i dont mind wordy manga, for example mind game manga like one outs with lots of explanation of the strategy or scify like 200+1 ya monogatari that heavily peppered the panels with scientific jargons. i love reading - but only if its useful or have meaning. but here, there is too much words that is thinner than air - its panels after panels of momentary thought and text-speak and it really tire me out to read such mundane conversations.

i understand though why the rating is very high as it seems 'realistic' and very true to the source material or message thread. but to me every medium have different kind of presentation and whats best for one is not good for another. thus the inane conversations, if directly read in message board might be thrilling, but here they just deadened natural flow of a manga.

the characters, as it is taken from real life, have realistic quality to it with the mc reacting like normal horny young adult with a pretty good head on his shoulder. the girls are also good, so if you like good characterization, this manga will provide some for you.

the art is rough and unoriginal, but pretty and easily understandable. some people might not like the fact its just sketches but i think it lend a more 'realistic' feeling to it as if this is really hastily drawn by members of 2ch to celebrate the couple victory.

all in all, i like the mc, the plot is quite plodding, and you better off skipping some inane text. but it is a pretty good romance.

I really do love it biggrin
But to say, it is a true story? Well, to quote 4chan's /b/:
Quote
"The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact."

I guess no one will truly know, but I would surely like it to be true biggrin
(And some parts are so ridiculous, that it's hard to believe, that he just made it up ;p)

This is one of the funniest things I've read in awhile. And to think something of this level actually happened? That just makes everything all the better. No wonder everything had a realistic feel to it. ha ha ha.

Good, but not stellar

After seeing so many recommendations and the stellar ratings, I started reading this with extremely high expectations. Maybe because I'm a girl though, it didn't live up to my expectations.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
One of the moments I found most interesting in this series was when Mr. Molester solved his misunderstanding with Mr. Glasses. At that moment I had high hopes for Mr. Molester to make his very first guy friend in real life, which could result in all sorts of interesting interactions and discussions beyond what he got on 2ch. With that, the series would have been about how a shut-in eventually acquires a well-rounded life with both male and girl friends as well as a girlfriend.

Instead, this boy who never had friends, let alone a girlfriend, somehow found himself surrounded by Only girls, all of which eventually get over initial misconceptions and quickly befriend him. This process was quite enjoyable, until the other romance "routes" were added. At this point the series started feeling like a dating sim (not helped by the "choice A or B?" conversation formats). Despite the well-written moments (especially from Mr. Molestor's POV), the girls fall so easily and quickly in love with someone they only meet from time to time that I can't help but think that they must be Really horny or desperate for a boyfriend. This reinforced the feeling that they're mere dating sim targets (challenging ones, but ones to be "won"). I mean, they started as total strangers, but in 2 months 2 girls were ready to sleep with him?

I can see why guys would love this. This series gives shut-in guys a lot of hope, and the main male character is easy to empathize with, with many realistic (?) flaws portrayed in sympathetic light. However, the girls were not written on the same level: they were overall "girls who guys would like to date", but conveniently seemed to lack any decent guys in their life. And in the end, they felt like routes to be played through, albeit challenging ones, rather than real-life girls (who would likely need a lot longer to grow so intimate with a stranger otaku).

Would have to say the art reminds me of Onani Master Kurosawa. And from there, i also learned not to underestimate a manga because of the drawing. For those voters who rates it 10, big chances you're an otaku too huh? biggrin I give it 10 so i'm one of you. And though it's quite different, i can certainly feel the main character. In short, epic.

I haven't written a comment for a manga in a long while, but this one deserves a comment. As they say in parts of the web, I came due to the title, I stayed due to the story. It really is a nicely paced story with good character progression and very nice control of drama and feel good moments. In addition, all the references and parodies make the comedy in this great as well. Definitely recommend for anyone, it was a genuinely a good read. Surprising, since I was intrigued by the strange title and wasn't expecting something serious. What a nice surprise.

You know, it's so different from any other piece. I'm at chapter 8 right now, and.. it's so cheering up to read this. Really, sometimes there is much more than your usual echi, boobs.. (what else do you mean> - you ask me), pretty face, soothing voice (really? more than that?), flirting, making eyes contact (you've completely lost me, sir=( ). I mean, sometimes all we need is to talk to someone about all and about nothing. When we can brush off all these masks we wear every day, when we can just be ourselves. I'd like personally thank YOKO (this particular piece's author) for bringing that nice feeling of which I had almost forgotten about and which is still somewhere in my heart.. this one and the other piece by the same author Onani Master Kurosawa, which also brings wonderful memories..
if your social life is a bit screwed up.. if you've lost some... taste, charm in life, than I highly recommend it to you. be happy!

I did not expect anything when I started reading this manga. It turned out to be really good. I was especially fond of the parody of JoJo and Baki and other manga. I suggest that you read this manga in one go. The art with the dialogue are superb in term of expression and timing, it will make you giggles to yourselves a lot. Although I found the characters' actions to be quite stupid and illogical, it does fit with people in reality. The protagonist is very cliche of Japanese standard, a wimpy guy, and I had some problems with the way he acted, but he is funny in his own way, and there are reasons to justify his behavior. I have more problem with Kansai though, I really like her throughout the manga, except only during the drama. As much as I understand her thinking, I am quite frustrated with her actions. Nonetheless, this manga has become one of the best in my opinions, and I will check other works from this mangaka

This manga is a lot better than other of the same categories, it is very funny, very addictive, very well paced. It is also very refreshing.
