This is a harlequin. ...And yet...
It was actually enjoyable? What just happened there? o_o
But in all seriousness, it was actually good. I found myself smiling really widely towards the end.
The characters were just so cute, especially the male lead! ^^
Okay, entering manga critic mode:
So, let me just start off by saying: that description is awful. It does not portray the manga very well at all. Because of that (and the manga's harlequin status) I went in expecting a forceful, borderline-rapist-type male lead.
So imagine my shock and delight when I got the exact opposite! The male lead is respectful, kind and caring. He's really cute.
As for the female lead; she wasn't all that remarkable - a bit stronger (emotionally and physically) than your average shoujo or josei female lead, but that's about all that set her apart. ^^'
But even more than the plot, (which I could actually stomach! *cue applause*) what sets this apart from most other harlequin manga is the art. Not only was it *NOT AWFUL* there were actually many points where I enjoyed it and/or found it cute! ^^
However, despite all that sets it apart from other *harlequin* manga, I would not recommend it to anyone. It wasn't bad, it just isn't really all that remarkable. It's amazing by harlequin standards, but hey, harlequins are a pretty low standard. xD
So basically, if you're bored and are in the mood for something cute-ish with rather unique art, give it a go. But if you have a huge wishlist full of things you might rather be reading instead, you should probably skip this one. Unless all you've ever read are harlequin manga, this doesn't really bring anything new to the table. ^^

It's nice and short with a little ancient legend thrown in. I think the hardest part for this was the artwork. All close-up shots were fine, but the regular action drawings (eating, talking, walking, even sitting) were no so much. It was distracting to have super detail on her eyes for all the close-ups, but almost not detail for everything else.
