Kind of disappointed

This series grabbed my attention because it seemed similar to Your Lie In April, which I enjoyed quite a bit. In a lot of ways I was right, but what I didn't expect was the heavy plot focusing on terminal illness. The story starts with a young girl who is forced to play the piano to her father's satisfaction, she is not allowed friends, or even nail polish. Her father wants her to become a famous piano prodigy at all cost, but all she wants is to be free.

Tragedy strikes and things change around the girl in ways that offer her the opportunity to explore the freedom she has always wanted. She meets a guy who has lived his entire life freely, something she couldn't even dream of! He teaches her to always strive for happiness in life and she learns how to love something other than the piano.

Without spoiling the story for others, my only complaint about the series is all the crying and chronic complaining. I understand sickness brings pain to everyone involved, but when entire chapters are spent looking at nothing but crying faces it goes a little overboard. I feel that I would have enjoyed more plot and less crying and selfishness coming from all of the characters. Of course all of this is based on personal opinion and others may enjoy this series immensely!

The plot is so good and very well excecuted. The art is wonderful and so are the characters. It's lovely to read but heartwrenching and a lot of crying. The feelings of this work really reached out and grabbed my attention. Did not read this along with the music but I can imagine it is even better then.

Well I'm honestly a sucker for tragedy but my heart just fell at the end of this one. The art is unique, and frankly, not that bad at all. I loved the romance; both characters were interesting. Some people rendered the portrayal of the tumour disgusting, but I thought it was honest and rather, interesting. I just really loved how frankly the author decided to portray his ideas, though for sure, I would've preferred a happier ending. The humour was also nice relief from dark plotline. Overall, for me, it was a really nice treat to read.

Depressing

I kept up with this webtoon on both Daum with the raws and when EGScans translated it. About a fourth of the way through I wanted to drop it because... well, the art was kind of gross. Not that it was bad art, but just the expressions of the character's faces was just a little icky for me. It was also very depressing.

It's not a bad story at all, but it is a tragedy for a reason. The romance is a little odd. There is some humor in it in the beginning.

In the raws on Daum there's a couple of chapters that play music, so if you read it I suggest looking those up (EGScans always puts the link to the raws with their scans), because the music sounds nice.

I did like how the MC was an awesome pianist who had to deal with daddy issues and loss of movement in her hands.

It's a 50-50 for me.

Diamond in the Ruff

I don't know when I got through all 23 scanlated chapters, but I did, and this is one refreshing series. There's a certain mood about it that's calming but slightly anxious as well. The guy is stubborn, but he definitely seems like a fighter deep down inside; and, the girl is stronger than she'd like herself to believe. I think both of their strengths are brought out more intensely from each other and that's one of the beautiful things about this manga.

I can't wait for more chapter!! biggrin

EDIT: Dropped this because it was too depressing. I couldn't continue.

This webtoon has decent art though sometimes the characters expression seems a bit exaggerated. Overall the charaters are quite relatable to and has some dynamics to them, plus the sometimes strange things will sure make you smile. I'm am looking forward to the development of the plot and charater relationships. Anticipating the next chapters!

LOVING IT

Since this isn't completed, I might change my mind later on, but so far so good. I usually read cheesy shoujo manga and not really this kind of manga. This isn't exactly cheesy but it doesn't exactly have an angsty feeling either. Kinda complicated. Melancholy, maybe? But this feeling is not really something many mangas have, so I love this manga. I also love that there are frequent releases, which is a really good point of it. Art is really good and the plot flows perfectly, easy to understand, and is realistic. The only reason why I have 9/10 is because this is yet to be finished. Once it is finished, I will most likely change the rating to 10/10. I totally recommend this to anyone no matter what his or her preference is.

stop swapping the demographics into josei thank you

Ok story. It becomes maybe even more interesting because I myself have played classic piano for a long time. The story pace is slow, and if there's something to remove I think it's all those annoying expressions (trying to be comic, nose snot, etc) but I guess it's something that male Korean artists use a lot. And some female ones too.

Webtoons, to my knowledge don't actually have target demographics, unless the artist him/herself has said there is one. (I remember an instance from somewhere where the Korean artist proclaimed her webcomic to be shoujo)

Diamond Dust's artist is male, and if he himself hasn't told this to be josei... (which I really doubt, sorry) the target demographics can't be that. A female protagonist in the story doesn't mean a story is josei either.

The scanlations site also has a clear description (on the left side, under ongoing projects pick Diamond Dust from the list): http://egscans.com/
They have tagged this as a shounen series. So there. Though because it's a webtoon it doesn't have to have a target demographics at all.
