Based on Mainichi Seiten! (Novel)

From Peccatore Sanctuary:
On a particular night, an unexpected guest suddenly turned up outside science fiction magazine editor, Obinata Taiga and his family's home! The person was actually Asuoo Shuu, who had married their elder sister; the dictator of the family, and since became their brother-in-law. What's even more incredible is that he is not only the writer that Taiga is responsible for, but was also Taiga's high school classmate! But, just when everyone was vehemently expressing their objection to Asuoo, they received news that their all-important sister has gone missing! Out of ideas, Taiga had no choice but to let Shuu stay on, they could only wait until their sister comes back to decide everything!

Read for the sake of the series

Like others have said there's lots of dialogue and it's a rather unclear story. The main beginning conflict that brought this peculiar family together seems unbelievable and far fetched, but this the foundation for the rest of the volumes so it's necessary to quickly read. At least the art is decent. The writing improves as the mangaka gains more experience, that much is clear.

The organisation here is kinda.. all over the place lol. There are so many plot points moving all at once that the main plot line sometimes gets pushed to the side and any gap in between feels really jarring. Not that the main plot itself is any clearer though; there are many confusing details that don't make a lot of sense, or very important scenes that do not get adequately elaborated on and are just glossed over in favour of plot progression. But considering that this was one of the artist's earlier works, it is understandable that her inexperience shows. I'm hoping the series will only get better from here.

I know some might just fold this manga forever because they didn't like the first story but this is just the beginning and the foundation of a whole series...I didn't like this as much but i still continued reading the whole series and i didn't regret my decision. I enjoyed the whole series very much so don't be put off by this beginning. My favorite is actually Hanaya no Nikai de but i place my comment here to encourage others to read this and so to understand the whole series. For me, the whole series is actually a gem so i would want to recommend this first part so you wouldn't be confused as to what is happening in case you chose just to skip this one. In anyway that you read this and stopped just here then you would be missing an amazing series. Anyway this is my opinion i hope that those who will read this series will find it amazing as I did.

Didn't like it at all.
Seemed like all of the manga was based around the boys arguing with each other and it was completely unromantic.
I disliked the two main leads and when the romance finally came in to question it just irritated me.
Not a very well written manga, and not as good as I'd hoped.
Don't read.

I really loved this story a lot. I got sick and tired of reading yaoi/shounen-ai that were to quick to the action so I really enjoyed this story. It takes its time to show you the characters and it's amazing that way.

My favourite characters were Akinobu and Yuuta. Akinobu especially since I could relate a lot to this character but, honestly, all the characters were amazing in this story.

There's only one thing I didn't like about this story, Shuu and Taiga never do anything together! Dx Absolutely drove me crazy since I was rooting for it in every single volume. v.v;; Oh well.

I think we have pretty much all grown up in a weird family, so you will probably be able to relate to some part of this manga, whatever your background. It's like 70/30 that this family is stranger than yours. That's what makes it neat. wink

Vol 8 Isoganaide
Vol 9-10 Hanaya no Nikai de

are my favorite parts of the entire story! If you can't read them online you can download them. You can't buy them, although I did buy a novel form of the first part of this entire manga.

It is true that Mainichi Seiten! has a lot of dialogue. Some stories are short and get down to business straight away. Other stories take time setting up the characters so that when things start to happen, the reader is familiar with the characters. Mainichi Seiten! is this second sort. For a story of this length (10+ volumes), the mangaka's plan is to take time in the beginning to set up the story. Whenever I read this manga, I am happy to take the time to get to know the characters before the action starts, because I understand that this is a long story.

There is a lot of humour in this work, and part of the enjoyment comes from the fact that earlier (sometimes far earlier) in the piece there was a bit of dialogue that set up the punch line later on. These brothers all have their own way of looking at things and the way they interact is hilarious. I've been around siblings who behave in a similar way - each one just has to put in their two cents (on whatever topic). It is hilarious to those looking on, and it often feels like a free-for-all. But they are all very close to each other. The mangaka really caught this kind of sibling behaviour and I enjoyed reading it. But it also involves a lot of dialogue to make it work.

However, if someone wants to read a quick story, this is not the manga to read. Mainichi Seiten! is for those times when the reader has the time to delve into a long story. It's as much a story about sibling relationships as it is a romance (and it has that, no worries there).

I enjoy both short and long manga, and Mainichi Seiten! is one of my fav long manga.

Too much talking.

Really, it wasn't bad, but I felt like there was just waaaay too much talking about things and not enough showing things. Any time there started to be a scene where we could see the relationship development and how everyone interacted, it always devolved into talking about it. I started to skip many of the word bubbles on the pages, even though they weren't particularly dense because of all the talking, and hoping to see what was going on instead of hearing about it.

I was also really disappointed that the opening scene at the publishing company where the eldest brother works (and for whom Asuou writes) was a one-off and almost every other scene took place in the house. I think there were three that didn't, but they were still family-centric, so they may as well have.

Overall, a fairly disappointing story, but not awful. I'm not sure if I want to continue it or not with the sequels.

I would agreewith ybless that the story is not a very original one. But that does not mean it's bad nor it is too predictable.
The best point of this manga is its humour. Some are odd, but definitely funny.

Ps: regarding Peccatore Sanctuary translation, I'm very sure they finished vol 2. Or at least more than chapter 6.
I read PecSanc. translation years ago, and I've read more than chapter 6. Unfortunately the data is long gone...

The plot about a mob of very close-knit siblings suddenly getting a new "mum" is not particularly complex (or original?), but this manga adaptation of the original novel is so lovely and funny. Definitely worth reading.
Note: I think the manga is better than the English translated novel (by June) because the visual gags come across that much better.
