The Best for Me

A great manga, read it. I feel like this need to be read by a lot more people so that its wonderfulness is spread. I don't really have much to say, as its hard to describe it with words, but lets just say, its great.

On another note, I stumble across this manga after like a year after I graduate from high school and I was studying at college at the time but still haven't decide on my major course yet. I'm not saying that this manga influence my decision (maybe a little, I'm not sure) or make a huge difference in my life (its not that kind of manga), but it kind of relate a bit with my life right now. I'm currently studying to become an audiologist, and when I look back, and think about this manga that I somehow get the chance to read, I was grateful. It's like destiny! (a bit dramatic, there..sorry) biggrin

Anyway, this manga has become the best among my favourites, I lost count how many times I reread it, I even have it on my phone..

I loved this manga. I was looking for a manga that would make me feel warm and fuzzy and restore some faith in humanity and this was perfect!
The premis at first i thought would anoy me because I do not believe in love at first sight but once I got past that, and I did pretty quick, the manga had actual feelings. I chose to think that she didnt fall in love right away but became interested in him and as she learned more about him she came to love him. Because that is what sets this manga apart from all those other 'love at first sight' mangas. She spends time with him and learns more about him over time. She makes an effort to understand him.
Another thing to love about this was the characters. They were adorable and realistic. I loved how the characters reactions made sense and they actualy apologized for things instead of thinking it doesnt need to be said.
I also really enjoyed the fact that even though the fact that he is deaf is a major theme in the story it doesnt make it all angsty. It was really realistic and smooth.
Basicaly I loved this manga and it is deffinately worth the read. I stayed up all night reading this and it was totally worth it! So just try it and see.

The feelings of my heart

This manga is beautiful. The characters are adorable, and very human. As a writer, I've come to appreciate the realism in some mangas.

Asuka fell in love with Masami not because of his face, or anything, she fell in love with the emotions he conveyed by playing the taiko. That is something that happens rarely. What really got me was the fact that she was concerned by his deafness, but in the end decided to persevere. I love that Masami is both very strong and very fragile. He came out very human. This manga is one of a kind.

I suppose not many of you will understand what it feels like to blind or deaf, the fear, the pain, the sadness. The overwhelming hatred and anger. The scariness... I'm not saying I'm completely blind, but without my glasses, I'm put into a world where nothing is definite. Without them, I'm as good as blind. Its scary, I can not function without them. I fear them breaking, or my eyesight getting worse (which it is). Its painful. I don't know how I would live in a world without color, without beauty. Even more so for being deaf. I would just die if I couldn't hear music, if I couldn't hear the beauty of melody.

Thats why I love this manga. Its very real in a way. Yes, there are some moments where it seems cliche, but think about this. It's a plot device. It helps the story move along.

I loved this manga. I see several people saying that people only love it because he's deaf and that it's stupid to fall in love with someone because of how they play the drums, and I couldn't disagree more. This manga is more than just a deaf guy who plays a drum and the girl who fell in love with him. This is their love story, going from when Asuka was a kind of stupid teenage girl to being a strong woman who does her best to learn sign language so she can talk to her boyfriend. It shows Masami's struggle to be on the same level of understanding with others though he can't hear them. There's even the factor of people forgetting that you're deaf and talking quickly, and it does cause some issues between Asuka and Masami. This is a really good manga and I'll admit that I cried a little. A previous commenter said that "almost immediately after they solve one obstacle, there's another one," and kept complaining about it. Well, that's just a fact of life, even more so when you're a deaf guy and your girlfriend doesn't know sign language. Also, she fell in love with him because of the feelings he put into the drum playing. Duh. I see people judging this because Masami is angry at being deaf. How would you feel if one day you could hear just fine and after a while, you can't listen to your favorite song anymore. You'd struggle to communicate in our busy world and it's very unlikely that every single person you would meet would be willing to slow down to accommodate you. I'd be upset, too!
Anyways, this manga is great!!! Don't skip over this manga!! It's so cute and deals with a few major issues mixed with adorableness. smile

I have read many kinds of manga and there are none of those like this one. It attracts me so much because it's so real. The plot isn't impossible or hard to happen in real life. It's possible. It's so real yet so cute. The story is deep and heart-warming. I like matt_is_the_best's comment. "The drum beats. The heart beats". It's a beautiful connection. It's a beautiful story. It's one of the most, no the most wonderful and sweetest love story that I have ever read!!

The drum beats, the heart beats, all of it feels so deep. It was beautiful. =) Definitely worth reading, unique, and will hold a deep place in your heart. It is also to see something through a different view, of having a lack of hearing.

This is probably one of my favourite shoujo mangas, if not my favourite. I really wish it was longer. I've read it a few times now and every time it moves my heart and makes me cry. I recommend it to everyone that believes in love.

Touching

Although I do read alot of shoujo manga, but as most are simply idiotic and meaningless, I avoided them for quite some time. Well, I still do for those with female leads, but the ones with male protagonists are alot better. (Now that I think about it... I probably prefer male protagonists for all genres anyways... = =; )
However, this one, it kept me crying throughout the way. It's touching and cute, somewhat realistic at the same time. It's by no means special though, but that's what makes it good.

The one thing I find reading it a second time though, it's that it's too SHORT! I mean, it's perfect, dragging it out would make it like any other annoying shoujo manga. But still... I first read it before it was finished (I mean the english scans) so didn't realize it at that time... but honestly, it was more satisfying. Usually I like reading mangas and novels in one shot but this one is probably the opposite for me at least.

This was really good I enjoyed it smile I liked how they put the disability twist in it.

I think it must have been hard if you think of things from Masami's point of view; he spent most of his life with hearing and all of a sudden it's gone. Wouldn't that really upset you? I know that I would become really troubled if I lost my hearing at such an age.

It was really cute smile and I like how Asuka pulled him out of his depression. Everyone deals with things differently, and I admire Asuka's dedication to Masami. I'm not sure how realistic this sort of manga would be, but hey if you're reading shoujo why are you even thinking of realism? bigrazz

BORING >_<

I feel like everyone's over-appreciating the fact that he's deaf.. wtf. It's like they decided to make a completely typical manga and just throw in that he's deaf to make it not cliche and everyone hates about the other cliche mangas but juuusst because he's deaf, rigghht. I don't really find it reasonable to fall in love with someone because of their drum-playing. Really when are they ever happy together other than for the split second after they've solved their "obstacle" only to find another one. I found the main girl to be very obnoxious. I guess I'm being harsh because I have a close friend that's deaf and I hate the way they portray the deaf as angry. It's like, would you live your life devastated if you found out you were missing a sense everyone else had? You'd still date normally right? What's the big deal, guys? Just pissed off a little. (sorry! >_<) I sorta just read this for the sake of finishing it so yeah, I didn't like it.
