I liked it

I think my favorite part of the entire series is how everybody in the dorms kind of looked out for each other. It felt less like a dorm and more like a community, ha ha. Like they had their own way of solving problems and dishing out punishment, and I just really enjoyed how everybody covered each other's backs when it came to outside threats. One of the charming parts of the story definitely.

I actually really liked how Miki's and Hiroki's relationship evolved over time. Like even when he was sleeping with the teacher/dorm manager, I just knew that there was something going on between them? Like the mangaka just did a really good job with the subtle aspects of their relationship.

About Masamoto and Izuka, I kind of wish there was more a focus on them? Their relationship happened super friggin quick, but they're so cute that all is forgiven at the same time, ha ha. But it would have been nice if their relationship could have been a little more fleshed out like Miki's and Hiroki's. But it was totes nice watching Masamoto watch out for Izuka, reaffirm that it wasn't his fault, and punch his abusive step-brother in the face. Satisfaction.

Coooons though. I'm not gonna lie, there were some aspects of the story that I was uncomfortable with since it came dangerously close to being sexual assault (and in some cases it straight up was). But overall, for a yaoi (where romanticized rape is a common thing), I think the series had a more realistic and appropriate attitude towards abuse than others. Not perfect, but not completely terrible either. Tolerable. I absolutely loved it when they chased out that new dorm manager since he was abusing his students. Absolutely satisfactory to watch. >:]

Take the bad with the good...

There are a lot of things which I really like about this series. The characters are interesting in some ways and overall it has a good feel to it. I have enjoyed reading it multiple times. That said, it definitely has flaws as well. The first and most blatant for me is that it is a bit offensive at times. Gay men/boys are either predatory and dangerous(sometimes even with young children) or completely weak, meek and easily played. If they are anything different, they're typically "straight". I know some people don't mind that sort of thing because it is a "fantasy", but it never really sits right with me. Secondly, it is repetitive. They run in to similar problems over and over again. They also do similar things over and over. Thirdly, the story does not end when it should. Instead it continues to go on and on with the same repetitive nonsense, never really finding another comfortable place to end. I still consider this a favorite, mostly because it stands up to re-reading.

This series is pretty stupid: some stories about a all-boys dormitory and someone is prostituting himself, another student sleeps with a teacher who looks like a middle scholar and there are always some strange (!!) situations the characters have to solve. Pretty ridiculous, but not funny.

So why did I give it a 10? Because of Hiroki and Miki. I love both of them. Maybe they are my favorite yaoi-pairing of all time (and I read yaoi since almost 10 years).

Relatively good series

Overall, the manga was good. It had good characters with distinct personalities, two couples you could easily related to, and a nice, cute, sweet storytelling method in telling their romances, with just enough sexual tension. I do have two complaints about it though:

1) The oneshots weren't very good. They felt lacking in relevance so I just skimmed through them and they came off as incomplete but I couldn't really bring myself to care because they weren't that interesting.
2) The story drags in volume 4 and the first half of volume 5. The chapters just felt like rehashed material that was already resolved and new circumstances just conveniently put in for the sake of continuation. The natural, progressive passing between events stop and the relevance becomes forced. She got it back in the second half of volume 5, ending the series with a a good complete and natural end but the chapters before that made it clear that the series needed to come to an end.

Man, it was an awesome read! I liked Hiroki and Miki! hahaha! They're a cute couple! biggrin
The storyline was quite nice, although sometimes I'm quite confused with whatever that's going on, but it's still a nice manga! I like their jokes too!

Oh, goodness. How can I sum up just how much I loved this? I just. Wow.THIS was just by far one of the most brilliantly realistic, romantic, and beautifully written mangas I've read in a while. Jeez, I haven't loved a manga like this since Dog Style. Fans of that kind of slow-building romance will likely adore this.

The real brilliance, however, started when it began to focus on Hiroki and Miki. The two of them together are so perfectly opposite, so perfectly timid, so perfectly courageous, and all the while, they brought tears to my eyes. Because I believed it, and I felt what they felt it. The subtle change in their relationship is written with such a tenderness, and my mind is still reeling over all the moments they shared. Just...gah.

This isn't for people who enjoy sex on every page, so if plotless sex is what you want, actually skip this. Because it has heart. It has a point. It has humor. It has characters you will fall in love with, and it has moments that just feel REAL. Read it, if you're hesitating at all. So. Absolutely. Stunning. Can't say it enough, and I hope other people appreciate it as much as I have.

So i've only been able to read up to volume 3, chapter 2, but even so im really enjoying it bigrazz its amusing, its cute, its romantic at times and its also got its fluffy moments. Its a nice read, relaxing with a hint of additional drama at times to keep things lively. Its great. The art is also a little interesting - its a style im familiar with but i dont usually see it done so well with such a large number of characters ^^ i like it.

The main plot and the most interesting part of this manga starts in volume 2 with the introduction of the realtionship between Hiroki and Miki and as we follow them through 4 volumes. Miki and Hiroki's realtionship is probably one of the most complex I have read for a long time. Especially in volume 3 and 4; when Hiroki is mentally distancing himself from Miki despite having been the one to initiate their relationship to begin and the subtle change in their friendship is great. This is not a epic romance, it's an awkard and slow moving, subtle relationship between to highschool boys who doesn't really know exactly what is is they want. Miki is wonderfully emotional and open about his feelings while still being in character and without being "tsundere" as a bunch of yaoi characters tend to be. Hiroki is mischieves, but insecure and fragile in his own way and it's all so wonderfully done. I reccomend this manga for anyone who likes un-glamouros, realistic love stories more than those epic romances <3

Cute, sweet, light.... but didn't win my love until volume 2 when the character focus shifted to Miki and Akira. Something about those two and their struggle....

The art takes a little bit of getting used to, but I've learned to love it as well!

All in all, a thumbs up from me!

This is an awesome read. I think it started average but the story can hook anyone or someone inclined to reading BL that is. Being published at 2001, the art is great. Bishies are sure eye candies. I particularly love volume 2.Hiroki x Miki pairing is adorable.

I hope someone pick this up again...because I want moar!
