little bit dumb. Yet I think its still much better choice than in anime.

This way each heroine will get her own time, and will end up with main hero. It will reset by the beginning of each new volume as it will switch to completely new heroine.

Yes, mangas plot is simple and characters are dumb, but it actually can be a great relief from those annoying plot twists that look forced and could be guessed miles ahead. Its your straightforward romance where heroine interacts with the main character and the end up being in love. I find it to be a pleasant break from your typical mangas or animes (Like Kimikiss alternative for example).

Excellent light romance

As of Chapter 8: a pleasant, straightforward story about a boy, a girl, friendship, and love.

So far, none of the nasty twists and turns you get in a lot of romance manga. There was enough uncertainty about where the story was going to keep me impatient for the next chapter to come out, but the resolution in chapter 8 left me feeling completely satisfied.

Now I'm left wondering where this is going in future volumes: does it continue the story of these two characters, or does it switch to a different story?

(Edit 2: as mentioned by others, each volume is a different story with different characters, but the same basic boy meets girl light romance theme.)

Note: this is not at all a hentai or adult series. I'm not sure it even qualifies as ecchi. Some kissing and snuggling, but romantic not erotic, and no nudity, just a little cleavage and a few brief glimpses of girls undies.

Edit: forgot about the bathtub scene, but even that has no real nudity. smile

Judging from the first chapter i wouldnt call this hentai..seeing how it was barely even ecchi (Although it gave the mood that a hentai manga usually gives off).

I love the art on this manga also the story and various setting depending on each gal. BUT it's still tenchi complex and I've seen more than enough going from Shuffle! to Nagasarete Airantou...
I love the art tough I'm not pleased fully with this manga.

As the plot progresses, and the art influences the reader to follow the manga, one can find oneself "intently and eagerly anticipating the next chapter" as quoted from da MiGHTy pLUm.

Yep, pure unadultarated love in this one, in fact this is one of the most romantic seinen I have ever seen. In each arc the main character deals with each girl in differrent ways accorrding to their personalities which will having enjoying each arc.

It's a great series to read with nice characters, great art and a solid background.

Not bad but...

Based on the 4 chapters I read there is nothing exceptional in this manga. The characters are shallow and it has no more plot than a hentai doujinshi.
The art is good, the ecchiness is ok, but that's it.
Well it is still quite early in the series, so it can become something really great, and it is fun enough to read as it is now, so I will check it after more chapters come out...
