The setup is great, but once "Alice" moves in (the best and most messed up harem setup i've ever read, really) it got really inconsistent. Without giving away anything, it feels like the manga decided on new directions halfway through.

I guess if you're used to shoujo and don't mind the things this one's tagged with, it's not bad, but it's definitely way less than what I'd expect from Mizushiro Setona.

Disappointed

So, I'm pretty disappointed with this one.

I thought the concept was pretty interesting at first. It's almost like they mixed witches and vampires, since their are vampire familiars and sort of "devil" marks.

However, the relationship is really twisted with the main male, Dmitri and main female, Alice. I drew the line when Dmitri slapped Alice after an argument about her sleeping with a former lover whom insulted her afterwards out of anger. Dmitri threatens to kill him for his insult but then slaps Alice? Really? I could forgive words said out of anger but physical assault? A couple pages later they're kissing and making up....So in the eyes of these characters, an insult to her "honor" is way more of an issue than actually hitting this character.

Triggers to look out for are rape, attempted rape, suicide over being raped, and physical assault. There are possibly more, but I've stopped reading...

This is the first time I comment on this site because I didn't want to bother commenting on it, but this! THIS manga makes me want to share my feeling for it! This is the first time I feel so irritated about the heroine. I just wanted to go dive in the monitor and kill the heroine. SERIOUSLY.
I just wonder why they fell in love with girl when all she do is complain (Oh well, this is not gonna be interesting if the personality's not twisted) but THIS! Her stubbornness reach the Mt. Everest (I congratulate her for that. LOL) I just started wondering why they fell in love with her, with her personality they have a tendency to be a super masochist, I promise I really tried to like the heroine but my killing radar don't escape her.
This manga is interesting even though I want to murder the protagonist I went and read the whole chapters. (Kinda want what will happen) but then it's Hiatus (wanna kill the author also for that).

The start was ok it's so mystery then it kinda drifted from japan to canada So far. LOOOL
Try reading it, we have different opinions in this, I just wanna share biggrin (but then it's hiatus. XD)

...is the first word that comes to mind. I admit I forced myself to read through the first chapter because it starts in 1906 Vienna with an atypical introduction of characters and I had no idea where the story was headed. I thought it wouldn’t be my type of series, but I was intrigued by the end of the first chapter.

The actual story starts a few chapters later in modern day Tokyo, however, so don’t let the first few throw you off. I prefer the beginning actually, but it’s still good now. The breeding premise is a little shoved in your face and makes you go “well, it is a reverse harem after all but did they have to remind me so blatantly?” but I do think the author is giving the plot more substance than I expected when I first heard the term “breeding”. In particular, I like the narration and the way the relationships are portrayed more than the characters themselves (who may rub some readers the wrong way with their flaws). They are very believable, and you have no doubts that Dmitri genuinely loves Agnieszka or that Alice genuinely loved Kouya, though these feelings may now be changing with the progress of the story. I wouldn’t say any of the leads are extremely endearing, but they are who they are, with their backstories, experiences and vulnerabilities that they are forced to face as they come to terms with the issue at hand. There is indeed a heavy, mature feeling about the story because this mangaka’s works are well known for their exploration of darker elements. It’s just her particular specialty and style so if you like the light fluffy stuff, I’d stay away. I personally gravitate towards psychological stories though, so I find Kurobara Alice fascinating to a good degree. I only hope it doesn’t fall flat or plateau off as we head into further chapters as I’ve seen so many great series do.

I was sooooo bored until ch 16, then all of a sudden, I couldn't stop reading. Finally, Alice isn't just some typical shoujo character anymore! I absolutely love who she is becoming, someone who knows her worth and makes them grovel for her. I like that she's not easily duped by the charms of Demitri. I like that she's not subcoming to her role of putting the welfare of vampires first. I love that Kouya is still a part of her life. I hope she continues this trend and not cave into submissiveness, especially since Demitri is such a player.

i really hate alice, she really stopped my from loving this series, at first she seems to adapt well but she's sooo indecisive and after chapter 21 i wanted to pop her head off. she's 28 however her actions seem very siutable for a 16 year old. its a harlem set up, so she receives all the guys affections when their attentions divert from her she gets jealous and catty. she demands so much yet gives nothing back, i find her a very hateful character..... otherwise from that the story definitely original and gripping. The art as always is beautiful and the whole ambience of the story between maximillian/leo and dimitris. i wish it was BL...

Well, certainly not another reverse harem. I find it unique the way the author portrays the vampires. ok, the bugs and insects are truly disgusting and i almost have to close my eyes when i see them, but, if i ignore that, i guess the rest of the manga is pretty interesting. I like Dimitri, and i loved the beginning of the story with tragedy, darkness, mystery. Then later it turned out in a real comedy, and lately its back to drama and "everyone-is-emo-time". Somehow it pisses me off, because Alice should be a little more mature since
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She is a middle aged woman =_= and not a 16 year old girl
. But what i do love the most are the tension between Dimitri and Alice. Its such a huge chemistry, although well, Dimitri
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
obviously only loves "her" body, which makes me kinda sad
.

Ok, ending my rant, but overall, this is still a good and unique "fake" reverse harem. The art is also very good, and im hoping more dark chapters in the future~~

This series is interesting and different from other reverse harems. Plot is good and is not like any other vampire series. Haha I drank some tea after finishing the latest chapter and then realised there were ants in my tea. It reminded me of the insects in the manga. :/

Fun to read when you're bored because she's surrounded by so many bishounens but other than that... it's quite frustrating. The plot started out interesting but there wasn't any progress. Everyone pampers her because they want her to choose them. She doesn't do much actually. It seems farfetched and the cliches has a bad taste. But I'll keep it on my reading list bc I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. Plus, I do enjoy the touch of tragedy.

EDIT- OKAY I change my mind. Up to volume 6 now (found the raws to look at). So far it got interesting. Kai and Reiji did a 180 with their personality. They're much darker!

EDIT - hmm it got kind of boring.. everything is moving too slow.
