This is a fun thing to read if you are familiar with Ginga series. You shouldn't start with this though as the constant melodramatic referencing to future events and Riki's heritage will just seem ridiculous and awkward. Well, it's kind of awkward anyway but if you are a fan of the series you just roll with it.
Personally I would have liked to see more of Riki's time with Takeda but then I've been a huge fan of him ever since I was a kid. In general the story isn't all that impressive but it is entertaining to read none the less if you are a Ginga fan.
