Description
Sakura-Gari is a Taishou-era romance story, ten years in the making. It centers on 16-year-old Tagami Masataka as he is aiming to find his place in life. While attempting to start prep school as a rounin, he encounters Saiki Souma, the son of a distinguished noble of the Saiki Koushyaku family, and becomes part of the Saiki household.

It seems as though this will be the story of Tagami's life, taking us through both him growing up physically and emotionally.

her yaoi series is greater than any of her other shoujo ones.. and i've read all of them.

it has more depth, realistic references, befitting artstyle, great imagery, and such intelligent design that i can't even stop rambling..

i'm just in awe. the characterization blows me away with the overflow of emotion.

the depth of the characters goes as far as to show the desperation that humans can truly feel- and the result of their actions as well as their motives can be devastating.

I used to like Yuu Watase's shoujo, but they got worst and worst, and completely cliched. I personally don't like yaoi, but the story and the art are just great. I'm really caught up with is story! I want more!

Yuu Watase has been changing a lot when it comes to her manga (art, plot, cultural reference, target audience), but I've never expected her to change into a whole new genre! If you're a fan of Watase's shoujo works like Fushigi Yuugi or Absolute Boyfriend, then this title is definitely NOT for you.

What suprised me the most was that Yuu Watase would venture into the land of absolute yaoi filled with explicit scenes. Her art-style has also evolved from the way she usually draws people. The characters are becoming more and more realistic, and her attention to detail is sharper than ever. There aren't also any romantic cliche's about forbidden love or anything like that. What you have here is an estranged affair between a master and servant, and the dark secrets of a family that is engulfing both of them to the point of no return.

There is still drama and angst, but it is beautifully drawn out. The shifting of scenes and panels gives you the feeling that rather than reading a manga, it's almost like you're watching the anime.

Comedy is also ruled out, since the story takes a deeper and darker turn every page that foreshadows perhaps a tragedy or a wonderful finale. The eerieness and somewhat gothic nature of the story is reminscent of Yuki Kaori's works, but Yuu Watase keeps it original and entrances people with her new style of story-telling.

Well, this comment is already long, and it's more like a review. I was completely hooked on this, and I am avidly awaiting her next release.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL THOSE WHO LOVE YAOI WITH A PLOT!!!

Oh...the latest chapter make me cry for joys! >< OMG Really, what it take so long for 1 chapter release? The climax when Souma sama suicide and said " is that enough?" Totally, yuu sensei make SG more and more attractive ! I hope their love will develop after this! I really fell bad for Souma when he said he's not a doll and he want the love from Tagami, actually, Souma is so pitiful! Everyone looked at him with a lusty look and didn't asked for his heart, gradually he became a "western doll" with no feeling ,no heart,no meaning of living. Except Tagami,he gave Souma "warm korrokke" shared his sadness, his happiness, his smiles... and of course, when Tagami denied Souma, his heart just teared into pieces.I know it's a tragedy story but i can't stop hoping the ending of this is a happiness for everyone! ( And i hope next chapter will release a little faster ^^'..uhm, after 2 or 3 months a chap is reaaaaaaaaaaaaally slow as snail sad( . Hic..vol2 chap 2 will comes out on 10th JANUARY )

WATASE Yuu, and Yaoi :o ...shocker...

I've read up to chapter 4 and I have to say, WATASE Yuu has left me speechless.

I've read most of all of her manga works and found the repetitiveness of them to be veeery bland. It was a huge shocker that this SHOUJO mangaka actually made a YAOI manga. The art work is beautiful and the dark and riveting plot leaves you captivated and wanting more. I personally don't like dark, tragic manga but the way Yuu incorporates it into her deep plotline seriously leaves me speechless.

It's a sad thing that she releases each chapter SEASONALLY, meaning only four chapters a YEAR. *sigh* At least the scanlators get the chapters days after their initial release in Japan and pop out the chapter faster than normal...This is a HIGHLY recommended read for any die hard YAOI fans who want a more serious malexmale relationship story...be prepared for pretty boys and lots and lots of angst...

Normally, I tend to avoid anything by WATASE Yuu since most of her shoujo tend to follow the same formula. But wow... just wow... Sakura Gari is completely different; a much darker and richer story with interesting characters. This is definitely my favourite out of all her work, and definitely worth the read. biggrin

Watase Yuu? Yaoi? This still feels weird.

Wow, when Watase Yuu does yaoi, she really goes for broke: her (prolooonged) sex scenes impressed the hell out of me. The couple involved are a bit hit-and-miss, but that's down to personal kink rather than any flaw in the characterisation - the uke's very young, in more ways than in years, and I can't help but feel a little dissociated from him. He’s drawn consistently well though, as is pretty much everything in this manga. I don’t know what it is about it, but this period is being portrayed in a way that there’s a real sense of place and time that’s very nice to see.

Sakura Gari seems more than anything to be a call-back to the angsty BL epics you don’t see too much of any more, heaped with mystery, melodrama and tragedy. You can't help but be swept along by that kind of thing. I'll never call Watase Yuu half-hearted again: when she throws herself into something…

When I first found out that Watase Yuu was the author, honestly, I got turned off. D: (What attracted me was that it was a yaoi manga <3) However, I eventually got over it and began to read Sakura Gari, To my surprise, Sakura Gari is so....great. It actually has a plot, contrary to most of the yaoi I read, and ties in mystery, romance, betrayal, history, and secrets. Also, the art is gorgeous, as expected from Watase Yuu. I'd recommend this to any open-minded reader who likes a good story.

Lastly, if you don't like yaoi, don't bother picking up this story, honestly. Sure, it's Watase Yuu, but at least check the genre before reading and discrediting this great piece of work.
