The idiocy concludes.

Aaand we're back to this story being the irritating kind of stupid like in Ayu no Monogatari, rather than the amusing kind in Host. This time it's Reina's turn for more suffering, and the stupidity is in spades as everyone continues making decisions that go against basic common sense.

However, I will commend the author for giving at least SOME depth to this by showing Reina struggling to find a job to support herself and Ayu...which only makes it more disappointing when the story, once again, devolves into misery porn. Like in Host, Ayu is no more than a plot device; she gets a few cute scenes with Reina, but most of the time is wasted on the would-be savior/boyfriend Akira, who then goes on to become a martyr for absolutely nothing.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I actually cackled when Yoshiyuki grabbed the boss's gun, like he did with the knife in Host. Somehow, his bland ass can intimidate people who kidnap and rape women.

What could've been a nice story about Reina coming to terms with her role as a mother, ends up as cheap melodrama instead, and I'm starting to think that the author likes writing about women being abused. And, through it all, we have the all-too-familiar dumb commentary boxes that reiterate what we just saw, because, in a manga where characters are graphically raped and killed, we readers need to be told what basic emotions are.

I read this 11 years ago. Then I read it again today. And boy oh boy was this manga ahead of its time. It was just sad for me then, but now as someone who's an adult, this hits differently. If you read the whole series(ayu, Pao, host, then reina) then you'll see a very interesting character development, and how thia ending gives it the ending the whole series deserves.

101% NSFW. I don’t like the characters. I hate this bitch and her bastard. It has trash ending and is worse than Stephen Kings’ books. Very Josei. I don’t like the series, I hate this bullshit. It sucks. Not very recommended.

Arghhh! If u read Deep Love HOST, IT'S EVEN MORE SAD AND
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
AYU(REINA'S DAUGHTER) DIES. Reina just forgot her daughter since she turned psycho but if Yoshiyki didn't go after her, she would forever stay as the boss's nasty toy. But she didn't see her daughter even at the end of the story. At first I wondered, but after reading Deep Love Host, I realized that her daughter died.
Why?! Why do those ungrateful people get to live while the people who live a bitter and sad life all die? Well, if they lived a better life, they probably wouldn't be considered traged anymore, but it makes it really seem like God is cruel. Thumbs up for the author!

So sad...

What a sad manga. It brought me to tears! I'm quite happy that Yoshiyuki is looking after Reina, although they're not in love. I even cried when Akira died.Just when they're together and he's gone like that. I noticed that in this "Deep Love" series, it's all about selling body and dying. It's like it's giving us some warning that if we do this kind of things, we're gonna end up like the main characters which I think it's true. It's reality after all. But I can't deal with the main characters dying! Not to mention that they're so handsome and pretty. But overall, it's a very good manga. Sad, but good. It's not something that I would re-read (just in case I cry again) but it's definitely a manga that you have to read.

I've seen reviews about certain things here, that would be cleared up if those were to read the other stories. Like with little Ayu going blind,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She didn't go blind from the stairs, I have no clue if it was mentioned in this story at all(Probably not), but she went blind during the surgery because the doctor was drunk. It says this during Deep Love: Host.

Just really wanted to clear that up, I really love this series and love how well everything lines up.

The story is tragic! Reina's life has never been good and when she finds true love, its gone again.
But i like the art work of the mangaka, the mangaka draws the characters very nicely and beautifully.
The story is sad but thats just life, this manga shows that not everyone has a very nice life and this is definitely one case of it. Recommended for nice art work and a good read for people who is interested in reading about different people with different fate in life.

This story was heartbreaking..
I thought Ayu had it rough and had such a terrible experience and to have her life ended so soon before she cudd meet her love again..
But I nevaa thought Reina's life wudd be so miserable.
What Reina felt was so shocking and terrible, and that boss was such a dikhead and a fukcunt alright, i wish he got shot..
I feel terrible. Reina i think is the one who suffered the most in aftermaths in the whole Deep Love Series. First she gets raped in a karaoke bar for doing what her friend does only because she wanted to understand Ayu more. Then her best friend who has helped her pull through dies trying to save her love on Christmas Day. She gives birth and names her child after her best friend whom she misses so much. She finds love with a terrific guy but he backs down when she says she was raped and has a child with an unknown father. She misunderstands the guy she loved who actually loves her so much and wants things to work out and ignores him. She wasn't careful and let her child get hurt and go blind. She needs to make money and stop relying on her poor health mother and does sex-related jobs. She turns down her love twice. Her daughter dies while she isnt there in the hands of her own cousin(though accident). She gets tortured by her boss. She's hurt and feels terrible but then her new friend helps her run away frm the boss. She goes back to confess to her love. They kiss and want to start over. At the same time she is worried bout her friend and so her love tells her that he'll check up on them. He gets killed trying to protect Reina ALL IN THE SAME DAY TheY GET TOGETHER AGAIN. The boss takes her and rapes her over and over and over. She's finally saved by her deceased best friend's lover who tells her the information of the dead daughter. He lives with her to help her and support her as both of them have lost their love in such a terrible way.
I'm glad Yoshiyuki is looking after her now because there probably wudnt have been anyone betta.

ii dont think they love each other but they have moral support so it was a happy ending..

dayum this author must be hardout cynical. Is it possible for any person to go through something as harsh as this girl went through, comeon surely the world cannot be that bad. Where is the hope? Damn so depressing, i regret reading this one man, shiyt. The only thing it does, is perhaps make u the reader happy with the life you have cus there is no way it cud be worse than the life this girl has.

I get that the author wants to show the readers that life isn't easy but i think she went to far (I mean very far). Real life maybe like shit but it's not that bad I mean first she gets raped and then the guy she loves leaves her the her daughter becomes blind then her co-worker gets killed then she gets back with the guy she loves(the only happy thing) then the guy gets killed. I know that real life maybe like that sometimes but it's like a one in a million chance. All in all it's not a bad manga.
