Frustratingly annoying

Every time I read another Hwang Mi Ri work I surprise myself. Like, I know that HMR hasn't made anything more than decent but damn the hope for a good manhwa still comes. *long sigh* God, this may be one of the worse ones.

Just let me get this out of the way: the idea of crazy boys as romantic interests is always interesting IMO. Plus, its a reverse harem - why the hell not? /evil smirk/ Honggane started out as a 'guilty pleasure' sort of manhwa, but then it got really annoying real fast.

Well, there was no overarching plot to complain about. The art is typical HMR, which translates into 'not very good'. There's few detail and settings are recycled. Character designs are, to be fair, quite improved. The faces are drawn nicely, but the clothes are still terrible (lol). Characters, ho boy, are badly written. Its almost like the manuscripts for each person had been switched in development. They act erratically - meaning they go OOC a lot of times. There were two guys that got me interested in the beginning, namely Nanpa (the big brother) and his sidekick (forgot his name). I can't explain it, but there's something about their dynamics that drew me in ---- AT FIRST. Then HMR destroyed their characters completely.

And I realized I don't care anymore. This manhwa is excruciatingly painful to read. I couldn't care about the main couple - the girl is a melodramatic idiot and the dude is a bonafide ass. I don't understand why everyone else, who all seemed quite sensible, are pushing them together. God, this manga is annoying.

Honestly, it's nothing special but coming from the Hwang Mi-Ri robot it's pretty good. The plot deviates a bit from her other works
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(not by much, mostly just that there isn't a "beautiful raging bitch" in lurve with the hero.)
which was kind of the only thing that made this worth reading. It's mostly just a cute 'n funny short read and if you've read any other manhwa by Hwang Mi-Ri you already know how it'll pan out and the character's personalities

Honestly, why do I put myself through the pain of reading this author's manwhas? I've come to the point where i can recognize her crappy artstyle from miles away.

Aye.... I lament the waste of my time....

It wasn't her best works. I thought the characters were all annoying. I really wanted to punch the main character silly, she thinks about herself only. I almost had to force myself to finish it.
The beginning was good but as the story went on I just thought it was too much. The more I read the more I didn't like it.

A typical Hwang Mi Ri.

I will be honest - Most attempts of mine to finish a work by HWANG Mi-Ri and only Cutie Boy made it on my completed list. The reason: It was (unwillingly) a funny read. So, I didn't expect much this time, too. The drawing style isn't really to my liking, because the characters often seemed rather awkward together and the scary faces a bit odd with their white eyelashes. However it's not as bad as others and you can get used to it, as the story goes on.

Yes, the storyline ... What to say? It comes with a lot of drama and twists, but also (again unwillingly) lots of comedic moments. As another comment mentions it, the parents don't really play a big role and violence becomes a tool way to easily (e.g. Saying a guy is "cute", when he beats another one up, because that one helped the guys girlfriend in getting him jealous). As a regular reader of so-called "짱 (Jjang) Manhwa", most things regarding violance have already been expected by me, but using violence to present a guy as cool is rather questionable. And, to sum it up, in the blink of an eye almost every guy feels attracted to our heroine - and of course is handsome. Kkk. So, you know, what you get ... and again this one couldn't change my mind of HMR works. Sighs.

I've read better work from HMR, I don't really understand why this one is so popular compared to others.

I did an effort to read it to the end and I agree with Thalestris : the characters have really poor personnalities. For example :
- The main character is self centered and becomes overly dramatic once she falls in love. Also every guy ends up falling for her for no reason (I think the author wanted to make it because she had a refreshing personnality but it's a fail. When you read it it seems to come out of nowhere.).
- The male lead is too indecisive, it's one step forward and two backwards... He clearly lacks depth and the attemps to make his story with his family somewhat touching is another fail.
- As for the brother with a big sister complex in the beggining, he ends up giving up way too easily while his best friend (who was supposed to be more cold blooded) gets upset for every little thing. It's as if they exchanged characters in the middle of the story.

If you want to read some HMR work, i recommend you Hot Blooded Woman or Cutie Boy instead for example.

when I saw it was Hwang Mi-Ri's I was expecting something a whole lot worse.

Although the all characters are same as usual there were some minor changes. They are immature but maybe not as douchebaggy hahaha

The male characters were violent and all, but they weren't as glorified as in her other works. At some point, the female lead even questions their brutality (she doesn't really try to stop them or even tells that to their faces...still, the fact that she shows that she doesn't agree with their behavior is something to notice).

The female lead continues to be a freaking Marry Sue, captivating everybody for no good reason. All male characters fall in love with her as soon as they meet her. Girls may be bitches but she is something else. She's got something they can't describe, something that other girls don't. Wait, there was one male character that was reasonable, her little brother. He did care about her, but that's it.

There aren't that many female characters and they aren't relevant. Now that I think about it, it's kind of funny how her mother is absolutely absent. When she is taken to the police her father shows up, freaks out and hugs her, while her mother doesn't a word in the scene (I think I saw her in that panel but I'm not even that sure if was there).

I felt that Mi-Ri didn't try to make as many plot twists as she usually does // thank god //. So the story progressed faster. Anyway, wouldn't recommend this one...

Just those typical weird girls who know how to fight and is overly dramatic and the cold male lead that doesn't know anything about love....I'm just used to HMR 's manga being like this.

Honestly I don't know why I read on so far. Maybe I thought it would get better.
I was wrong. It just got worse and worse.
Basically we watch as a stupid girl does some things no other girl would do, makes a fool out of herself and continues to do so. And the guy is the one who makes a constant fool out of her, never the other way around. There has to be a balance otherwise the main character becomes pathetic and the main guy becomes aggravating.
Total fail.
Damn I wish I hadn't started reading it.
