I liked the first couple chapters while the story was about the incense and the mysterious shop. Then suddenly a rather bland girl appeared and magically transformed the story into a typical, bland high school romance between an overly nice guy and a boring, bland shy girl.
I really loved this! It was great!! My favourite author, guy with a sensitive nose(I happen to like stories that revolve around scents, OK?) and it's a romance! XD
But it really could have been so much better it it had been longer! Character development was slow, the past revealed really slow and it had a little too much going on. Would have preferred less characters and more character building. But I still wouldn't change the story.
Although the story is supposed to revolve around these mystical incense sticks which allow you to see the dead, unfortunately, that quickly falls into the background. Kinda a shame as it would have been really interesting. The ending felt a bit unfinished. Overall, a 7. That's as high as it gets. But you should READ IT! IT'S STILL A VERY GOOD MANGA, SO READ IT!

Story's sort of beating about the bush right now, or maybe there aren't enough chapters out to sort of settle the background and get started on the meaty part of the story already. Characters seem a bit less twisted than in Black Bird (at least there is that!)
No romance so far (I can see the buildup, it's not super subtle!), little mystery and supernatural element in there... maybe you should wait for at least a volume or two to be out so that reading it at one go makes sense.
EDIT: Eh? Only 3 volumes long? That seems anticlimactic considering the slow pace at the beginning. I wish Kanoko sama would give us a well crafted but not overly seeped in supernatural mystery high school romance soon. The more rakish the bishounen, the better
And obviously, a slightly less damsel in distress heroine.
