The second half

the first volume of the story is very slow, boring, cliche, etc.
but into the second volume things start to get interesting. (v. 2 ch. 2!)
I think most of the interesting parts are internal to the characters, which is unfortunate, but it's still a good read if you can make it past the first volume.
the attitudes of the characters are more subtle than most people would write in a story like this, and I think than many people in real life have.

Mixed feelings... but I loved it.

Best BL I've read in over a year. It's powerful. There's actual meaning. It's intense.

There are many flaws, of course, starting from the art style (kinda grows on you though... but the mouths are still weird sometimes. The expressions aren't drawn well, either).
I felt the traumatic background story was handled too quickly. Shouldn't have gone for a plot that dark with only two volumes to work with. Mihael forgave Chris for what he did to his son way too quickly. Something like that would take at least 4 or 5 volumes.
Cliche? I didn't think so. This is nothing like the other BL I've read, for the most case. They actually didn't pretend that HIV didn't exist, and even used condoms. The horrific backstory itself was handled more realistically. It's common for the chain of abuse to be passed through generations, which most other fiction tend to ignore. That kind of shit actually happens, so don't even with the "cliche", because it was executed much better than most.
My biggest complaint, however, is that the mangaka chose to end with a flashback featuring Chris with someone else as the epilogue, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Put that in the middle instead! Don't spoil the perfectly good ending before that!

Even though Chris was immensely flawed, I still find him incredibly interesting. Until the Alex-in-hospital scene (you know the disturbing one), I found him really likeable. Afterwards, I had... a lot of mixed feelings.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The fact that he ordered his own servant to kill him if he ever did anything to Alex made it easier for me to half-forgive him.

Sexuality in this is not portrayed as black and white, which I appreciated.
Mihael and Chris really have chemistry. I loved that.
I also appreciated that there were other things besides Mihael and James and their relationship; they included Alex, who's also quite likeable, and dealing with lost loved ones in a natural, non-melodramatic, gently melancholic way. Usually, when you hear people dying of car accidents, you think "oh god, really? Not that BS again"--but the way it was said here, and phrased in a way that wasn't begging for sympathy... It was believable and well done.
What I loved the most was when
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Mihael woke up and realized that Chris had shaved him, and was waiting for him probably at the concert hall. When he was done, Michael tore out a few of my heartstrings as clumsily as he grabbed those fake flowers and used it to shove aside the expensive bouquet some other guy was propositioning Chris with--curly stem and all. I pretty much melted when Chris tossed them aside and jumped Mihael right there and then oh my god i'm gonna die from the moe. And of course, the cum on the ceiling had me laughing my ass off. Ah, and when Chris smiled when he saw Mihael's reaction to that piece he played... oh man

Could've done without the you-know-what, but still really good nontheless. Definitely worth reading, but it's surely not for everyone. Golly, no BL has moved me this much for a while...

Piece of crap. Maybe sb mistook 10 for 1 point?

Seriously I don't have an idea where that high ratings came from. I wasn't able to finish this. 10 points? for what? It's not half as good as Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai or Nights or Ze.

This is a terrible cliché - siblings died in car accident, parent's suicide, high society gay guy, abuse, prostitution, rich&rotten parents, rebellious teenager yearning for love, taking the wrong path of life... I like smut yaoi and twisted characters but this time it's like mangaka haven't had an idea for storyline so he got together all overused cliché motives and put them in one story.

I was annoyed by sluggishly going storyline. Dialogues are too long and messy, sometimes it was boring so (for the first time) I started to exclude some dialogues for sake to finish this manga. Moreover the drawings aren't even pretty. They aren't particularly ugly but... oh well maybe they are, like in American comic books in early 80' (Superman Spiderman sth like that). But of course there might be some fans of this kind of art. Definitely not in my liking.

But the worst thing is that the plot is so unreal messed up and twisted that I thought it's a parody of some yaoi. Their reactions & answers often are unconnected with previous questions and doings like characters don't even bother to listen to each other or are simply dumb (or both). Their reactions are also unreasonable or ridiculous
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(there's insane guy Adler well known by a doctor, every normal man, especially doctor would took him to the hospital for a long treatment and call the police after what he did but it never happened! - he undressed his own son, gave him a grope, he was trying to rape him and to kill him and after all he tried to commit suicide also he was trying to kill the doc and there were more stuff like that - no police, no treatment, no medicines
gimme a break! it would never happen in reality, the plot is lacking of common sense).

The foreign names of the characters are just wrong for example half Japanese half French guy is called Michail - Russian name - isn't it ridiculous? they're French people with English names (except Christoph Adler I think) Everybody knows that French dislike English, and would never give them English names - next one mistake but it's not that important after all. Did I already told that the storyline is poor? Like in old low budget horror movies. What's more there's almost no sex scenes... what a pity. Honestly I'm disappointed, this story is shitty.

update: I've finished this manga. Well I admit there were some nice pictures while they had sex (finally! in the end of vol2) but still I hate when plot is twisted to the extent when manga is as much pathetic as it is funny. I'm truly surprised that so many people with a nice taste liked this crap.

I like sensei's work, she's one of the few who can successfully combine comedy elements into serious stories without making it seem just wrong.
This manga is realistic and dark. The story picks up and keeps one on the edge of the seat until the final chapter.
It's a good read and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit dark and disturbing!

REALLY good

The art's not remarkable, but the story is really exceptional, and has a lot more depth than most manga (yaoi or otherwise). It's about messed up people and the cycle of abuse, and others who try to help. It's a very moving tragedy.

I'm an emotional person so I seldom read mangas tagged "tragedy", but thanks to comments here I gave it a go.

Phew! Happy ending

Very expressive, emotional and nicely drawn manga. Funny, sad, cold, warm, sometimes disgusting, sometimes scary... with that kind of aftertaste that makes you go and write a comment here (on lj, on twitter... everywhere) because you just don't want to simply say "goodbye" to this story.
Thanks alot Nishida-sensei, by far its the best her manga I've read.

I have read many romance mangas but this is what I call a good emotional romance story! Chris reminds me of Yashiro from Saezuru Tori ha Habatakanai (Yoneda Kou)...

My favorite character was Chis not because he's the "cold & cool guy". Because underneath his mask, he's still a human.

I would also recommend this artists other work I read a long time ago: Negai Kanae Tamae.
It's not as good as this but still... READ IT!

One emotional ride!

I didn't want to touch this! I was scared of the all the hints at a dark and twisted ambience surrounding this story, and I was right. ;3; omg I was thrown back and forth!
I hated Chris and felt so heartbroken for Alex and for Michel.
Having known people in my own life, friends who have dealt with abuse and how it has affected them, I couldn't say to myself "but it doesn't happen like that" but of course a thousands times worse than what I've ever known personally. It's scary! The character created from these ideas is one I won't forget!
I found I couldn't see clearly where each step would take our main characters, which was exciting!
The story has humor and moments that made me laugh and smile, then moments that made me feel angry or left my heart aching. I think it's definitely a bitter-sweet story!
Now forever completely in love with all these characters! I'm left wondering how things will be for Alex, Chris and Michel in the future, but although they have all been through painful experiences I feel they will definitely have a brighter, better life together!
Best of luck to Michel! He picked a tough character to love, but by the end I loved him too!!! xD
This author did an amazing job with a hauntingly beautiful story. I can't help but love it!
Ah I find that in the end I still wanted more!

A very fine work

This is my favorite work of Nishida sensei so far.

Since I've discovered her works, I've loved them. I like the themes she's dealing with in her books, they're dark, tough and sad most of the time, and very well treated with subtlety and fine psychology. It makes the characters always endearing, even Chris here is more and more likeable as the pages go by. I ended up feeling empathy for him as his past is revealed, I didn't see a violent crazy man anymore, but just a man who's suffering. Somehow she always manages to make us feel the humanity of the characters.

In this one the subject is not only dark and tough, but also twisted. And where she dealt with this greatly is that she achieved to keep a certain morality, allowing us to feel safe enough, while flirting with the borders of the acceptable, leaving us sometimes almost asking for it and confused. This is done with great talent !

I also have to say that the yaoi theme in her works isn't that important. Actually I think I'd still read them even if they weren't yaoi mangas.

As for the artwork, it's true it's not my favorite type of style, but still, I think it fits perfectly the stories she's writing and the way she's telling them. There's an harmony between all the elements of her books.
