I just don't understand how Yamato falled for Suzuka who treats him like a idiot all the time, and arguing all the time that it made me think...Yamato when are you going to tell her to go to hell...but since this is not real life ...
I recommend to read another romance manga instead

I was happy reading this, more than any other sports manga(H2 for exp.). Why? Cause sports life is not just about Koshien smile.
And main character, although had talent, had to work to be successful both in love life anf career.

About the ending. It's not such an uncommon story. And just because they had to take a Fuka detour, doesn't mean they'll lose their passion for sports.

Ps. If anyone has problems about Suzuka's personality, they should reread parts about her father. With a parent like that... brrr... poor child.

This has got to be my favorite manga ever. It comes close to my idea of the greatest romance story. Even though some people hated how Suzuka was b*tchy, i personally enjoyed it and thought it was a great touch to her character, she wants to be chased after. It was really good the only part I hated was how long he was going out with the mangaer. Every chapter he spent as her boyfriend made me cringe (except the part where he takes suzuka to his hometown and on the bridge). To make this manga perfect i would have made suzuka go out with another guy after he breaks up with the manager girl. Then show more scenes of yamato crying, and in pain. that would just make the reunion of the two so much more powerful! The manga actually made me cry twice, and i love crying over a manga. (I know im such a wuss)

I really cant say to much about this manga or ill spoil it.

i first wasnt going to read it cause on this site it said it was only translated to V6 but thats not actually the case i found it fully scandelated.

This is a fantastic read from start to finish, the art work is beautiful, the story is touching and not unrealistic and i felt completely satisfied with the ending. I look forward to reading other works from this artist.

its 18 chapters and it didnt feel to long, it was just the right length, this is one of my favorite reads of all time, Read it! you wont regret it.

This manga is an incredibly enjoyable ride. The only thing is, you have to keep in mind that it should be placed not with Love Hina or Ai Kora (good mangas in their own right), but rather with the likes of Asatte Dance and Living Game. It's kind of deceiving, really, because Suzuka's got the formal attributes of a school ecchi/harem romcom, and takes some time to pick up the steam, but what you actually get is a realistic, psychologically convincing story of a young couple's transfer from teens to adults (can you say Bildungsroman?). Oh, you're bound to wish to smack them many times throughout the series, but it's not because the characters are unconvincing - it's because they are, and they act according to the rules of real life, not the naive and simplified preconceptions of what relationships are like.

Considering that, the ending, which took a beating from some of the commenters, is actually organic and fulfilling as well, as long as you remember that this is a realistic manga, not a harem/idealized love story. In fact, I'd hold Suzuka's ending as one of the best things about this manga, for both the sense of emotional closure and being so damn positive and uplifting. True, there are so many mangas - as well as books, movies etc. - that botch their endings, unable to come up with a logical conclusion to the plot and character development. But Suzuka clears the hurdle with ease and grace (come on, where else to use a track-and-field metaphor if not here?).

The only complain to be voiced, IMO, is that around Vol 6 the quality of scans takes a dip to plain shitty. Kudos still to those that scanslated the chapters, but it would be great if Dynasty or anyone else would've finished the job of releasing good quality scans of this manga. Seriously, it's so worth it.

This is a good manga...

Even though it is fictitious but some aspects do apply to real life situations...

BTW Suzuka's attitude thoughout 3/4 of the manga towards the man character is horrible.... She was mean!!!!

But i love her!!!

I know all of us finished this series. Actually i started the anime which seriously LAME. as in the ultimate LAME. Then i got curious how things turned out so i hunted down the manga of Suzuka. I like the story how it progress and how they find to work things out in later part. Im happy with the ending but i wish the mangaka kinda showed us a later picture is Yamato was able to get to Olympics or not, whether suzaka goes back to high jumping and like who ends who. But im content how things ended ^^ I recommend this manga to the people who are reading the reviews and comment we written here. ^^

to tell the truth suzuka is a great manga. one of the best i've read so far.the only problem is the ending. its regrettable cause i agree with one of the other remarks that they should have continued their careers and have a time skip and then they get married. coming down to the end its a shock!i finished reading it yesterday and i kept thinking about it all night and today :how it should have ended different, why like that , damn i feel i wasted all my time. but really i enjoyed the whole up to the news of her pregnancy.
it could have even ended with the abortion but that would have changed and complicated eveything. really from the news of the pregnancy i started to dislike the manga. i really think they should have ended it differently. but hey! like somone said nothings perfect .OVERALL SUZUKA IS REALLY EXCELLENT. i'd give it 99 out of 10 although thats not possible!(the minus one is because of the ending)
trust me this manga is a worthwhile top of the line kind and all the emotions really get to you.man if it were real!!(again ...not the ending though) alright i've stressed on that enough!READ SUZUKA YOURE IN FOR A HELL OF AN ENJOYABLE RIDE!

Beautiful ending

I don't know what sort of ending some of you were looking for. Based on the events that transpired and the intense affection the two lead characters shared for one another, this is a very plausible ending. I got teary eyed by the ending for multiple reasons: 1) The manga ended, which was really choked me up, 2) It ended on a very happy note, with the lovers finally not fighting like they did for the first 3/4 of the manga, and there are more but if I say anymore I would be spoiling the story (although there are already blatant spoilers in the rest of these comments - be warned people!). Anyway This is one manga that is going to continue to choke me up with emotion everytime I think about it, so everytime that happens I need to read a pure shounen manga like Naruto or Bleach to dumb my mind down. All I can say is that I hope I personally end up in as loving a relationship as Yamato and Suzuka have going by the end of this manga, and I wish the same to all of you. Everyone deserves that kind of love.

an honest romance

Suzuka is without a doubt a romance for guys, more specifically guys who tend to not do well in their relationships. Of course you don't have to be a complete failure in life to find yourself rooting for the hero. But of course, empathy makes Suzuka an infinitely more satisfying experience than sympathy.

What made Suzuka such a different romance manga was the uncertainty factor. There were countless moments where Yamato could have given up (and believe me there were more deserving women waiting in line) but didn't. There were times when the sacrifices he had made for love were so painful that I honestly believed Suzuka to be the villain. It's this suspenseful uncertainty that keeps the chapters fresh.
Like all shounen romance mangas, the hero starts out completely lacking in the romance department. However, what makes Suzuka such an honest romance manga is that the main character is equipped with real world flaws without the typical shounen manga plot devices to aid him. No big breasted girls are held up to him on a golden platter, no convenient coincidences to change his love life. What he gets he worked his ass off for and then some. You will find yourself sulking through Yamato's depression and celebrating with him when he triumphs.
